  We have a website that displays information in a location based manner, i.e. it detects the IP of the visiting user and redirects him/her to an appropriate landing page; for e.g. a user coming from 'Egypt' will be redirected to http://www.mysite.com/egypt/cairo and a user visting from dubai will be redirected to http://www.mysite.com/uae/dubai, so on and so forth and we cater to multiple locations in the middle-east. Now, we have been advised by our SEO consultant that we should put a 301 (permanent redirect) on http://www.mysite.com to point to http://www.mysite.com/ksa/riyadh I would like to know the negative implications that this would have on Google indexing or otherwise, as I fundamentally disagree with this suggestion and believe that in a siutation like this a 302 redirect would be more appropriate.

  I am testing my Hibernate DAOs with Spring and JUnit. I would like each test method to start with a pre-populated DB, i.e. the Java objects have been saved in the DB, in a Hibernate transaction that has already been committed. How can I do this? With @After and @Before, methods execute in the same Hibernate transaction as the methods decorated with @Test and @Transactional (first level cache may not be flushed by the time the real test method starts). @BeforeTransaction and @AfterTransaction apparently cannot work with Hibernate because they don't create transactions even if the method is annotated with @Transactional in addition to @Before/AfterTransaction. Any suggestion?

  "The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading." Hi, I am trying to load a php page on apache , but none of the static content gets loaded. Using firebug I captured the static url and tried it separately, when I received "The connection was reset" message. The site works other computers mac, windows, linux but no on mine. I have deleted the cache, disabled firewall, changed my dns service and followed every possible suggestion on the web. I have no clue on why this is happening. Stack-overflow has been my bible and has never let me down before, hope it still doesn't ... Thanks a lot in advance .... please please please , i really have to figure out this error. Regards Dilip

Does anyone have a good trick for doing the upgrade, from installing the software to copying all the settings/packages over? • Testing file uploading and downloading speed using FTP

  Hi all, I am working in a desktop application using java. In my application i have to perform a speed test which will show the file uploading and downloading speed. For uploading test i am uploading a small test file to a FTP server and based on time taken i am calculating the file upload speed. similarly i am downloading a test file form server and calculating download speed. But result i am getting doesn't match with actual FTP file uploading and downloading speed.it seems that the establishing connection to FTP server is increasing the time, hence the resultant speed i am calculating is less. Could you suggest any link or some way to get nearest uploading and downloading speed. i thanks to all your valuable suggestion.

  OK, I found a walkthrough on msdn for what I was after (offline database cache). However when I let the wizard create a local database from my online sql server the timespan fields are converted to a string?? Now I know the suggestion was to create my own local database and then use the MS Synch framework...however...this proclaims to do it "out of the box" However now I've a dataset which I've no idea how to use, and a database newly formed (for the synched cache) taht I will have to use Ling to Entities with(??) meanwhile I have this weird timespan to string conversion? should I give up now or push on? can i overwrite the the .designer.cs? typeof(string) to typeof(timespan)? damn wizards!!

• Clicking MDI children form doesn't bring it to front

  This is a winform question in .net. In a MDI form, if I open several children forms, for some forms, if they are not activated (if you overlap them with the activate one, they are not up to front. Only the activate form is up to front.), clicking them don't bring them to front. This is even true if I click controls on them, such as a textbox. The textbox gets focus and you can intput things, but that form is still not activated. Interestingly enough, this is not the case for all the children forms I created. Some forms behave correctly but others don't. Did I do something wrong? I think the correct behavior is that, everytime I click a form, bring it up to front. Thank you for any suggestion.

  Hi, I'm working on a project for the iPad, I need to read and write to an xml file, which is also used by the counter part of the application in windows. The problem that I have is that I've been looking around but I haven't found a way to modify an element or attribute in an xml, without having to build the whole xml again. I saw this other post, which is basically the same problem that I have, and I also end it up in the same point as the person asking the question, NSXMLParser and TouchXML are read only and do not allowed me to modify my xml. Any other suggestion about what can I use? Thanks!

But my problem is, my page has multiple link_button and blueflip div's all over the page. when i click any one of link_button all of the blueflip div's are toggling.   In order for a school project i need to create the following situation within one mysql query. The situation is as such, that a child's tags and a parent's tags need to be combined into one, and compared to a site's tags, depending on a few extra simple equals to lines. For this to happen I only see the option that the result of a subquery is combined with a sub query within that query, as such: SELECT tag.*, (SELECT group_concat(t1.id, ',', (SELECT group_concat(tag.id) FROM adcampaign INNER JOIN adcampaign_tag ON adcampaign.id = adcampaign_tag.adcampaign_id INNER JOIN tag ON adcampaign_tag.tag_id = tag.id WHERE adcampaign.id = 1)) FROM ad, ad_tag, tag AS t1 WHERE ad.id = ad_tag.ad_id AND ad_tag.tag_id = t1.id AND ad.adcampaign_id = 1 AND ad.agecategory_id = 1 AND ad.adsize_id = 1 AND ad.adtype_id = 1) as tags FROM tag WHERE tag.id IN tags But the IN comparison only returns the first result because now the tags aren't a list but a concanated string. • Why a thread is aborted in ASP.NET MVC (again)?

  Here is what I do in a controller action: create and start a new Thread that does a relatively long processing task (~30 seconds on average, but might be several minutes) immediately return the page response so the user knows processing has started (trivially, a Json with a task ID for polling purposes). At some random point, ThreadAbortException is thrown, so the async task does not complete. The exception is not thrown every time, it just happens randomly roughly 25% of the times. Points to note: I'm not calling Response.End or Response.Redirect - there isn't even a request running when the exception is thrown I tried using ThreadPool and I got the same behavior I know running threads in ASP.NET has several caveats but I don't care right now Any suggestion?

  Hi cloud of wisdom :-) I am facing some trouble trying to configure a particular configuration for a NumericUpDown control in c#. Basically, I have seen that I can set the Increment interval, but I would like to manage the Increment interval depending on which arrow is clicked (up or down). I have checked the events of the control, but I do not find an event for each arrow. Basically, I want to achieve a control where, at different values, the increment is different. from 0.00 to 5.00 increments of 0.01, from 5.00 to 20.00 increments of 0.04, and so on Is this possible ? Note: It would be useful also an historic value in the control for the last value when the valuechanged event is trigger. Does this exist? Thanks in advance for any comment or suggestion!!!

  Currently, I have extracted depth points to construct a 3D model from 2 stereo cameras. The methods I have used are openCV graphCut method and a software from http://sourceforge.net/projects/reconststereo/. However, the generated 3D models are not very accurate, which leads me to question: 1) What is the problem with pixel-based method? 2) Should I change my pixel-based method to feature-based or object-recognition-based method? Is there a best method? 3) Are there any other ways to do such reconstruction? Additionally, the depth extracted comes only from 2 images. What if I am turning the camera 360 degrees to obtain a video? Looking forward to suggestion on how to combine this depth information. Thank you very much :)

So this means we can have 1000's of cameras sending data 24X7 for recording. We will store data for over 7 / 14 / 30 days depending on the package. Per day if a camera is sending data to the server then it will store 1.5GB. So that means there is a traffic of 1.5GB / day / camera Total monthly 45GB / month / camera (Data + bandwidth for one camera) Please let me know the most cost effective way to get this data stored?   I am trying to create horizontal bar chart to look like a pill chart. I would like to take a either a stacked bar chart or a 100% stacked bar chart and put rounded ends onto this chart. I would only be using 1 row within the chart. One idea I had was just putting rounded images on either end of the chart to accomplish this but I'm not sure that this will give the smooth feel of a single pill. Does anyone have a good suggestion? I am not tied to the idea of using a chart object. But I would prefer to stay away from third party components that need to be purchased.

  Okay I got this function who prints the name of all files in a directory recursively problem is that it's very slow and it gets the stuff from a network device and with my current code it has to access the device time after time. What I would want is to first load all the files from the directory recursively and then after that go through all files with the regex to filter out all the files I don't want. Unless anyone got a better suggestion.
