  • Retrieving data from simplexml_load_file

    - by Kole Odd
    Working with the simplexml_load_file() function, I get a side effect. To understand what I mean, see this code: $result = simplexml_load_file($xml_link); $arr = array(); foreach ($result->element as $elem) { $arr[] = $elem->number[0]; } print_r($arr); Output: Array ( [0] => SimpleXMLElement Object ( [0] => 330411879136 ) [1] => SimpleXMLElement Object ( [0] => 370346266228 ) [2] => SimpleXMLElement Object ( [0] => 370346266223 ) ) How would I store data into the array so that output would look like so: Array ( [0] => 330411879136 [1] => 370346266228 [2] => 370346266223 )

  • ASP.NET GridView - how to enable validation declaratively

    - by Joe
    It it possible to enable validation in an ASP.NET GridView purely declaratively? What I've tried: A GridView bound to an ObjectDataSource with SelectMethod and UpdateMethod defined The GridView contains some ReadOnly BoundField columns and a TemplateField whose EditTemplate contains a TextBox and a RegularExpressionValidator that only allows numeric input in the TextBox. The GridView also contains a CommandField with ShowEditButton=true and CausesValidation=true. If I click on Edit, enter an invalid value, then click on Save, there is a PostBack, and an exception is thrown in the server (Input string was not in a correct format). I can of course avoid this by adding validation code to the RowUpdating event handler on the server (see below), but is there any declarative way to force the validation to be done without adding this code? protected void MyGridView_RowUpdating(object sender, GridViewUpdateEventArgs e) { Page.Validate("MyValidationGroup"); if (!Page.IsValid) { e.Cancel = true; } }

  • Programming in Python; writing a Caesar Cipher using a zip() method

    - by user1068153
    I'm working on a python program for homework and the problem asks me to develop a program that encrypts a message using a caesar cipher. I need to be able to have the user input a number to shift the encryption by, such as 4: e.g. 'A' to 'E'. The user also needs to input the string to be translated. The book says to use a zip() to do the problem. I am confused on how I would do this though. I have this but it doesn't do anything >>>def ceasarCipher(string, shift): strings = ['abc', 'def'] shifts = [2,3] for string, shift in zip(strings, shifts): print ceasarCipher(string,shift) >>>string = 'hello world' >>>shift = 1

  • How to get rid of "d»z" or "" characters

    - by Cassandra
    I have website based on Umbraco 5. I have installed contact form plugin (http://cultivjupitercontact.codeplex.com/). And on the web page at the end of this contact form there are always characters "d»z". It looks like that: ... <input type="submit" value="Send" /> </fieldset> <input name='uformpostroutevals' type='hidden' value='somevalue' /></form>d»z I suspect there is something wrong with encoding. I have tried to change it(to ANSI or UTF-8 without BOM but it didn't helped. Perhaps I have changed it in wrong file, cause I don't really know where exactly this 'd»z'is coming from. All I know it came with this plugin. On different server those extra characters are "". How can I get rid of those extra characters? Any help much appreciated!

  • In OCaml, how can I create an out_channel which writes to a string/buffer instead of a file on disk

    - by Tianyi Cui
    I have a function of type in_channel -> out_channel -> unit which will output something to an out_channel. Now I'd like to get its output as a string. Creating temporary files to write and read it back seems ugly, so how can I do that? Is there any other methods to create out_channel besides Pervasives.open_out family? Actually, this function implemented a repl. What I really need is to test it programmatically, so I'd like to first wrap it to a function of type string -> string. For creating the in_channel, it seems I can use Scanf.Scanning.from_string, but I don't know how to create the out_channel parameter.

  • Convert String containing several numbers into integers

    - by GobiasKoffi
    I realize that this question may have been asked several times in the past, but I am going to continue regardless. I have a program that is going to get a string of numbers from keyboard input. The numbers will always be in the form "66 33 9" Essentially, every number is separated with a space, and the user input will always contain a different amount of numbers. I'm aware that using 'sscanf' would work if the amount of numbers in every user-entered string was constant, but this is not the case for me. Also, because I'm new to C++, I'd prefer dealing with 'string' variables rather than arrays of chars.

  • Python: Regex outputs 12_34 - I need 1234

    - by Guy F-W
    So I have input coming in like: 12_34 5_6_8_2 4___3 1234 and the output I need from it is: 1234, 5682, 43, 1234 I'm currently working with r'[0-9]+[0-9_]*'.replace('_','') which (as far as I can tell) successfully rejects any input which is not a combination of numeric digits and under-scores, where the underscore cannot be the first character. However, replacing the _ with the empty string causes 12_34 to come out as 12 and 34. Is there a better method than 'replace' for this? Or could I adapt my regex to deal with this problem?

  • Dynamically generate Triangle Lists for a Complex 3D Mesh

    - by Vulcan Eager
    In my application, I have the shape and dimensions of a complex 3D solid (say a Cylinder Block) taken from user input. I need to construct vertex and index buffers for it. Since the dimensions are taken from user input, I cannot user Blender or 3D Max to manually create my model. What is the textbook method to dynamically generate such a mesh? Edit: I am looking for something that will generate the triangles given the vertices, edges and holes. Something like TetGen. As for TetGen itself, I have no way of excluding the triangles which fall on the interior of the solid/mesh.

  • Efficient determination of which strings in an array are substrings of the others?

    - by byte
    In C#, Say you have an array of strings, which contain only characters '0' and '1': string[] input = { "0101", "101", "11", "010101011" }; And you'd like to build a function: public void IdentifySubstrings(string[] input) { ... } That will produce the following: "0101 is a substring of 010101011" "101 is a substring of 0101" "101 is a substring of 010101011" "11 is a substring of 010101011" And you are NOT able to use built-in string functionality (such as String.Substring). How would one efficiently solve this problem? Of course you could plow through it via brute force, but it just feels like there ought to be a way to accomplish it with a tree (since the only values are 0's and 1's, it feels like a binary tree ought to fit somehow). I've read a little bit about things like suffix trees, but I'm uncertain if that's the right path to be going down. Any efficient solutions you can think of?

  • Track only iframe history

    - by evanwong
    I have a page which contains an iframe and I want to track the history of the iframe only. I tried to use the history object like this: <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <title></title> <script type="text/javascript"> function checkFrameHistory() { alert(window.frames["test2"].history.length); } function checkThisHistory() { alert(history.length); } </script> </head> <body> <iframe name="test2" src="test2.html"></iframe> <div> <input type="button" onclick="checkFrameHistory()" value="Frame history"/> <input type="button" onclick="checkThisHistory()" value="This history"/> </div> </body> </html> test2.html <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <title></title> <script type="text/javascript"> function checkMyHistory() { alert(history.length); } </script> </head> <body> <div> Test2 </div> <div> <input type="button" onclick="checkMyHistory()" value="My history"/> </div> </body> </html> but it actually gave me the history including the parent window. For instance, I went to another site in the main window and came back to my iframe test site. Both window.frames["test2"].history.length and history.length still gave me the same count by increasing the length by 2. Did I do it wrong? Is there a way to track only the iframe history?

  • Difference of answers while using split function in Ruby

    - by N L
    Given the following inputs: line1 = "Hey | Hello | Good | Morning" line2 = "Hey , Hello , Good , Morning" file1=length1=name1=title1=nil Using ',' to split the string as follows: file1, length1, name1, title1 = line2.split(/,\s*/) I get the following output: puts file1,length1,name1,title1 >Hey >Hello >Good >Morning However, using '|' to split the string I receive a different output: file1, length1, name1, title1 = line2.split(/|\s*/) puts file1,length1,name1,title1 >H >e >y Both the strings are same except the separating symbol (a comma in first case and a pipe in second case). The format of the split function I am using is also the same except, of course, for the delimiting character. What causes this variation?

  • ASP.NET web service architecture/structure

    - by Murugesan
    Hi All, I am going to create a new asp.net web service (.NET framework 2.0), the functionality of the web service is to recieve xml input, perform the relevant operation (add/modify/delete) based on the input and return codes which indicates the status of the operation. I am planning to implement two layer architecture (Business layer and database layer) for this web service, could anyone advise whether this is the right structure or any other structure would perform well than this. Basically I need some inputs on designing the web service. Thanks in advance. Thanks, Muru

  • Unwanted character being added to string in C

    I have a program that gives you shipping addresses from an input file. However at the beginning of one of the strings, order.add_one, a number is being added to the beginning of the string, that number is equivalent to the variable "choice" every time. Why is it doing this? #include <stdio.h> #include <math.h> #include <string.h> //structure typedef struct {char cust_name[25]; char cust_id[3]; char add_one[30]; char add_two[30]; char bike; char risky; int number_ordered; char cust_information[500]; }ORDER; ORDER order; int main(void){ fflush(stdin); system ( "clear" ); //initialize variables float price; float m = 359.95; float s = 279.95; //while loop, runs until user declares they no longer wish to input orders while (1==1){ printf("Options: \nEnter Customer information manually : 1 \nSearch Customer by ID(input.txt reader) : 2 \n"); int option = 0; scanf(" %d", &option); if (option == 1){ //Print and scan statements printf("Enter Customer Information\n"); printf("Customer Name: "); scanf(" %[^\n]s", &order.cust_name); printf("\nEnter Address Line One: "); scanf(" %[^\n]s", &order.add_one); printf("\nEnter Addres Line Two: "); scanf(" %[^\n]s", &order.add_two); printf("\nHow Many Bicycles Are Ordered: "); scanf(" %d", &order.number_ordered); printf("\nWhat Type Of Bike Is Ordered\n M Mountain Bike \n S Street Bike"); printf("\nChoose One (M or S): "); scanf(" %c", &order.bike); printf("\nIs The Customer Risky (Y/N): "); scanf(" %c", &order.risky); system ( "clear" ); } if (option == 2){ FILE *fpt; fpt = fopen("input.txt", "r"); if (fpt==NULL){ printf("Text file did not open\n"); return 1; } printf("Enter Customer ID: "); scanf("%s", &order.cust_id); char choice; choice = order.cust_id[0]; char x[3]; int w, u, y, z; char a[10], b[10], c[10], d[10], e[20], f[10], g[10], i[1], j[1]; int h; printf("%s value of c", c); if (choice >='1'){ while ((w = fgetc(fpt)) != '\n' ){ } } if (choice >='2'){ while ((u = fgetc(fpt)) != '\n' ){ } } if (choice >='3'){ while ((y = fgetc(fpt)) != '\n' ){ } } if (choice >= '4'){ while ((z = fgetc(fpt)) != '\n' ){ } } printf("\n"); fscanf(fpt, "%s", x); fscanf(fpt, "%s", a); printf("%s", a); strcat(order.cust_name, a); fscanf(fpt, " %s", b); printf(" %s", b); strcat(order.cust_name, " "); strcat(order.cust_name, b); fscanf(fpt, "%s", c); printf(" %s", c); strcat(order.add_one, "\0"); strcat(order.add_one, c); fscanf(fpt, "%s", d); printf(" %s", d); strcat(order.add_one, " "); strcat(order.add_one, d); fscanf(fpt, "%s", e); printf(" %s", e); strcat(order.add_two, e); fscanf(fpt, "%s", f); printf(" %s", f); strcat(order.add_two, " "); strcat(order.add_two, f); fscanf(fpt, "%s", g); printf(" %s", g); strcat(order.add_two, " "); strcat(order.add_two, g); strcat(order.add_two, "\0"); fscanf(fpt, "%d", &h); printf(" %d", h); order.number_ordered = h; fscanf(fpt, "%s", i); printf(" %s", i); order.bike = i[0]; fscanf(fpt, "%s", j); printf(" %s", j); order.risky = j[0]; fclose(fpt); printf("%s %s %s %d %c %c", order.cust_name, order.add_one, order.add_two, order.number_ordered, order.bike, order.risky); }

    I've been trying to add audio to a project I've been doing. I found some code on here for html that is also supposed to work with file but it keeps saying "Exception in thread "main" javax.sound.sampled.UnsupportedAudioFileException: could not get audio input stream from input file at javax.sound.sampled.AudioSystem.getAudioInputStream(Unknown Source) at LoopSound.main(LoopSound.java:15)" the code public class LoopSound { public static void main(String[] args) throws Throwable { File file = new File("c:\\Users\\rabidbun\\Pictures\\10177-m-001.wav"); Clip clip = AudioSystem.getClip(); // getAudioInputStream() also accepts a File or InputStream AudioInputStream wav = AudioSystem.getAudioInputStream( file ); clip.open(wav); // loop continuously clip.loop(-1000); SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable() { public void run() { // A GUI element to prevent the Clip's daemon Thread // from terminating at the end of the main() JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, "Close to exit!"); } }); } } What is wrong with the code?
