• Sendmail Configuration for Exchange Server

  i need help for sendmail configuration in our linux machine. Here the things: I want to send email to outside by using our exchange server as the mail relay.But when sending the email through the server,it will response "user unknown".To make it worse, it will bounce back all the sent message to my localhost. • How to get Postfix to send/forward/relay to a sub-domain located on another server?

  I have a quick question. How do I setup postfix to send an email to another server (Exchange Server) when sending to an email address that has a sub-domain of our main server. For example, say our main server is mail.example.com and we have a Exchange server setup to receive emails from exchange.example.com. We have the MX records setup in our DNS and it receives correctly if we send from a GMail account. However, when we try to send an email from a @example.com account we get the following error: Host or domain name not found. Name service error for name=exchange.example.com type=A: Host not found I believe Postfix checks for local mailboxes first and if its setup with the domain it delivers to the local account, but in this case the sub-domain accounts are located in another server. Anyone have any thoughts on what I need to do within Postfix so it doesn't look locally for the exchange.example.com mailboxes? I found relay_domains directive within Postfix but that doesn't seem to fix it when I add the sub-domain. Thanks for your help.

  currently we ran into some issues with our mail server setup. im preparing a list of actions that we should enforce and use in order to maintain a proper email solution within our company. we have around 80 exchange users, and send mass emails out almost on a monthly bases to 20,000 + customers each time.. the checklist i currently have: 1) mcafee mxlogic 'cloud' anti-spam functionality for incoming message. 2) antivirus on each computer in company 3) antivirus on exchange and DNS servers 4) setup SPF record 5) setup DKIM 6) setup domainkey 7) setup senderID 8) submit spf to microsoft, yahoo, etc. for 'whitelist' purposes. 9) configure size limits for messages in exchange to safe numbers 10) i have 2 outside IPs for my email server, incase one gets blacklisted, switch to the backup. 11) my internet site rests on a different ip than the mail server 12) all mass emails for company sent through 3rd party company (listtrak.com) 13) setup domain alias, media, enews, and bounce for the 3rd party mass mail software. 14) verify the setup using [email protected] 15) configure group policy and our opendns.org account to prevent unwanted actions and website viewing mass emails: 1) schedule them to send different amounts at different times (1,000 at 10am, 1,000 at 4pm, 1,000 10am next day).. 2) setup user prefences, decide what they want to receive ect. ( there interests) 3) send a more steady flow of email, maybe 100 a week with top new products instead of 20,000k every other month.. if anyone has suggestions or additions/subtractions to this checklist they are greatly appreciated. thank you

• Downloading Emails locally with Thunderbird

  I am using Gmail (web interface) for sometime now, and have well over 20 labels and some thousand mails there archived to different labels in Gmail. Now I want to have a local copy of all my mails and following points are important in the context: The Primary mail access mechanism would continue to be Gmail web for me. I just want a backup of my mail account locally. Ideally the mails should download locally in folders named after Gmail labels (I know this is possible via IMAP but probably not by POP) After all my mails are available locally, I will delete most of them in Gmail to free up space and because I want to archive them. The mails should continue to exist locally and should not be deleted when I delete when from Gmail web interface. I would be syncing my gmail account locally let's say every month. So, the new mails that I have sent/received during this period should come over to my local mailbox in the folders named after Gmail labels. I do understand that Gmail maintains a single copy of email having 2 different labels and such email would get duplicated locally in the 2 folders and I am okay with that. Essentially you can see I just want to archive my mails from the Gmail server to a local backup and then sync (one way from Gmail to locally) new mails at regular intervals. For some points above, POP seems to be the option while IMAP seems for the others. I am really confused and need help in deciding which of POP or IMAP would suit me best. I have currently chosen Thunderbird to be my local email client but would not have a problem switching to Outlook or anything else as long as I get my desired archiving functionality.

• Is there an Outlook or Gmail plugin to manage multiple tasks in an email?

  I often get client emails containing 10 or more tasks written as text in the email. I know Outlook and Gmail let you turn an email into a single task, but this doesn't help too much when there are 10 tasks in that email. Are there any plugins for Outlook or Gmail that let put checkboxes into the email or something so I can check off each item as they are done? Ideally I'd like the checkboxes/to do items to be inside the email itself so I can see my progress by looking at the email, rather than just letting me copy text from the email into some other task list.

  I currently have my client's website hosted in china and the domain is hosted in www.net.cn I've purchased an inmotionhosting plan and i want to move the website there. For having the website working i just need to change the DNS nameservers but i want to keep the email in the client's old server, is this possible? • Postfix not sending email after upgrading to Ubuntu 12.04

  After upgrading a server from Ubuntu 10.04 to 12.04, postfix is no longer sending email through sendgrid.com. I followed this guide about 6 months ago and everything had been working perfectly until the upgrade. Now it doesn't seem to be authenticating with sendgrid. This is the error I get in my syslog when I try to send an email. • Ruby email_veracity_checker getting Recipient OK for invalid emails

  I was testing out email_veracity_checker from rails console and found that when I tested a google apps domain (w/ catchall), yahoo and another company domain, the smtp server always returned 250 recipient ok for invalid emails (wellformed, but bogus). It seems that these servers are always returning OK perhaps to prevent email harvesting. But it does seem to raise the question 'why even validate up-front', is this approach even valid in today's environment? Note: gmail did return 550 email account doesn't exist for invalid. related to How check if an email exist without send in Ruby? Use of email_veracity_checker send-in-ruby-use-of-email-veracity-checker I appreciate your thoughts.

In the local resource file I have the following entry: Name: Label_Email Value:Email For some very strange reason when I load the page in the browser, it generates an HTML label with a value of "Email Address" instead of "Email". This is a serious problem for me because I need to localize the application and not have english word "address". When I replace Value in the local resouce file with "Email " (notice extra space), everything works fine, but this is a hack and I need to understand why my application is behaving this way. • Excel - "send to Mail recipient" creates 2nd copy of EMail in Inbox

  When sending Excel sheets using the menu item "File" - "Sent To" - "Mail recipient (as attachment)" I get additional copies of the email in the Inbox. When I press "send" then I get 2 copies of the email in Outlook - as expected one in the Outbox (which moves into the Sent folder as soon it is sent off) and an additional one in the Inbox. How do I stop the copy message appearing in the Inbox? System: Excel 2000, Outlook 2000, Windows XP. Antivirus is AVG Free 2011. I know this is a very old system, but it is not my PC and there isn't any chance to get it replaced in the near future yet. SOme further details: The copy in the inbox appears at the same time as the normal copy goes into the Outbox (i.e. as soon I press send). It doesn't contain anything in the From field (i.e. there is no sender, just the recipient of the mail). It has a different icon in Outlook to the other emails - the icon is the one for "saved or unsent message". I tried it with a few different spreadsheets and it happens with all of them. It happens with every recipient, and it only happens if sending from within Excel (i.e. using the Send to menu item). I can delete the attachment before sending and it will still create a copy. If I create a new message in Outlook and then add the Excel document as attachment then I don't get the copy of the message in the inbox, it only happens when using the send to item in Excel. It only started doing this recently. Around that time the Antivirus (AVG Free) was upgraded to the latest version (from the previous version - 2010? - to version 2011), but this might not be related. I thought I know Excel really well but have never seen this happening before, and I can't find any setting in Excel or Outlook that is causing this. Any ideas?

On Register Button click and post the model to the server, the Model validates and if that Email is already Registered, it displays the Validation Error Message "User already Exists. Please Login or Register with a different email ID". While we are displaying this validation error message, I am loosing the value of "Confirm Email" field. So that the user has to reenter again and I want to avoid this. Here I don't have confirm_Email field in my Model. Is there something special that has to be done to remain Confirm Email value on the Page even in case of Validation failure? Appreciate your responses. • Flash Without a SWF File?

  Is there any way to embed Flash completely in HTML, without reference to an external SWF file? I ask because I would like to send an HTML file as an email attachment that the recipient will open in a browser and fill out as a form. The last step is that they will copy the result to their clipboard, paste it into a new message, and email it back. I cannot reliably copy to the clipboard with JavaScript because of the security issues, but there are simple Flash apps to add that capability. I know I could just display the response text (which will be Base64 encoded) to the recipient and have them copy/paste, but it would be nice to provide this small convenience to them. Also, so you are aware, the text is often too large to include in an email using mailto. Yes. This needs to be done via email. The users have slow, occasional satellite email access and no other data connection to the interwebs. To make things worse, I cannot make them install anything. It is a difficult situation.

  I want to develop a site that will allow be to publish information to users, and give them and opportunity to subscribe to a mailing list so they can be updated each time I make a change to the site. *Add new information, etc. I also would like for the users to be able to add comments about reviews posted, and give me suggestions...Things that will encourage user interaction I understand that this is possible with php... But I do not know php, and to learn and test it I apparently need a domain to begin with...etc. Is it possible that I use Xhtml/Html to get the same results? -- I know I can use the <a href="mailto:[email protected]"; subject="Email from Site user">Mail</a> but that would also leave my email open to spam...Any suggestions? And I do apologize if this question has been posted before, I did some research and found no such thing. All helpful responses are appreciated.

• My Reverse DNS PTR record seems to be right, but I'm still getting bouncing email

  Hello, I have a service (statusme.com) where I let people know (for example) that their kid's soccer games are cancelled because of bad weather. We send out emails to the people who have registered. I have a second server as a backup, (vps.statusme.com) and I've set up the application to send some of the email through the second server. But I'm getting complaints from various recipient SMTP servers that the email is considered spam. So I did some investigating, and it appears that they think my reverse DNS record isn't correct. But when I look at it via various rDNS websites and instructions I found elsewhere on ServerFault, everything looks correct: jb$ host -t a vps.statusme.com 8.8.8.8 Using domain server: Name: 8.8.8.8 Address: 8.8.8.8#53 Aliases: vps.statusme.com has address 66.84.8.246 jb$ host -t ptr 246.8.84.66.in-addr.arpa 8.8.8.8 Using domain server: Name: 8.8.8.8 Address: 8.8.8.8#53 Aliases: 246.8.84.66.in-addr.arpa domain name pointer vps.statusme.com. However, sometimes unforeseen issues in e-mail delivery systems may cause delays. We will send the e-mail from the “[email protected]” e-mail account. If you use an e-mail filter or a SPAM blocker, we recommend that you add “[email protected]” or the “microsoft.com” domain to your safe senders list. (The safe senders list is also known as a whitelist or an approved senders list.) This will help prevent our e-mail from going into your junk e-mail folder or being automatically deleted. I'm sure that the email is not getting caught in a spam catcher. How long does it normally take to get one of these hotfixes? Am I waiting for some human to approve it, or something? Should I just give up and try to get the file I need some other way? (Update: Replaced "[email protected]" with "(my correct email address)" to resolve Martín Marconcini's ambiguity.)

• What's going on with my server? High load, lots of idle CPU time, low disk utilization

  I run a web site and send a legitimate opt-in, daily email newsletter to subscribers. Both the web hosting and email sending are done by the same machine. I have about 100,000 subscribers who have opted in to my daily email newsletter. My PHP script did a pretty good job sending mail to all of them until fairly recently, but as the list has grown I can't keep up. When I run top, I have very high load--usually at least 6 or 7, sometimes as high as 15--even though I only have two CPUs. However, when I run sar, my CPU is idle an average of about 30% of the time. So, it seems I'm not CPU bound. When I run iostat, it seems as though I'm not disk bound because my %util for each device is very low (no more than 5%). Given that I don't seem to be CPU bound or disk bound, why is top reporting such high load? Additionally, since I don't seem to be CPU bound or disk bound, why is my email sending script not able to keep up? • Trying to send email from nagios

  I'm very new to Nagios. I'm trying to send email alerts. But that doesn't seem to be working. But in my log of nagios I can see this : SERVICE ALERT: Appserver;Tmp directory;CRITICAL;HARD;1; Where host notifications are generated via email, only service alerts are not working. And when I look at sendEmail log I can see this : Sep 14 12:38:39 x.x.x.x. sendEmail[23005]: ERROR => You must specify a 'from' field! Try --help. • Exchange - inbound email only works from some servers

  I am having a problem where inbound mail from outside only works when sent from certain hosts.
