  • gcc does not resolve extern global variables, with or without -c option

    Hello everyone! So i have this issue : i am declaring some extern global variables in my C program. If I don't use the -c option for gcc, i get undefined references errors. But with that -c option, the linking is not done, which means that i don't have an executable generated. So how do I solve this? Here is my makefile. As I am not good with writing makefiles, I took one from another project then I changed a few things.   • NUnit doesn't work well with Assert.AreEqual

    Hi! I'm new to unit-testing and NUit in particular. I'm just typing some examples from the book which refers to Java and JUnit. But I'm using C# instead. The problem is: I've got a class with overriden methods such as Equals() and GetHashCode(), but when I am trying to compare two objects of this class with Assert.AreEqual() my code is not called, so I get an exception. Assert.True(MyClass.Equals(MyClass2)) does work well. But I don't wanna use this construction instead of Assert.AreEqual(). Where the problem can be?   • addEventListener pass caller as argument

    Hi, I have the following code. And my problem is that when clicking, the event is firing but the argument passed is not the correct one. It is passing the last dynamically created row i.e. dataStructure.length value.   • Message Handlers and the WeakReference issue

But if I say "static Handler handler = new Handler()" it won't compile complaining that I "cannot make a static reference to a non-static field myMapView. If I can't make such references, I can't do anything useful. This led me into several hours of googling around on this issue and learning more about weakReferences than I ever wanted to know. The often found reccomendation I find is that I should replace... private Handler handler = new Handler() with static class handler extends Handler { private final WeakReference<PSActivity> mTarget; handler(PSActivity target) { mTarget = new WeakReference<PSActivity>(target); } But this won't compile still complaining that I can't make a static reference to a non-dtatic field. So, my question a week or to ago was "how can I write a message handler for android so my service can send data to my activity. Even though I have working code, the question still stands with the suffix "without leaking memory". Thanks, Gary

  • In perl, how can I call a method whose name I have in a string?

    I'm trying to write some abstract code for searching through a list of similar objects for the first one whose attributes match specific values. In order to do this, I need to call a bunch of accessor methods and check all their values one by one. I'd like to use an abstraction like this: sub verify_attribute { my ($object, $attribute_method, $wanted_value) = @_; if ( call_method($object, $attribute_method) ~~ $wanted_value ) { return 1; } else { return; } } Then I can loop through a hash whose keys are accessor method names and whose values are the values I'm looking for for those attributes. For example, if that hash is called %wanted, I might use code like this to find the object I want: my $found_object; FINDOBJ: foreach my $obj (@list_of_objects) { foreach my $accessor (keys %wanted) { next FINDOBJ unless verify_attribute($obj, $accessor, $wanted{$accessor}); } # All attrs verified $found_object = $obj; last FINDOBJ; } Of course, the only problem is that call_method does not exsit. Or does it? How can I call a method if I have a string containing its name? Or is there a better solution to this whole problem?

  • How to use javascript to get information from the content of another page (same domain)?

    Let's say I have a web page (/index.html) that contains the following <li> <div>item1</div> <a href="/details/item1.html">details</a> </li> and I would like to have some javascript on /index.html to load that /details/item1.html page and extract some information from that page. The page /details/item1.html might contain things like <div id="some_id"> <a href="/images/item1_picture.png">picture</a> <a href="/images/item1_map.png">map</a> </div> My task is to write a greasemonkey script, so changing anything serverside is not an option. To summarize, javascript is running on /index.html and I would like to have the javascript code to add some information on /index.html extracted from both /index.html and /details/item1.html. My question is how to fetch information from /details/item1.html. I currently have written code to extract the link (e.g. /details/item1.html) and pass this on to a method that should extract the wanted information (at first just .innerHTML from the some_id div is ok, I can process futher later). The following is my current attempt, but it does not work.     I am currently breaking my head about transforming this object hash: "food": { "healthy": { "fruits": ['apples', 'bananas', 'oranges'], "vegetables": ['salad', 'onions'] }, "unhealthy": { "fastFood": ['burgers', 'chicken', 'pizza'] } } to something like this: food:healthy:fruits:apples food:healthy:fruits:bananas food:healthy:fruits:oranges food:healthy:vegetables:salad food:healthy:vegetables:onions food:unhealthy:fastFood:burgers food:unhealthy:fastFood:chicken food:unhealthy:fastFood:pizza In theory it actually is just looping through the object while keeping track of the path and the end result.     I have two lists (list1 and list2) containing references to some objects, where some of the list entries may point to the same object. Then, for various reasons, I am serializing these lists to two separate files. Finally, when I deserialize the lists, I would like to ensure that I am not re-creating more objects than needed. In other words, it should still be possible for some entry of List1 to point to the same object as some entry in List2. MyObject obj = new MyObject(); List<MyObject> list1 = new ArrayList<MyObject>(); List<MyObject> list2 = new ArrayList<MyObject>(); list1.add(obj); list2.add(obj); // serialize to file1.ser ObjectOutputStream oos = new ObjectOutputStream(...); oos.writeObject(list1); oos.close(); // serialize to file2.ser oos = new ObjectOutputStream(...); oos.writeObject(list2); oos.close(); I think that sections 3.4 and A.2 of the spec say that deserialization strictly results in the creation of new objects, but I'm not sure. If so, some possible solutions might involve: Implementing equals() and hashCode() and checking references manually. Creating a "container class" to hold everything and then serializing the container class. Is there an easy way to ensure that objects are not duplicated upon deserialization? Thanks.

I am not an expert with JSON so I have no idea what is going on here. I really have no way of testing it because the information is coming from an outside website sending information such as this: { payload: { uid: "900af657a65e", amount: 50, adjusted_amount: 25 }, signature: "4dd0f5da77ecaf88628967bbd91d9506" } The site allows me to test the script, but because json_decode is providing NULL values it will not get through the signature block. Is there a way I can test it myself? Or is there a simple error in this script that I may have just looked over?

    I'm writing a pdf reader iPhone application. I know how to show pdf file in view using CGPDF** classes in iOS. What I want to do now is to search text in pdf file, and highlight the searched text. So, I need a library which can detect what text is in what position. Besides, I want the library able to handle unicode and Chinese characters. I've searched for a few days but still cannot find anything suitable. I've tried xpdf, but it is written in c++. I don't know how to use c++ code in iPhone app. I've also tried http://www.codeproject.com/KB/cpp/ExtractPDFText.aspx but it does not handle Chinese characters. I've tried to code by myself, but the encoding in PDF is really complicated.     when saving an object to database using hibernate, sometimes it fails because certain fields of the object exceed the maximum varchar length defined in the database. There force I am using the following approach: 1. attempt to save 2. if getting an DataException, then I truncate the fields in the object to the max length specified in the db definition, then try to save again. However, in the second save after truncation.   • Importing a C DLL's functions into a C++ program

    I have a 3rd party library that's written in C. It exports all of its functions to a DLL. I have the .h file, and I'm trying to load the DLL from my C++ program. The first thing I tried was surrounding the parts where I #include the 3rd party lib in #ifdef __cplusplus extern "C" { #endif and, at the end #ifdef __cplusplus } // extern "C" #endif But the problem there was, all of the DLL file function linkage looked like this in their header files: a_function = (void *)GetProcAddress(dll, "a_function"); While really a_function had type int (*a_function) (int *). Apparently MSVC++ compiler doesn't like this, while MSVC compiler does not seem to mind. So I went through (brutal torture) and fixed them all to the pattern typedef int (*_a_function) (int *); _a_function a_function ; Then, to link it to the DLL code, in main(): a_function = (_a_function)GetProcAddress(dll, "a_function"); This SEEMS to make the compiler MUCH, MUCH happier, but it STILL complains with this final set of 143 errors, each saying for each of the DLL link attempts: error LNK2005: _a_function already defined in main.obj main.obj Multiple symbol definition errors.. sounds like a job for extern! SO I went and made ALL the function pointer declarations as follows: function_pointers.h typedef int (*_a_function) (int *); extern _a_function a_function ; And in a cpp file: function_pointers.cpp #include "function_pointers.h" _a_function a_function ; ALL fine and dandy.. except for linker errors now of the form: error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol _a_function main.obj Main.cpp includes "function_pointers.h", so it should know where to find each of the functions.. I am bamboozled. Does any one have any pointers to get me functional? (Pardon the pun..)

    I have some files that contain logs of objects. Each file can store objects of a different type, but a single file is homogeneous -- it only stores objects of a single type. I would like to write a method that returns an array of these objects, and have the array be of a specified type (the type of objects in a file is known and can be passed as a parameter).   • LNK4221 and LNK4006 Warnings!

    Hi, I basically making a static library of my own. I have taken my code which works and now put it into a static library for another program to use. In my library I am using another static library which I don't want the people who will be using my API to know. Since, I want to hide that information from them I can't tell them to install the other static library. Anyway, I used the command line Lib.exe to extract and create a smaller lib file of just the obj's I used. However, I get a bunch of "LNK4006 :second definition ignored" linker warnings for each obj I use followed by "LNK4221 no public symbols found;archive member will be inaccessible". I am doing this work in vs2008 and I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I am using the #pragma comment line in my .cpp file I have also modified the librarian to add my smaller .lib along with its location. my code simply makes calls to a couple functions which it should be able to get from those Obj file in the smaller lib. All my functions are implemented in .cpp file and my header just have the includes of the third party header files and come standard c++ header files. nothing fancy. I have actually no function definitions in there atm. I was going to put the API definition in there and implement that in the .cpp for this static lib that i was going to make. However, I just wanted to build my code before I added more to it. s Any help would be appreciated. is this a vs2008 configuration issue? or a program issue I am not sure. thanks for the help!

  • Scroll to item in listview in Silverlight 3.

    I have a silverlight 3 app with a textbox on the main window and a childwindow that has a list of all the potential textbox values. When I open that childwindow I want it to scroll to the correct one in the list. I'm trying to do this with the code below...using the ScrollIntoView. It was not working at all until I add the UpdateLayerout(). However it does not seem to work all the time. At times it scrolls but not all the way to the item, it is a few items higher than it should be. The listbox is in an Accordion and the list items use a ItemTemplate\DataTemplate, not sure if that effects anything but thought I'd mention it. Any ideas what I'm missing in the code below? What I would like is to scroll the item to the top of the list ....any ideas how to that?
