• Inability to detect the Output from inside a SSIS script component

  In the script of the script components the Output buffer is not being detected as an existing component. I am trying to use the following piece of code Output0Buffer.AddRow(); within the public override void Input0_ProcessInputRow(Input0Buffer Row) method. I know it should be available within this method because at the moment I am copying and using a component from a previous project that has this code and it works. but when I create a new component and put the same code in it doesn't Can any one explain why this is happening?

• Java multidimensional array and scanner novice Q

  I'm new to Java and trying to in essence implement a grid with a character, and if the user inputs 'w' 'a' 's' or 'd' the character moves up/down/left/right within the plane. I created a multidimensional array sized 10x10 public static String[][] grid = new String[10][10]; And then just used a for loop to print "*"s in a 10x10 grid, except for grid[a][b] which is equal to character "A" i.e. my thing to be moved around. That seemed to work alright, then I needed to detect the 'wasd' input from the user so I set up a: Scanner in = new Scanner (System.in); while (in.hasNext()) And I had then: String s = in.next(); char ch = s.charAt(0); switch (ch) but I couldn't make this work, and it wasn't because I didn't complete the "switch" statement, I did, I just see it void copying and pasting the entire thing. I'm sure its incredibly easy slight thing I am missing, can you please point it out for me?

• Why does Java return a date in GMT-4.5 when choosing Co-ordinated Universal Time time zone in Window

  We have seen a strange issue on some Windows XP machines involving the "Co-ordinated Universal Time" time zone. Not all Windows XP machines seem to have it, but on those that do, the following simple Java program public class TimeTest { public static void main(String[] args) { System.out.println(java.util.TimeZone.getDefault()); System.out.println(new java.util.Date()); } } on JDK 1.6.0_06 prints: sun.util.calendar.ZoneInfo[id="America/Caracas",offset=-16200000,dstSavings=0,useDaylight=false,transitions=5,lastRule=null] Fri Nov 13 05:34:14 VET 2009 (i.e. 4 and a half hours behind GMT). I should add that I am based in London, and have never been to South America. :-) My questions are: Where does Java get this time zone from? I thought Co-ordinated Universal Time was supposed to be the new name for GMT. Why do some Windows machines have this time zone but not others?

  I am trying to convert the value of the generic type parameter T value into integer after making sure that T is in fact integer: public class Test { void DoSomething<T>(T value) { var type = typeof(T); if (type == typeof(int)) { int x = (int)value; // Error 167 Cannot convert type 'T' to 'int' int y = (int)(object)value; // works though boxing and unboxing } } } Although it works through boxing and unboxing, this is an additional performance overhead and i was wandering if there's a way to do it directly. • Should we avoid to use Object as the input parameter/ output value of a method?

  Take Java syntax as an example, though the question itself is language independent. If the following snippet takes an object MyAbstractEmailTemplate as input argument in the method setTemplate, the class MyGateway will then become tightly-coupled with the object MyAbstractEmailTemplate, which lessens the re-usability of the class MyGateway. A compromise is to use dependency-injection to ease the instantiation of MyAbstractEmailTemplate. This might solve the coupling problem to some extent, but the interface is still rigid, hardly providing enough ?exibility to other developers/ applications. So if we only use primitive data type (or even plain XML in web service) as the input/ output of a method, it seems the coupling problem no longer exists. I want main activity to wait for subactivity but both are just running simultaneously. My question is; are there any performance drawbacks or pitfalls I should watch out for when using the lambda method for this? All the samples in ApiDemos avoid this timing problem by only calling services when triggered by user actions. But what should I do to right use this service after bindService succeeds? How can I wait for ServiceConnection.onServiceConnected being called reliably?

  I have a wxWidgets application that has a wxStyledTextCtrl. But for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to get notified of modification events. I have the following code: void CMainWindow::OnDocumentModified(wxStyledTextEvent & event) { wxString msg; msg << event.GetModificationType(); wxMessageBox(msg); } This gets called for EVT_STC_MODIFIED. When I run the application and press a key, the message box displays 1040 and 8209. When I call SetText the same two messages are displayed. How can I differentiate between user events and programmatically-generated events?

• Visual artifacts on UIView rotation with tiled background image.

  I have an iPad app with a standard UIViewController/UIView setup - all rotations are allowed. The UIView draws some tiled image as background (the tile is 256*256 pixels): - (void)drawRect:(CGRect)rect { [[UIImage imageNamed: @"Background.png"] drawAsPatternInRect: rect]; } When I turn my iPad I can see that during the rotation the image pattern of the original orientation is scaled to fit the new orientation. Then - immediately after the animation is finished - the view redraws its background pattern with the final configuration which is unscaled. The switching from a scaled to an unscaled pattern looks a bit ugly. Is there a way to circumvent (or hide) this strecthing of the background pattern?

• Saving Excel Spreadsheet using Interop C#

It does print the correct value that's in cell B3 to the console. When closing it asks if I want to replace the existing file. I click yes. When I open the spreadsheet in Excel, the value is still in cell B3 despite the cell.ClearContents(). Any thoughts?

• Secure to store an ID in an ASP.NET control ID?

  I'm auto-generating a form in my ASP.NET page. This is already tested and working. I want to know if: If there are any security problems with storing the database ID as part of my controls ID? I can see think of 2 issues: the id will be visible in page source (not really important in this case), and the possibility someone could change the name of the control somehow? This second possibility is more serious. Is this a potential problem and how to void it? If there would be a better preferred way to associate a unique data with any type of control? Is it possible to store a custom item in the viewstate for the control?
