• How can I know the IP address of a remote host by using UDP broadcast message?

  Hi All, I am developing an embedded system and very new to this TCP\IP. My problem is that once I installed my board in a local network and this board will acquire its IP address dynamically, it has to communicate with a client application running on one of the PC(other than DHCP server) in the network. To communicate with this new board the client application is required to know the IP address of the board. What is the way to know the IP address of the board? Will UDP broadcast work for this purpose? If yes please, explain in detail as I am unable to understand it. Please provide me some sample code in C if possible. Regards, Satinder

  I want to have a tooltip hover highlight thingy in jqplot. The problem is that I want it to give more detail then on the axes. So the formatter should be different. I can't get it to display the seconds to: There's a JS fidle here! I want the timestamp to display as hours:minutes:seconds, which would be format string '%H:%M:%S' or '%T' or '%X'. • What are the lesser known but cool data structures ?

  There a some data structures around that are really cool but are unknown to most programmers. Which are they? Everybody knows linked lists, binary trees, and hashes, but what about Skip lists, Bloom filters for example. I would like to know more data structures that are not so common, but are worth knowing because they rely on great ideas and enrich a programmer's tool box. PS: I am also interested on techniques like Dancing links which make interesting use of the properties of a common data structure. EDIT: Please try to include links to pages describing the data structures in more detail. Also, try to add a couple of words on why a data structures is cool (as Jonas Kölker already pointed out). Also, try to provide one data-structure per answer. This will allow the better data structures to float to the top based on their votes alone.

  Magento 1.4 Default Product Details image size is 265x265. All of our product images will be probably 2x taller than wide, and even if we pad them to make them square 265 will be too small to see detail in the image, so we'd like to make the image taller. I found the media.phtml file How would we go about modifying this file/Magento so that the product details page image is 265W x 530H.   Using VS 2010, with ASP.NET, and .NET 3.0, and C#... When I use a System.Web.UI.WebControls.SqlDataSource and call its Insert() method to insert a new row, and that table has an identity column, I'd like my method to return the value of that column. For example, in my SQL 2005 table, I've got: Customer.Id Customer.FirstName Customer.LastName Where Customer.Id is an identity colum. When I call my method InsertNewCustomerRecord( "John", "Smith" ), I'd like to be able to return the Customer.Id that gets automatically generated in the database.   Hello, I trying to do billing service. Seller can create bill from my website and send to the buyer. Once seller created bill, bill detail will be send to buyer email address. What I want to know is, at the bill information email, can i send payment link whether buyer can click payment link and carried to the paypal payment page directly. Will not be landing or redirecting from our page. Can it be possible ? Because when someone request money from paypal, we get the payment link from paypal which is directly go to the payment page. • NavBar displaying back twice when app changed to landscape mode

  Hi, Not sure what's going on here, but my iPhone apps nav bar shows back and the title of my detail view controller even when I'm back to the original view. It wasn't happening earlier, it has changed recently (but not sure when exactly). E.g. I click on a row, view the didSelectRow XIB and then click back on the NavBar controller, but it still shows back even though the view does change back to the original table view. I then have to press back again and then it clears. Update: It's as if its trying to go back three times instead of two. Because, if you visit another row without removing the back button, it stores it as if you need to go back twice. It works fine in portrait mode. Any ideas?

  Setup I am using Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect Professional edition 7.5: http://www.sparxsystems.com.au/ and MS PowerPoint. Problem I have various audiences for presentations requiring display in MS PowerPoint -- ranging from managers to developers, whose depth of technical knowledge and requirements for knowledge varies. Question I have tried various settings for fonts, colors, and so on, but displaying a diagram with any level of detail (even simple class diagrams). These diagrams are very difficult to fit into a PowerPoint slide and render well when using a projector or a Live Meeting. Am I on the wrong path here, or is there a better/correct way to accomplish this? Thank you for the help, -bn

• I am not able launch JNLP aaplications using "Java Web Start"?

  Up until recently, I was able to launch/open JNLP files in Firefox using Java web start. Don't know what happened all of a sudden JNLP files stopped launching, a splash screen appears saying Java Starting... and then nothing happens. Even the Java Console in the browser and javacpl.cpl applet doesn't open. Tried all possibilities: removed all older version and installed the latest JRE (java version "1.6.0_17"), still it doesn't work. Done some googling for this problem, people suggested to start javaws.exe with -viewer option but same behavior (a splash screen appears saying "Java Starting..." and then disappears) The problem is that I don't know any place (logs etc.) to look for to see what is causing the problem. I am using WinXP SP3, and some of the screenshots below shows further info about my system. I can provide any other detail if required but please help me solve this problem. Update: Although this question is bit old, Following solution fixed above issue for me (indeed this was the actual cause)

  I came across the following URL today: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/inmarin/detail??blogid=122&entry_id=64497 Notice the doubled question mark at the beginning of the query string: ??blogid=122&entry_id=64497 My browser didn't seem to have any trouble with it, and running a quick bookmarklet: javascript:alert(document.location.search); just gave me the query string shown above. Is this a valid URL? The reason I'm being so pedantic (assuming that I am) is because I need to parse URLs like this for query parameters, and supporting doubled question marks would require some changes to my code. Obviously if they're in the wild, I'll need to support them; I'm mainly curious if it's my fault for not adhering to URL standards exactly, or if it's in fact a non-standard URL.

  Hi, I am currently building a prototype for a new system screen, and i am using c# to build this. The question i have is, i currently have 14 textboxes which are filled from a condition from a couple of other controls on the screen. these 14 textboxes all add up to a total shown in another textbox. as these textboxes are editable (in case the client wishes to increase the value) (cant go into to much detail but they will) I need to have a firable ontextchange event for when the values change so the total box updates. however i have a feeling there must be a way of not having to create 14 different events, is there a way that i can have 1 event which fires if any of the 14 text boxes are fired? thanks Alan

• XSS exploit when JavaScript is disabled

  I'm getting pretty frustrated trying to make McAffee whitelist a supposed exploit on a site i work on. The issue is that their automated system has detected a supposed XSS exploit but the exploit only exists when JavaScript is disabled. Given the fact that you need JavaScript to be disabled for the exploit to exist then surely this means this is not an exploit. Can anyone think of any possible arguments to the contrary? Update - To add more detail: The problem comes from in one place unsanitized URL content is written to an anchor tag href.So, with JS disabled you could have something like this: <a href="foor.php?"><script>alert('foo')</script>#someanchor" .. When JavaScript is enabled this href is updated to be this (on dom ready): <a href="javascript:;">link</a> So, with JS enabled the link is no longer injected, with JS disabled the alert would no longer execute.

When I try to run the console application, I'm getting this error: An invalid or incomplete configuration was used while creating a SessionFactory. Check PotentialReasons collection, and InnerException for more detail. I have created a SQLite database "firstProject.db" and referenced the full path to the file in the call to: return Fluently.Configure() .Database(SQLiteConfiguration.Standard .UsingFile(DbFile)) .Mappings(m => m.FluentMappings.AddFromAssemblyOf<Program>()) .ExposeConfiguration(BuildSchema) .BuildSessionFactory(); so I don't know what I'm doing wrong.   I've got an application I've been working on. There are projects and employees, projects can have several employees, employees can work on several projects. Right now I want selecting a project to display which employees are related to it, and allows me to add employees I select from another full-roster list. Somehow, this has proven more complicated, because (at least for now), selecting different projects still displays the same list of employees, as if all employees who'd been assigned to any project, belong to all of them. • UI Guidelines for Android Honeycomb on Tablets

  The UI in Android Honeycomb is very different. I'm looking for things that have changed that would be of interest to developers. Google hasn't updated it's UI guidelines yet, so I am trying to find this stuff out by inspecting the layouts. I am mainly interested in dimensions of icons and new types of views. The action bar height is 56dp (?android:attr/actionBarSize). It seems that the menu icons are 32 x 32 dp now, they were 48 x 48 dp before. Since they are in the action bar, they have a lot of padding around them. The size of a menu icon with padding is 64 x 56 dp. I needed this since I was trying to put a ProgressBar as a menu item. Anything else change? Also, I'm interested in the size of some common UI patterns, like the widths for a list/detail layout like the mail client.

  I'm learning WPF with MVVM and for a starter, I viewed Jason Dolinger's video on MVVM . In that he mentioned, that one of the advantage of using MVVM with WPF is two-way data binding. My question is what does he mean by two-way data binding? Is that the feature of ability to 1) bind data from controls(View) to properties in VM and 2) any change in collections or properties are reflected in the view? If I'm wrong, can anyone please explain me in detail what it is and what are its advantages? This might be a very simple doubt, but I'm very new to WPF and it's terminologies and moving away from WinForms now.
