  • Streaming multiple TObjects to a TMemoryStream

    I need to store multiple objects (most of them are TObject/non persistent) to a TMemoryStream, save the stream to disk and load it back. The objects need to be streamed one after each other. Some kind of universal container. I started to make several functions that store stuff to stream - for example function StreamReadString(CONST MemStream: TMemoryStream): string; StreamWriteString(CONST MemStream: TMemoryStream; s: string); However, it seems that I need to rewrite a lot of code. One of the many examples is TStringList.LoadFromStream that will not work so it needs to be rewritten. This is because TStringList needs to be the last object in the stream (it reads from current position to the end of the stream). Anybody knows a library that provide basic functionality like this? I am using Delphi 7 so RTTI won't help too much.

    I have been storing option lists for my Android app in a cloud table. For example, categories like "historical fiction","biography","science fiction", etc. I see the following pros and cons: Pro: I can make changes to the list without sending an app update to Google Play Not normalized - I can use the text in my other data tables instead of a reference ID Con: App needs to take time to download from the web each time (or at least check for changes) English only I believe the "proper" way to do this is the use the XML resource files. But I need to make sure the selection references correctly with my data. That is, my app needs to understand that "Poetry" and "Poesía" are the same thing. Is the correct thing to do: Forget about it since I'll never get to the point where I'm translating my app anyway Use a string-array and use the index (0...x) to know what the selection is Use a 2-dimensional string-array with a reference ID in the first column and the text in the second?

Currently, I have a method that accepts two parameters and each parameter value is stored in first and second hashmap. I have to iterate first hash then second to get values. I think there must be a good way to do it but I don't know :( P.S: there could be some errors in above code as this is just an example to explain my problem. Each iterator is a method in original program and accept one parameter. I couldn't copy past real time functions as they are HUGE !

  • How to programmatically fetch posts matching a search query in WordPress?

    In my plugin code I would like to perform a WP_Query (or similar) which returns all posts matching a given query string, as if the user typed that same string into the WordPress search form. Perhaps I'm just being dense, but I cannot seem to find a way to do so. I would expect to have a special parameter for WP_Query, such as matching, but I see no evidence of one. I'll start going through the WordPress codebase to see how it's done internally, and I'll post the answer here if I find it. I just thought someone might happen to know offhand.

One of the pre-requisite is obviously to color the current tab differently, so the user can know on which tab is currently is.     I have a small string of some data (less than 1kb) that I would like to have user agents pass to other sites when they are sent from my site. In order for the other sites to verify that I was the one that created the string I though of two options. The server pings me back to confirm (like paypal, openid, etc..) I use public/private keys to prove I sent the message (like PGP, DKIM, etc..) I don't want to setup HMAC because that would mean I have to use custom keys for each site which would be a pain. Out of those two choices it seems that #2 would save on bandwidth which makes it seem like a better choice. So how can you setup public/private key cryptography using PHP and are there any downsides?

    I have a database that unfortunately have no real foreign keys (I plan to add this later, but prefer not to do it right now to make migration easier). I have manually written domain objects that map to the database to set up relationships (following this tutorial http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/43025/A-LINQ-Tutorial-Mapping-Tables-to-Objects), and I've finally gotten the code to run properly. However, I've noticed I now have the SELECT N + 1 problem. I use this same "{Binding SiteName}" in all my other colums with no issues, why can't the user control accept the same binding string?

    I have a question regarding the ||= statement in ruby and this is of particular interest to me as I'm using it to write to memcache. What I'm wondering is, does ||= check the receiver first to see if it's set before calling that setter, or is it literally an alias to x = x || y This wouldn't really matter in the case of a normal variable but using something like: CACHE[:some_key] ||= "Some String" could possibly do a memcache write which is more expensive than a simple variable set. I couldn't find anything about ||= in the ruby api oddly enough so I haven't been able to answer this myself. Of course I know that: CACHE[:some_key] = "Some String" if CACHE[:some_key].nil? would achieve this, I'm just looking for the most terse syntax.

    When run through javac on the cmd line Sun JVM 1.6.0_20, this code produces 6 .class files OuterClass.class OuterClass$1.class OuterClass$InnerClass.class OuterClass$InnerClass2.class OuterClass$InnerClass$InnerInnerClass.class OuterClass$PrivateInnerClass.class When run through JDT in eclipse, it produces only 5 classes. OuterClass.class OuterClass$1.class OuterClass$InnerClass.class OuterClass$InnerClass2.class OuterClass$InnerClass$InnerInnerClass.class OuterClass$PrivateInnerClass.class When decompiled, OuterClass$1.class contains nothing.     I'm trying to write a script that searches a directory for files and greps for a pattern. Something similar to the below except the find expression is much more complicated (excludes particular directories and files). #!/bin/bash if [ -d "${!#}" ] then path=${!#} else path="." fi find $path -print0 | xargs -0 grep "$@" Obviously, the above doesn't work because "$@" still contains the path. I've tried variants of building up an argument list by iterating over all the arguments to exclude path such as args=${@%$path} find $path -print0 | xargs -0 grep "$path" or whitespace="[[:space:]]" args="" for i in "${@%$path}" do # handle the NULL case if [ ! "$i" ] then continue # quote any arguments containing white-space elif [[ $i =~ $whitespace ]] then args="$args \"$i\"" else args="$args $i" fi done find $path -print0 | xargs -0 grep --color "$args" but these fail with quoted input. For example, # ./find.sh -i "some quoted string" grep: quoted: No such file or directory grep: string: No such file or directory Note that if $@ doesn't contain the path, the first script does do what I want.

  • android: ListView.setAdapter() is causing IllegalStateException. Not sure how to fix it.

    I'm trying to populate a listview with the contents of various ListAdapters based upon the results of a switch statement nested in an OnItemClickListener. When clicking the item, the application was force closing, so I ran it through the dev tools and android debugger. Eclipse is showing me the in the main thread that the application has suspended due an IllegalStateException. I have a marginal understanding of what the particular exception indicates, but not sure how to fix it, or what in my code is causing it to be thrown.   • How to get MVC action to return 404

    I have an action that takes in a string that is used to retrieve some data. If this string results in no data being returned (maybe because it has been deleted), I want to return a 404 and display an error page. I currently just use return a special view that display a friendly error message specific to this action saying that the item was not found. This works fine, but would ideally like to return a 404 status code so search engines know that this content no longer exists and can remove it from the search results. What is the best way to go about this? Is it as simple as setting Response.StatusCode = 404?

  • MVC Model Binding to a collection where collection does not begin with a 0 index

    I'm trying to perform remote validation on a property of an item within a collection. The validation works OK on the first item of the collection. The http request to the validation method looks like: /Validation/IsImeiAvailable?ImeiGadgets[0].ImeiNumber=123456789012345 However on the 2nd item where the url looks like below, the validation doesn't work /Validation/IsImeiAvailable?ImeiGadgets[1].ImeiNumber=123456789012345 Now I'm pretty sure the reason for this, is that binding wont work on a collection that doesn't begin with a zero index. My validation method has a signature as below: public JsonResult IsImeiAvailable([Bind(Prefix = "ImeiGadgets")] Models.ViewModels.ImeiGadget[] imeiGadget) Because I'm passing an item within a collection I have to bind like this yet what I'm really passing is just a single value. Is there anyway I can deal with this other than just binding it as a plain old query string. Thanks Edit: This is the quick fix to get the Imei variable but I'd rather use the model binding: string imeiNumber = Request.Url.AbsoluteUri.Substring(Request.Url.AbsoluteUri.IndexOf("=")+1);
