  • Preventing comboBox keyboard selection

    - by Cornel
As you now the user can select an item from the comboBox by keyboard directly. By mouse I block the user to select some items depending on the behind object state. What's the best solution to stop this when the user uses the keyboard?

  • Mdi Children Changed in .Net

    - by Ben
Hi Is there a simple way of tracking the change of an Mdi's children i.e. when they are created and closed, something like an event OnMdiChildListChanged (I realise this doesn't actually exist). I am also aware that I could have a method within my Mdi that handles the creation of child forms and logs the state of them or even create an Interface that defines that a child form has a "NotifyParent" method that is then called on close of the form, but i was wondering if there was any built in events that i could plumb into? Thanks

  • Non class files with Java Web Start

    - by Michael Munsey
How do you distribute other files needed by your application that aren't in a jar file? For example, the application at http://www.javabeginner.com/java-swing/java-swing-shuffle-game . The download contains Shuffle.jar, Shuffle.bat, Score.dat, and an images folder with 3 images in it. I can see possibly putting the images directly in Shuffle.jar, but you wouldn't want to put Score.dat in the jar file because it changes. Is there somewhere you could identify this type of file in the jnlp?

Is there any way of doing this? Thanks ahead of time.

  • Insert Image in richTextBoxControl

    - by Rahat
What is the best way to insert an image programatically into the RichTextBox control in C# Winforms? If the method is using Clipboard then what is the optimized way to keep the Clipboard original data (i.e. the data state before placing my image on the Clipboard) available to be replaced after my temporary usage of Clipboard for inseting my image in Rich Text Box Control.

  • How to split and dispatch an async control-flow using Continuations?

    - by hotzen
Hello, I have an asynchronous control-flow like the following: ActorA ! DoA(dataA, callback1, callbackOnErrorA) def callback1() = { ... ActorB ! DoB(dataB, callback2, callbackOnErrorB) } def callback2() = { ActorC ! DoC(dataC, callback3, callbackOnErrorC) } ... How would I divide this flow into several parts (continuations) and sequentially dispatch these to different actors (or threads/tasks) while maintaining the overall state? Any hint appreciated, Thanks

  • Cannot change the height of a combo box in the VS Dialog Editor

    - by Hamish Morrison
Any combo box I create seems to be stuck at 12 dialog units in height. Microsoft's guidelines for spacing and sizing of controls in dialog boxes state that a combo box should be 14 dialog units high. I have even tried editing the resource file in notepad and recompiling in Visual Studio without opening the resource editor - but the combo boxes are still the wrong size! Any ideas?

  • Collision Detection for arbitrarily sized, positioned and rotated rectangles in XNA

    - by Stefan
I'm working with xna in C# and in my game I will have a variety of space ships flying all over the place. They will each have an arbitrary rotation, size and position in space and I need a method to determine when they collide. Ideally the method would take two Rectangles, two doubles and two Vector2s for size, rotation and position respectively and return a boolean that indicates whether they have intersected or not.

  • IE8 Session sharing across tabs and windows

    - by Clint
Has anyone implemented any effective solutions to address the numerous issues that are caused by IE8's session sharing functionality? We've gotten very close by writing a custom http module that compares session and view state values, but our efforts are thwarted by things such as accelerator keys and unaccceptable copying of session objects. This is a VB.Net web app.

  • Pretty Pixel-level Picture Painting, Programatically

    - by dreeves
My mac laptop has 1,024,000 pixels. What's the simplest way to turn my display completely black and go nuts with writing little programs to twiddle pixels to my heart's delight? To make it more concrete, say I wanted to implement the Chaos Game to draw a Sierpinski triangle, at the pixel level, with nothing else on the screen. What are ways to do that?

  • Google App Engine - Error vacuuming indexes

    - by Spines
I had an index that had status error, so following the docs I tried to vacuum my indexes to remove it. When running appcfg.py to vacuum it I got this error message: Error 400: --- begin server output --- Deleting a composite index failed: ApplicationError: 1 --- end server output --- Now all of my indexes are in error state. How can I fix this?

  • modal forms and shared data,

    - by Tumble
I've written a couple of c# forms applications which use a lot of the same data/objects which would better be combined. I realise I could use modal forms to launch each of these but where should I state .dll's and other resources, on the parent form? or on each other form where necessary?

  • Can Firefox Plugin, Greasmonkey, be detected by Web Servers?

    - by Babar
Hi, My friend's account for some Facebook game was suspended on the grounds that he had Greasemonkey installed on his browser. He is asked to uninstall Greasemonkey and account has been restored. My question is how can a web server detect a client side plugin presence? I assume that Greasemonkey or greasemonkey scripts operate on the client side only so it would not be possible for the server to detect it. Thanks.

  • Load a Lua script into a table named after filename

I load scripts using luaL_loadfile and then lua_pcall from my game, and was wondering if instead of loading them into the global table, I could load them into a table named after their filename? For example: I have I file called "Foo.lua", which contains this: function DoSomething() --something end After loading it I want to be able to access it like: Foo.DoSomething() Thanks!

  • How can I run an external program from C and parse its output?

    - by Josh Matthews
I've got a utility that outputs a list of files required by a game. How can I run that utility within a C program and grab its output so I can act on it within the same program? UPDATE: Good call on the lack of information. The utility spits out a series of strings, and this is supposed to be complete portable across Mac/Windows/Linux. Please note, I'm looking for a programmatic way to execute the utility and retain its output (which goes to stdout).

  • What programming shortcuts do you end up regretting or backing out?

    - by bryanjonker
I saw this question and it reminded me of AutoGenerateColumns in the old DataGrid. The few times I've used them, I ended up backing it out because I needed data formatting past the standard "spit out the Data Source columns." Likewise, with toggle, it sounds like it would save time, but then you end up needing to keep track of state or something else, and you rewrite the code accordingly. Are there things that you end up using thinking it will save you time, but end up backing out because it doesn't do what you need?
