• Wrapping with Dependency Properties

  I've got a Windows Forms control that I'm wrapping with a WindowsFormsHost-derived class to access WPF's data binding functionality. The Forms control exposes properties that indicate its state, along with the standard property-changed event notifier. For example, a Zoom property on the Forms control is accompanied with a ZoomChanged event. In the WindowsFormsHost wrapper, I'm using a DependencyProperty to represent the underlying Windows Forms control property. Binding works as expected going to the control; however, I'm not sure how to correctly propogate property changes from the wrapped control back out to binding subscribers (i.e., the Windows Form control changes its Zoom property and raises the ZoomChanged event). Any ideas on how to accomplish this? Should I be using a different approach?

  I (and co-hackers) are building a sort of trivia game inspired by this blog post: http://messymatters.com/calibration. The idea is to give confidence intervals and learn how to be calibrated (when you're "90% sure" you should be right 90% of the time). We're thus looking for, ideally, thousands of questions with unambiguous numerical answers. Also, they shouldn't be too boring. There are a lot of random statistics out there -- eg, enclosed water area in different countries -- that would make the game mind-numbing. Things like release dates of classic movies are more interesting (to most people). Other interesting ones we've found include Olympic records, median incomes for different professions, dates of famous inventions, and celebrity ages. Scraping things like above, by the way, was my reason for asking this question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2611418/scrape-html-tables So, if you know of other sources of interesting numerical facts (in a parsable form) I'm eager for pointers to them.   Hi, I'm not sure how I would do this in Javascript. I want to create an array that would contain any number of error messages from my form. I read on websites that you define the key for that array when adding new entries. // Javascript var messages = new Array(); messages[0] = 'Message 1'; How can I add entries into my array using a similar method I normally do in PHP // PHP $messages = array(); $messages[] = 'Message 1'; // automatically assigned key 0 $messages[] = 'Message 2'; // automatically assigned key 1 Is it possible to emulate that in Javascript? • PHP Associative Array Duplicate Key?

  Hello, I have an associative array, however when I add values to it using the below function it seems to overwrite the same keys. Is there a way to have multiple of the same keys with different values? Or is there another form of array that has the same format? • How come module-level validators are evaluated only after property-level validators?

  I'm using the module-level validator: 'PropertiesMustMatch' on my view-model, like so: [PropertiesMustMatch("Password", "PasswordConfirm")] public class HomeIndex { [Required] public string Name { get; set; } public string Password { get; set; } public string PasswordConfirm { get; set; } } I'm noticing that if I submit the form without Name filled in, the ValidationSummary() helper returns only the following error: The Name field is required. However, if I fill in Name, then ValidationSummary() will return a PropertiesMustMatch error: 'Password' and 'PasswordConfirm' do not match. So it looks like the property-level validators are being evaluated first, then the model-level validators. I would much prefer if they were all validated at once, and ValidationSummary would return: The Name field is required. 'Password' and 'PasswordConfirm' do not match. Any ideas what I can do to fix this? I'm studying the MVC 2 source-code to try to determine why this happens.

• Cleaning up nasty characters in PHP

  Hi folks, Got a little issue where my client is pasting in content from Word into my little text editor in a CMS. The double quotes are coming back encoded in what looks like some form of UTF. Any ideas if I can strip/replace these using PHP when they get displayed out of my mySQL table. • Sketchflow component target parent state

  Hi, I'm using Sketchflow in Expression Blend 4 RC (although this is relevant to Blend 3 too). I have a screen with a datagrid on it (MainScreen) and there's a "New" button. I have a component screen that has a generic form (GenericForm) and a "Save and close" button. I have two states on MainScreen: State1 (and default): GenericForm visibility set to Hidden State2: GenericForm visibility set to Visible The "New" button on MainScreen has: Active State = State2, meaning when the "New" button is pressed, it changes the state of MainScreen to State2 (where the GenericForm component is visible). My problem is that I cannot link the "Save and close" button on GenericForm to State1 on MainScreen. In effect I would like to be able to press "Save and close" and for the MainScreen to set its state to State1. Any ideas?

  It's pretty straightforward to add simple properties to a User Control that will appear in the desired categories in the Windows Forms designer, e.g.: [Category("Appearance")] public Color BackColor { get { return _textBox.BackColor; } set { _textBox.BackColor = value; } } What if I want to expose a more complex property, such as a collection of items of a type I define? I'm thinking something along the lines of the ListView.Items property, or the DataGridView.Columns property -- where the user of the control can access this complex property via a more specialized pop-up form (as opposed to a simple TextBox or ComboBox). Even a simple nudge in the right direction would be much appreciated.

• Looking for "tech call" tracking software.

  The company I work for is looking for the best way to track "tech calls". We would most likely develop in house using vb.net, but possibly could look at using some open source vb.net software already out there. We will probably want to track just the basic info like client, datetime, length of call & a notes section about the call. One idea that has floated around is recording everyone's calls, watching a directory for new files and popping up a form so the user can enter the info when the call is over. We really don't want to spend a lot of time tracking/logging these calls, something quick & simple. Anybody have a good idea or solution that they have used before?

  Hello, I need to do some processing only after the user has successfully logged in the system. I have thought that I can do a RESTful method and setting it as the default-target-url so when the login is successful it goes to this url and then I can redirect to the real index of my web application. <form-login login-page='/login.htm' default-target-url='/home.htm' always-use-default-target='true' /> The problem is that this processing can be executed by calling its URL so it could be executed by any user at any time. I want to make sure it is only executed after login. Is there any way to do this? Thank you very much.

I don't want to use primary key for the association (referencedColumnName). I need it to work when you login and press "Remember me on this computer" I'm not sure how to set it up to actually remember your login and keep you logged in when you come back to the app. Is there a way to 'save' the state of the application when you quite it and come back to what you were doing? • In MVC2, how do I validate fields that aren't in my data model?

  I am playing with MVC2 in VS 2010 and am really getting to like it. In a sandbox application that I've started from scratch, my database is represented in an ADO.NET entity data model and have done much of the validation for fields in my data model using Scott Guthrie's "buddy class" approach which has worked very well. However, in a user registration form that I have designed and am experimenting with, I'd like to add a 'confirm email address' or a 'confirm password' field. Since these fields obviously wouldn't exist in my data model, how would I validate these fields client side and server side? I would like to implement something like 'Html.ValidationMessageFor', but these fields don't exist in the data model. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• Populating <validuser/> field in WorkItem

  Hi I've created a new WorkItem named Project that contains a field named business owner which can be any domain user. The field was created using the WorkItem XML syntax using the tag. I have a problem that only TFS valid users (as the name suggests :)) show up the the combobox in the Visual Studio form. Is there any way for me to let that box contain all domain users without having to give all users some tfs read access ? If not then what is the minimum access that I can apply in TFS that I can give to all domain users ? Or is there some other way that I can't notice ?

The text() function returns the email fine, but when I call text() after I have changed the echo mode, it returns 0. I've been pouring over the documentation looking for anything regarding the text() function and how it operates when Password mode is on, however I have not found anything. Does anybody know how this is done?

I have a listview whose ItemsSource property is set to a list in my object 'Product.DetailsList'. Listview columns are bound to object properties in 'Product.DetailsList' Up till here everything works fine. However, since it looks so much like the UITableViewCellAccessoryDetailDisclosureButton my assumption is that this green checkmark icon is provided by the iPhone OS in some form or fashion. So, my question is: how can I use the green checkmark icon and/or other OS-provided images in my own applications? • 2 Runtime Packages: how can I use a unit from each other? (Delphi)

  Hi, Lets assume we have 2 runtime packages, with 1 form in each one; Pkg1 -> Unit1 (frm1) Pkg2 -> Unit2 (frm2) Now I want that they "know" each other. When pkg1 needs to know Unit2, we have to "require" Pkg2 in Pkg1. So now I can do a "uses" Unit2 and then do frm2.Show in Unit1 code. But when I do the same thing in Pkg2 (set to require Pkg1), it does not compile, informing that Pgk2 already have a unit name Unit2 (I think is because Pkg1 is requiring Pkg2). So, how to: in Unit1 do a "uses Unit2" and in Unit2 do a "uses Unit1"? Thanks in advance.
