  • Home directory messed up

    - by nuthan
    Recently, I installed Ubuntu 12.04. For some reason, i backed-up my home directory contents to another directory(say bkp dir). Precisely, I moved Documents, Pictures, Downloads, etc.. to bkp directory. Now, Deleted all my original home directory contents. I restored all the bkp directory content back to home. I find them all on my Desktop. I believe some kinda chain is broken. I dont find respective home directories icons on them. How do i restore it? Also, i dont find them in my places options. Messed up image link Thanks... ls -lh ~ ~/Desktop nuthan@nuthan-desktop:~$ ls -lh ~ ~/Desktop /home/nuthan: total 2.8M drwxr-x--- 11 nuthan nuthan 4.0K May 28 20:05 android-sdk-linux drwxrwxr-x 4 nuthan nuthan 4.0K May 25 13:36 android-sdks drwxrwxr-x 2 nuthan nuthan 4.0K May 18 17:30 convert -rw-rw-r-- 1 nuthan nuthan 0 May 30 09:07 dependancies~ drwxr-xr-x 2 nuthan nuthan 4.0K Jun 6 14:16 Desktop drwxrwxrwx 6 nuthan nuthan 4.0K Jun 6 12:06 Documents drwxr-xr-x 28 nuthan nuthan 12K Jun 6 13:52 Downloads drwxrwxr-x 2 nuthan nuthan 4.0K Mar 6 13:23 examples -rw-r--r-- 1 nuthan nuthan 8.3K May 11 16:19 examples.desktop drwxrwxr-x 4 nuthan nuthan 4.0K May 18 19:04 github -rw-rw-r-- 1 nuthan nuthan 0 May 28 18:40 linux~ drwxr-xr-x 2 nuthan nuthan 4.0K May 11 16:46 Music drwxrwxr-x 2 nuthan nuthan 4.0K May 30 08:48 node-code drwxrwxr-x 4 nuthan nuthan 4.0K May 30 08:40 node_modules drwxr-xr-x 7 nuthan nuthan 4.0K May 25 13:55 noduino drwxrwxr-x 2 nuthan nuthan 4.0K May 30 11:58 nuthan drwxrwxrwx 3 nuthan nuthan 4.0K May 24 11:13 Pictures drwxrwxr-x 6 nuthan nuthan 4.0K Mar 6 13:23 public drwxr-xr-x 2 nuthan nuthan 4.0K May 25 11:44 Public drwxrwxr-x 2 nuthan nuthan 4.0K May 29 18:50 python -rw-rw-r-- 1 nuthan nuthan 983K Jun 6 14:16 Screenshot from 2012-06-06 14:16:37.png -rw-rw-r-- 1 nuthan nuthan 980K Jun 6 14:20 Screenshot from 2012-06-06 14:20:24.png -rw-rw-r-- 1 nuthan nuthan 731K Jun 6 14:22 Screenshot from 2012-06-06 14:22:06.png drwxrwxr-x 3 nuthan nuthan 4.0K May 31 18:17 sketchbook drwxrwxr-x 2 nuthan nuthan 4.0K Jun 6 13:05 sql -rw-rw-r-- 1 nuthan nuthan 201 May 28 22:08 sql~ drwxr-xr-x 2 nuthan nuthan 4.0K May 11 16:46 Templates -rw-rw-r-- 1 nuthan nuthan 5.1K Jun 4 12:29 test~ drwxrwxr-x 3 nuthan nuthan 4.0K May 14 11:09 Titanium_Studio drwxrwxr-x 4 nuthan nuthan 4.0K May 14 21:00 Titanium Studio Workspace drwxrwxr-x 4 nuthan nuthan 4.0K Jun 1 18:29 TPM_Trak drwxrwxr-x 2 nuthan nuthan 4.0K May 24 17:30 Ubuntu One drwxr-xr-x 2 nuthan nuthan 4.0K May 11 16:46 Videos drwxrwxr-x 6 nuthan nuthan 4.0K May 31 15:10 workspace drwxrwxr-x 3 nuthan nuthan 4.0K May 14 11:57 Zend /home/nuthan/Desktop: total 20K -rw-rw-r-- 1 nuthan nuthan 441 May 30 09:07 dependancies -rw-rw-r-- 1 nuthan nuthan 1.6K May 28 18:40 linux -rw-rw-r-- 1 nuthan nuthan 470 May 28 22:16 sql -rw-rw-r-- 1 nuthan nuthan 5.1K Jun 4 19:34 test nuthan@nuthan-desktop:~$

  • C/C++ Best indentation length?

    - by Tim
I was reading a Vim tutorial ( http://www.oualline.com/vim-cook.html#drawing ), and came across this: This is very useful if you use a 4 space indentation for your C or C++ programs. (Studies at Rice University have shown this to be the best indentation size.) Is there any truth in these studies? Note-- i didn't mean for a flame war in indentation -- just whether anyone else has come across tis study before? EDIT: @MaR I made a poll http://poll.fm/3d5kg

  • E-Business Suite 11.5.10 Fenntartó Támogatással és 12.1 Meghosszabbított Támogatással kapcsolatos külön bejelentés

    - by user552636
Amire ügyelni érdemes, a rendszer a  Doc ID 883202.1 My Oracle Support dokumentumban részletezett minimum patch szinten kell legyen. Standard Oracle árazás szerint a Meghosszabbított Támogatás elso évében a szolgáltatási díj a Premier Támogatás díjának 110%-a, a második, ill. harmadik években a Premier Támogatás díjának 120%-a. Oracle jelen esetben a plusz 10%-tól, ill. a plusz 20 %-tól eltekint. Íly módon a Meghosszabbított Támogatást Oracle a Premier Támogatás díjért biztosítja majd. Amire ügyelni érdemes, a rendszer a  Doc ID 1195034.1 My Oracle Support dokumentumban részletezett minimum patch szinten kell legyen.   Az idoszakok egyszerubb megértése érdekében az alábbi grafikonon ábrázoltam a szóban forgó verziók támogatásának egyes szakaszait.

  • IIS 7 returns 304 instead of 200

  • WebDav rename fails on an Apache mod_dav install behind NginX

    - by The Daemons Advocate
I'm trying to solve a problem with renaming files over WebDav. Our stack consists of a single machine, serving content through Nginx, Varnish and Apache. When you try to rename a file, the operation fails with the stack that we're currently using. To connect to WebDav, a client program must: Connect over https://host:443 to NginX NginX unwraps and forwards the request to a Varnish server on http://localhost:81 Varnish forwards the request to Apache on http://localhost:82, which offers a session via mod_dav Here's an example of a failed rename: $ cadaver https://webdav.domain/ Authentication required for Webdav on server `webdav.domain': Username: user Password: dav:/> cd sandbox dav:/sandbox/> mkdir test Creating `test': succeeded. dav:/sandbox/> ls Listing collection `/sandbox/': succeeded. Coll: test 0 Mar 12 16:00 dav:/sandbox/> move test newtest Moving `/sandbox/test' to `/sandbox/newtest': redirect to http://webdav.domain/sandbox/test/ dav:/sandbox/> ls Listing collection `/sandbox/': succeeded. Coll: test 0 Mar 12 16:00 For more feedback, the WebDrive windows client logged an error 502 (Bad Gateway) and 303 (?) on the rename operation. The extended logs gave this information: Destination URI refers to different scheme or port (https://hostname:443) (want: http://hostname:82). Some other Restrictions: Investigations into NginX's Webdav modules show that it doesn't really fit our needs, and forwarding webdav traffic to Apache isn't an option because we don't want to enable Apache SSL. Are there any ways to trick mod_dav to forward to another host? I'm open to ideas :).

  • How should I fix problems with file permissions while restoring from Time Machine?

    - by Andrew Grimm
While restoring files from a Time Machine backup, I got the error message "The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access some of the items." because of problems with files in one folder. What's the safest way to deal with this? The folder in question has permissions like: Andrew-Grimms-MacBook-Pro:kmer agrimm$ pwd /Volumes/Time Machine Backups/Backups.backupdb/Andrew Grimm’s MacBook Pro/2010-12-09-224309/Macintosh HD/Users/agrimm/ruby/kmer Andrew-Grimms-MacBook-Pro:kmer agrimm$ ls -ltra total 6156896 drwxrwxrwx@ 19 agrimm staff 680 18 Jan 2008 Saccharomyces_cerevisiae -r--------@ 1 agrimm staff 60221852 4 Aug 2009 hs_ref_GRCh37_chrY.fa -r--------@ 1 agrimm staff 157488804 4 Aug 2009 hs_ref_GRCh37_chrX.fa (snip a few files) -r--------@ 1 agrimm staff 676063 27 Oct 2009 NC_001143.fna -rw-r--r--@ 1 agrimm staff 6148 23 Mar 2010 .DS_Store drwxr-xr-x@ 3 agrimm staff 1530 23 Mar 2010 . drwxr-xr-x@ 30 agrimm staff 1054 20 Nov 14:43 .. Is it ok to do sudo chmod, or is there a safer approach? Background: Files within the original folder on my computer also had weird permissions - I suspect I may have used sudo to copy some files from a thumbdrive onto my computer.

  • Stream video file in debian?

    - by Rob
I've tried ffserver with ffmpeg, I've tried VLC, and I'm not sure what else to try or what I've done wrong. I've gone through, with VLC +-[ robert@s10 ]--[ ~ ] +[#!]¬ vlc --version VLC media player 2.0.0 Twoflower (revision 2.0.0-0-g421a4fc) VLC version 2.0.0 Twoflower (2.0.0-0-g421a4fc) Compiled by buildd on biber.debian.org (Mar 1 2012 22:21:37) Compiler: gcc version 4.6.2 (Debian 4.6.2-14) This program comes with NO WARRANTY, to the extent permitted by law. You may redistribute it under the terms of the GNU General Public License; see the file named COPYING for details. Written by the VideoLAN team; see the AUTHORS file. and tried everything I could in the streaming section, but I can't get the stream to actually work. Looking around, apparently debian strips the encoders from the package? I want to do share some videos I've made with friends on IRC, and it would be easiest if I could just stream it so we can all watch at the same time and critique parts of it in real time. Has anyone done something similar? Linux s10 3.2.0-2-686-pae #1 SMP Tue Mar 20 19:48:26 UTC 2012 i686 GNU/Linux Basic home network, I am behind a NAT (192.168.1.*) and have dynamic DNS set up. That doesn't really matter too much, I can figure that out, but it's not even working locally. I have a file server set up and could just share the files that way, but I'd rather have everyone watching at the same time (or just about). Not worried about installing new packages or building something from source, that's not a big issue, just want to get it working. Big plus if I can do it from command line.

  • Why would I be getting IXFR and AXFR transfer denied on my DNS server?

    - by danielj
From everything I've researched and tried, it appears that my named.conf is configured correctly, including the allow-transfer section. Here is a sample of the errors. It is only happening with a couple of my secondary servers, but it is happening for every zone for those servers that are failing. One of the servers is attempting IXFR, the other AXFR. • apache with php fastcgi keeps going down

I have an apache2 server configured with MPM worker and php fast cgi. Lately the apache logs have been telling me that MaxClients is being reached frequently, even though it's already pretty high. My server is now constantly going down, and I see a bunch of lines like this in the log: [Sun Mar 06 04:25:40 2011] [error] [client 50.16.83.115] FastCGI: comm with (dynamic) server "/var/local/fcgi/php-cgi-wrapper.fcgi" aborted: (first read) idle timeout (20 sec) [Sun Mar 06 04:25:40 2011] [error] [client 50.16.83.115] FastCGI: incomplete headers (0 bytes) received from server "/var/local/fcgi/php-cgi-wrapper.fcgi" I can see that my php-cgi processes are pretty large (about 70mb on average). • Degraded RAID-5 array with lvm2 lost superblock and partition table

    - by Fred Phillips
I have a RAID-5 array of 4x1TB hard disks with one lvm2 partition on Ubuntu Linux 10.04 LTS. One of the disks has failed. I have re-assembled the array without this failed disk but now mdadm --examine claims the array has no superblock and fdisk says it has no partition table. • nginx and proxy_hide_header

    - by giskard
    When I curl for a URL I get this answer back: > < HTTP/1.1 200 OK < Server: nginx/0.7.65 < Date: Thu, 04 Mar 2010 12:18:27 GMT < Content-Type: application/json < Connection: close < Expires: Thu, 04 Mar 2010 12:18:27 UTC < http.context.path: /1/ < jersey.response: com.sun.jersey.spi.container.ContainerResponse@17646d60 < http.custom.headers: {Content-Type=text/plain} < http.request.path: /2/messages/latest.json < http.status: 200 < Transfer-Encoding: chunked I want to remove < http.context.path: /1/ < jersey.response: com.sun.jersey.spi.container.ContainerResponse@17646d60 < http.custom.headers: {Content-Type=text/plain} < http.request.path: /2/messages/latest.json < http.status: 200 So I used the proxy_hide_header directive in this way: location / { if ($arg_id) { proxy_pass http..authorized; break; } proxy_pass http..anonymous; proxy_hide_header http.context.path; proxy_hide_header jersey.response; proxy_hide_header http.request.path; proxy_hide_header http.status ; } But it doesn't work. any clues?

  • SSH Private Key Not Working in Some Directories

    - by uesp
I have a strange issue where SSH won't properly connect with a private-key if the key file is in certain directories. I've setup the keys on a set of servers and the following command ssh -i /root/privatekey [email protected] works fine and I login to the given host without getting prompted by a password, but this command: ssh -i /etc/keyfiles/privatekey [email protected] gives me a password prompt. I've narrowed it down that this behavior occurs in only some sub-directories of /etc/. For example /etc/httpd1/ gives me a password prompt but /etc/httpd/ does not. What I've checked so far: All private key files used are identical (copied from the original file). The private key file and directories used have identical permissions. No relevant error messages in the server/client logs. No interesting debug messages from ssh -v (it just seems to skip the key file). It happens with connecting to different hosts. After more testing it is not the actual directory name. For example: mkdir /etc/test cp /root/privatekey /etc/test ssh -i /etc/test/privatekey [email protected] # Results in password prompt cp /root/privatekey /etc/httpd # Existing directory ls -ald test httpd # drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 4096 Mar 5 18:25 httpd # drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Mar 5 18:43 test ssh -i /etc/httpd/privatekey [email protected] # Results in *no* prompt rm -r test cp -R /etc/httpd /etc/test ssh -i /etc/test/privatekey [email protected] # Results in *no* prompt` I'm sure its just something simple I've overlooked but I'm at a loss.

  • Requesting better explanation for expires headers

    - by syn4k
I have successfully implemented expires headers however, for several days I have been stumped by one thing. This article: http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/how-to-add-far-future-expires-headers-to-your-wordpress-site-1533 states Keep in mind that when you use expires header the files are cached in the browser until it expires so do not use this on files that changes frequently. Other sites indicate the same in my reading. But this doesn't seem to be true. I have updated an image, using the same name, several times. Each time I update and refresh my browser, the new image (with the same name) displays. I understand from this article that the old image should display unless I use a new name. Do you happen to know where the misunderstanding is? I have verified that the image in question has expires headers set on it: Request Headers: Host domain.com User-Agent Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; en-US; rv:1.9.2.28) Gecko/20120306 Firefox/3.6.28 FirePHP/0.5 Accept image/png,image/*;q=0.8,*/*;q=0.5 Accept-Language en-us,en;q=0.5 Accept-Encoding gzip, deflate Accept-Charset ISO-8859-1,utf-8;q=0.7,*;q=0.7 Keep-Alive 115 Connection keep-alive Referer http://domain.com/index.php Cookie __utma=1.61479883.1332439113.1332783348.1332796726.4; __utmz=1.1332439113.1.1.utmcsr=(direct)|utmccn=(direct)|utmcmd=(none);PHPSESSID=lv2hun9klt2nhrdkdbqt8abug7; __utmb=1.33.10.1332796726; __utmc=1; ck_authorized=true x-insight activate If-Modified-Since Mon, 26 Mar 2012 21:55:33 GMT Cache-Control max-age=0 Response Headers: Date Mon, 26 Mar 2012 22:06:50 GMT Server Apache/2.2.3 (CentOS) Connection close Expires Wed, 25 Apr 2012 22:06:50 GMT Cache-Control max-age=2592000

  • Ngix rewrite is not working as expected

    - by SamFisher83
    I am trying to learn how to use nginx and how to use its rewrite functionality Nginx seems to be doing the rewrite: 2012/03/27 16:30:26 [notice] 16216#0: *3 "foo.php" matches "/foo.php", client: 61.90.22.223, server: localhost, request: "GET /foo.php HTTP/1.1", host: "domain.com" 2012/03/27 16:30:26 [notice] 16216#0: *3 rewritten data: "img.php", args: "", client: 61.90.22.223, server: localhost, request: "GET /foo.php HTTP/1.1", host: "domain.com" but in my access log I am getting the following: 61.90.22.223 - - [27/Mar/2012:16:26:54 +0000] "GET /foo.php HTTP/1.1" 404 31 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:11.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/11.0" 61.90.22.223 - - [27/Mar/2012:16:30:26 +0000] "GET /foo.php HTTP/1.1" 404 31 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:11.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/11.0" There is an img.php in the root directory so I am not sure why I am getting a 404 error Here is part of the configuration block: rewrite foo.php img.php last; location / { try_files $uri $uri/ /index.html; } location ~ \.php$ { fastcgi_pass 127.0.0.1:9000; fastcgi_index index.php; include fastcgi_params; } # deny access to .htaccess files, if Apache's document root # concurs with nginx's one # location ~ /\.ht { deny all; }

  • Subversion error: Repository moved permanently to please relocate

    - by Bart S.
I've set up subversion and apache on my server. If I browse to it through my webbrowser it works fine (http://svn.host.com/reposname). However, if I do a checkout on my machine I get the following error: Command: Checkout from http://svn.host.com/reposname, revision HEAD, Fully recursive, Externals included Error: Repository moved permanently to 'http://svn.host.com/reposname/'; please relocate I checked apache's error log, but it doesn't say anything. (it does now - see edit) My repositories are stored under: /var/www/svn/repos/ My website is stored under: /var/www/vhosts/x/... Here's the conf file for the subdomain: <Location /> DAV svn SVNParentPath /var/www/svn/repos/ AuthType Basic AuthName "Authorization Realm" AuthUserFile /var/www/svn/auth/svn.htpasswd Require valid-user </Location> Authentication works fine. Does anyone know what might be causing this? -- Edit So I restarted apache (again) and tried it again and now it give me an error message, but it doesn't really help. Anyone have an idea what it means? [Wed Mar 31 23:41:55 2010] [error] [client my.ip.he.re] Could not fetch resource information. [403, #0] [Wed Mar 31 23:41:55 2010] [error] [client my.ip.he.re] (2)No such file or directory: The URI does not contain the name of a repository. [403, #190001] -- Edit 2 If I do svn info it doesn't give anything usefull: [root@eduro eduro.nl]# svn info http://svn.domain.com/repos/ Username: username Password for 'username': svn: Repository moved permanently to 'http://svn.domain.com/repos/'; please relocate I also tried doing a local checkout (svn checkout file:///var/www/svn/repos/reposname) and that works fine (also adding / commiting works fine). So it seems is has something to do with apache. Some other information: I'm running CentOs 5.3 Plesk 9.3 Subversion, version 1.6.9 (r901367) -- Edit 3 I tried moving the repositories, but it didn't make any difference. selinux is disabled so that isn't it either. -- Edit 4 Really? Nobody :(?

Has my server been rooted? I am running fail2ban and do monitor failed ssh logins. nothing has come up. Could someone compare these hashes to their copy of Ubuntu Server (lts)? Please tell me these are false positives..... Edit: is something else like rkhunter I can run for a second scan?

  • Why isn't Apache Basic authentication working?

    - by Brad
I just upgraded Apache from it's 2003 build, to a squeaky-clean, brand-new 2.4.1 build. All seems pretty good except for one glaring thing: In my httpd.conf file I have the following: <Directory /> AllowOverride none Options FollowSymLinks AuthType Basic AuthName "Enter Password" AuthUserFile /var/www/.htpasswd Require valid-user </Directory> This should allow only users in the specified auth file to access the server - just as it had under the older version of Apache. (Right?) However, it's not working. Requests are granted with no authentication provided. When I switch logging to LogLevel Debug, for the accesses, it says: [Sat Mar 24 21:32:00.585139 2012] [authz_core:debug] [pid 10733:tid 32771] mod_authz_core.c(783): [client 192.168.1.181:57677] AH01626: authorization result of Require all granted: granted [Sat Mar 24 21:32:00.585446 2012] [authz_core:debug] [pid 10733:tid 32771] mod_authz_core.c(783): [client 192.168.1.181:57677] AH01626: authorization result of <RequireAny>: granted I really don't know what this means - and I (to the best of my knowledge) don't have any "Require all granted" or "" statements in any of my files. Any ideas why this isn't working, or where to debug??

    - by Abhic
I just set up Web Sharing in Mac OS X 10.6.2 Snow Leopard. My httpd.conf allows for ExecCGI and all the folders and files are readable by everybody and even writable by me. I put a simple Hello World in index.php in my base site and yet my apache error log shows this: [Thu Mar 18 00:17:18 2010] [error] [client 192.168.11.135] (13)Permission denied: exec of '/Users/abhic/Sites/index.php' failed [Thu Mar 18 00:17:18 2010] [error] [client 192.168.11.135] Premature end of script headers: index.php <html> <head> <title> Hello </title> </head> <body> <?php echo "Hello"; ?> </body> </html> is what my index.php looks like placed in /Users/abhic/Sites My browser shows a 500 Internal Server Error Any help would do me good in the middle of the night. I have been trying to solve this for way too long. Thank you.

(Including Screenshots & Code Snippets) Kunal Chowdhury has a pretty complete Silverlight 5 feature set from the Firestarter and an embedded copy of Scott Guthrie's kenote running on the page: New Features Announced for Silverlight 5 Beta From SilverlightCream.com: Just how productive is WP7 development compared to iOS, Android and mobile Web? András Velvárt blogged about a contest he took part in to build a WP7 app in 1-1/2 hours without any prior knowledge of it's funtion. He and his team-mate were pitted against other teams on Android, IOS, and mobile Web... guess who got (almost) their entire app running? ... just too cool Andras! ... Grouping Records in Silverlight DataGrid using PagedCollectionView Kunal Chowdhury has a couple good posts up, this first one is on using the PagedCollectionView to group the records in a DataGrid... code included. Filtering Records in Silverlight DataGrid using PagedCollectionView Kunal Chowdhury then continues with another post on the PagedCollectionView only this time is showing how to do some filtering. DeepZoom Tips and Techniques AvraShow has a post up discussing using DeepZoom to explore, in his case, a Printed Circuit Board, with information about how he proceeded in doing that, and some tips and techniques along the way.
