  • shell_exec syntax error. running in terminal directly is ok

    Having this command: $command = "diff -bBdH --ignore-all-space <(echo 'hi') <(echo 'hi1')"; echo $command; $result = shell_exec($command); On the screen I see: sh: 1: Syntax error: "(" unexpected diff -bBdH --ignore-all-space <(echo 'hi') <(echo 'hi1') If I copy-paste the second line from the console output into the terminal, the result would be correct. (Reproduced on another machine too). I'm missing something dead simple here and can't see what it is. besides, why is my output reversed? I'm clearly echoing the command before executing it, thus the syntax error of the shell should appear after the shell_exec

    I'm not getting the results I want for a query I'm writing in LINQ using the following: var config = (from ic in repository.Fetch() join oc in repository.Fetch() on ic.Slot equals oc.Slot where ic.Description == "Input" && oc.Description == "Output" select new Config { InputOid = ic.Oid, OutputOid = oc.Oid }).Distinct(); The following SQL returns 53 rows (which is correct), but the above LINQ returns 96 rows: SELECT DISTINCT ic.Oid AS InputOid, oc.Oid AS OutputOid FROM dbo.Config AS ic INNER JOIN dbo.Config AS oc ON ic.Slot = oc.Slot WHERE ic.Description = 'Input' AND oc.Description = 'Output' How would I replicate the above SQL in a LINQ query? Update: I don't think it matters, but I'm working with LINQ to Entities 4.0.

  • Best practices for parsing HTML from Wikipedia for iPhone viewing?

    I am building an iPhone Wikipeida game app, that requires modifying the default Wiki HTML a little bit (mostly simplifying the page). So far I am directly downloading the HTML output from en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Article_Foo to a python Google App Engine, and then modify its CSS and HTML structure, cache it, and finally output to iPhone. It works but I find this method quite tedious, there must be a better method? Please note that I use App Engine not just for parsing the Wiki, but the game also requires it to keep the stores...etc, hence not a overkill. Also, I would prefer doing all the work with python on App Engine, to keep the iPhone client as thin and mobile as possible (XML on iPhone is a big no fun) Thanks a lot.

    Having a really frustrating time with Firefox and the back button...given this simple ASP form: <head> <title>Form 1</title> </head> <body> <form action="form2.asp" method="post"> Enter some text:<input type="text" name="thetext" id="thetext"> <input type="submit" id="submit" name="submit"> </form> </body> </html> Firefox (3.6.3) will occasionally clear the value of the text box after hitting submit and then the back button. It's unpredictable when it will strike. And it will work for dozens to hundreds of times, and then all of a sudden it stops working. Any ideas where I should start?

    Hi, I am an experienced developer but I am new to web application development. Now I am in charge of developing a new web application and I could really use some input from experienced web developers out there. I'd like to understand exactly what experienced web developers do in the code-behind pages. At first I thought it was best to have a rule that all the database access and business logic should be performed in classes external to the code-behind pages. My thought was that only logic necessary for the web form would be performed in the code-behind. I still think that all the business logic should be performed in other classes but I'm beginning to think it would be alright if the code-behind had access to the database to query it directly rather than having to call other classes to receive a dataset or collection back. Any input would be appreciated.

    I have a web form that has 2 radio buttons, depending on which one is clicked it displays a hidden element This works fine in all browsers except for IE6, which, after I click on the radio button, I have to click again (anywhere on the window) and then the element is displayed...has anyone had behavior like this before? I tried to not use jQuery and do straight getElementById() but I get the same behavior... I need to be able to have the user input a number to shift the encryption by, such as 4: e.g. 'A' to 'E'. The user also needs to input the string to be translated. The book says to use a zip() to do the problem. I am confused on how I would do this though.     i am exploring the option of whether DoCmd.TransferText will do what i need, and it seems like it wont. i need to insert data if it does not exist and update it if it does exist i am planning to read a text file line by line like this: Dim intFile As Integer Dim strLine As String intFile = FreeFile() Open myFile For Input As #intFile Line Input #intFile, strLine Close #intFile i guess each individual line will be a record. it will probably be comma separated and some fields will have a " text qualifier because within the field itself i will have commas my question is how would i read a comma delimited text file that has double quotes sometimes as text qualifiers into a table in access?

    Hi Is it possible to have to make a html for helper in asp.net mvc 2.0 have a default value of "empty string" Like if I do this Html.TextBoxFor( u => u.ProductName) would render to <input id ="ProductName" name="ProdcutName" type="text" value="Jim" /> Now I don't want the textbox to display jim. I want it to display nothing. <input id ="ProductName" name="ProdcutName" type="text" value="" /> I tried to do this Html.TextBoxFor( u => u.ProductName, new { @value = " "}) but that seems to do nothing. So how can I do this. I hope you can do something like this otherwise I think these new helpers have a great flaw since now I need to use like javascript to remove them since I hardly ever want a default value in the textbox especially when I have a label right beside the textbox saying what it is.

    In IIS 7.5, I'm trying to rewrite a Url such as /about to /content.asp?p=about, with support for QueryString-s, so if the orginal Url was /about?x=y, it should rewrite to /content.asp?p=about&x=y. The basic rewriting is now working, but when I'm trying to add a QueryString it doesn't work. Tried both /about?x=y and /about&x=y.   • Disabling a window after SendInput()

    From my application I want to do two 'very basic' actions: 1. send a bunch of input (movemouse on window 'W', click, movemouse back) using SendInput() 2. disable window 'W' either by setting its layered alpha property to zero or using EnableWindow(W, FALSE). No matter what the delay between 1 and 2 is, it doesn't work. If I don't ever disable the window, if I don't do step 2, then it works great all the time. I tried putting a Sleep(10000) and it still didn't work. Window gets disabled but it doesn't receive the input. What could I be missing here?

After that, when I continue to click a other button, the event onchange of the input text above is fired. I want to when clicking the button, the click event is fired before. Can anyone help me to solve this problem ?

    I'm new to PHP sessions and I've come across the following error: Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: Cannot send session cookie - headers already sent by (output started at somefile:someline). As well as this one: Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: Cannot send session cache limiter - headers already sent by (output started at somefile:someline). The session_start(); is the very first thing in all of my code. I'm not sure what the problem is. It gave me line numbers but all I do on those lines is start the session. Also - I have a portion of code whose POST action is another PHP page. How can I set a $_SESSION variable pertaining to this page within that action page?

    When using the MnSymbol package, pdflatex gives two font warnings: LaTeX Font Warning: Encoding 'OMS' has changed to 'U' for symbol font (Font) 'symbols' in the math version 'normal' on input line 120. LaTeX Font Info: Overwriting symbol font 'symbols' in version 'normal' (Font) OMS/cmsy/m/n --> U/MnSymbolF/m/n on input line 120. It turns out that this is probably due to a clash with the AMSSymb package. Since I need just a few symbols from the package: is there a way to load one symbol from a package, in stead of all?
