• How do I get source file information with dumpbin /symbols when compiling with VS 2005?

  I have a tool which uses the output of dumpbin /symbols to do some dependency analysis with our C/C++ libraries. When we compiled the libs with VS 6.0, the dumpbin COFF SYMBOL TABLE contained entries like 000 00000008 DEBUG notype Filename | .file x:\mydir\mysource.c allowing me to get the relationship between sources and defined/used symbols, which is essential for my tool. When we compile with VS 2005, these entries are missing. When I look at the libs with a hex editor, it seems that there is no filename information at all included in the binary files, so it seems not to be a dumbin problem but is compilation related. So I'm looking for a way to get the Filename entries back into my libraries when compiling with VS 2005.

• android content provider robustness on provider crash

  On android platforms (confirmed on ICS), if a content provider dies while a client is in the middle of a query (i.e. has a open cursor) the framework decides to kill the client processes holding a open cursor. Here is a logcat output when i tried this with a download manager query that sleeps after doing a query. The "sleep" was to reproduce the problem. you can imagine it happening in a regular use case when the provider dies at the right/wrong time. And then do a kill of com.android.media (which hosts the downloadProvider). "Killing com.example (pid 12234) because provider com.android.providers.downloads.DownloadProvider is in dying process android.process.media" I tracked the code for this in ActivityManagerService::removeDyingProviderLocked Is this a policy decision or is the cursor access unsafe after the provider has died? It looks like the client cursor is holding a fd for an ashmem location populated by the CP. Is this the reason the clients are killed instead of throwing an exception like Binders when the server (provider) dies ?

• Can't locate in @inc during CPAN dependency install performed not as root.

  While trying to do: perl -I'/v1/data/site_perl' -MCPAN -e 'install Log::Dispatch'; I continue to get "Can't locate Params/Validate.pm in @INC." When looking at the output, /v1/data/site_perl is NOT in the @INC displayed, even though I used -I. I am not root so I have changed my CPAN config so that: 'makepl_arg' => q[LIB=/v1/data/site_perl INSTALLSITEMAN1DIR=/v1/data/site_perl/man/man1 INSTALLSITEMAN3DIR=/v1/data/site_perl/man/man3 INSTALLMAN1DIR=/v1/data/site_perl/man/man1 INSTALLMAN3DIR=/v1/data/site_perl/man/man3] So even LIB is set. In a basic script I have: use lib '/v1/data/site_perl'; use Params::Validate; With no problems. How do I make the Log::Dispatch use lib /v1/data/site_perl without a force install? What am I missing?

  I have two classes. Class1 and Class2. public class Class1{ ... public virtual IList<Class2> Class2s{get;set;} ... } public class Class2{ ... public virtual IList<Class1> Class1s{get;set;} ... } The view contains <%=Html.ListBox("Class2s", ViewData.Model.Class2s.Select( x => new SelectListItem { Text = x.Name, Value = x.Id.ToString(), Selected = ViewData.Model.Class1.Class2s.Any(y => y.Id == x.Id) }) They have many to many mapping. I have a ListBox in Class1 view which displays Class2. How to map the output of the ListBox back to IList Class2s property of Class1? I am able to display the values in the ListBox but unable to map back the SelectListItem to IList.

  I'm launching an EC2 instance, by invoking ec2-run-instances from simple a bash script, and want to perform further operations on that instance (e.g. associate elastic IP), for which I need the instance id. The command is something like ec2-run-instances ami-dd8ea5a9 -K pk.pem -C cert.pem --region eu-west-1 -t c1.medium -n 1, and its output: RESERVATION r-b6ea58c1 696664755663 default INSTANCE i-945af9e3 ami-dd8ea5b9 pending 0 c1.medium 2010-04-15T10:47:56+0000 eu-west-1a aki-b02a01c4 ari-39c2e94d In this example, i-945af9e3 is the id I'm after. So, I'd need a simple way to parse the id from what the command returns - how would you go about doing it? My AWK is a little rusty... Feel free to use any tool available on a typical Linux box. (If there's a way to get it directly using EC2-API-tools, all the better. But afaik there's no EC2 command to e.g. return the id of the most recently launched instance.)

• How to setup a DotNetNuke Development Environment with Source Control?

  My team is developing a new DotNetNuke web application and would like to know what is recommended to setup a development environment with source control and automated builds? We would like to keep the DNN source code separate from our custom modules and extensions source code. The DotNetNuke Compiled Module template for Visual Studio wants us to store the source code in the DesktopModules directory of the DNN source code and output to the DNN source code bin directory. Is this the recommended structure? I would rather keep the files in different locations, but then it becomes more difficult to run and debug locally as it would require an install of the module for each change. Also, how should an automated build deploy any changes? How have others set this up? Is there a recommended best practice?

  I'm not sure if this can be done without some determining factor....but wanted to see if someone knew of a way to do this. I want to create a shifting scale for numbers. Let's say I have the number 26000. I want the outcome of this algorithm to be 6500; or 25% of the original number. But if I have the number 5000, I want the outcome to be 2500; or 50% of the original number. The percentages don't have to be exact, this is just an example. I just want to have like a sine wave sort of thing. As the input number gets higher, the output number is a lower percentage of the input. Does that make sense?

  My knowledge of commandline bash is missing on a particular area: I constantly forget how to properly escape characters. Today I wanted to echo this string into a file: #!/bin/env bash python -m SimpleHTTPServer echo "#!/bin/env bash\npython -m SimpleHTTPServer" server.sh && chmod +x server.sh -bash: !/bin/env: event not found That's right: Remember to escape ! or bash will think it's a special bash event command. But I can't get the escaping right! \! yields \! in the echoed string, and so does \\!. Furthermore, \n will not translate to a line break. Do you have some general tips that makes it easier for me to understand escaping rules? To be very precise, I'll accept an answer which tells me which characters I should escape on the bash command line? Including how to correctly output newline and exclamation mark in my example.

  Is there a possibility to turn off the automatic enclosing of all written content within <p></p> in CKEditor 3.x? I tried CKEDITOR.config.enterMode = CKEDITOR.ENTER_BR; but this just changes the inline linebreaks to <br /> while leaving the enclosing paragraph. Currently writing "Test" produces this output <p> Test</p> but I want it to be simply Test Is there a configuration property for this or would another inline editor to be better suited for this?

  Hi I'm trying to use the System.Xml.Serialization.XmlSerializer to serialize a dynamically loaded (and compiled class). If I build the class in question into the main assembly, everything works as expected. But if I compile and load the class from an dynamically loaded assembly, the XmlSerializer throws an exception. What am I doing wrong?   I'm trying to import an already existing git repository with multiple branches and tags into gerrit. I'm following the official guide at https://gerrit-review.googlesource.com/Documentation/install-quick.html#_already_existing_project. However, when issuing the push command all the branches and tags, except "master" which I'm currently in, are "prohibited by Gerrit". The output is something like this: user@host:~/my-project$ git push ssh://user@localhost:29418/demo-project *:* [....] * [new branch] master -> master ! • Xcode & passing command line arguments

  I just started working with C & Xcode and I've run into a little difficulty. All I want to do is read a file from the command line and see the output in the terminal. I think my problem lies with the path to the file that I want to read in. I'm using a Mac and the file is on my desktop, so the path should be Users/myName/Desktop/words.txt. Is this correct? • problem showing pictures stored outside web root folder

  On a website users can upload pictures. For security reasons these are stored outside the webroot (public_html) folder. When I need to display the picture, I send the headers and have "readfile" read and output the picture data, like so: header("Pragma: public"); header("Expires: 0"); // set expiration time header("Cache-Control: must-revalidate, post-check=0, pre-check=0"); header('Content-type: image/jpg'); header('Content-Length: ' . $filesize); readfile($path_url . Question: is there a way to send the picture or picture data to the user, without the server first having to load the picture (obviously with the picture still being stored outside the webroot folder)? • Batch file running on Vista problem

  Dear All , I have to generate keys from cWrsync, I have Command: "ssh-keygen -t rsa -q -N '' -f %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\.ssh\id_rsa" I placed that command into a batch file, that is pointing to cwRsync\bin directory, where ssh-keygen exe file is located, That batch file working fine Windows, But in Vista it is throwing unexpected result... the output of batch on Vista is: C:\Program Files\cwRsync\bin>ssh-keygen -t rsa -q -N '' -f C:\ProgramData\.ssh\i d_rsa open C:\\ProgramData\\.ssh\\id_rsa failed: Bad address. Saving the key failed: C:\ProgramData\.ssh\id_rsa. The intersting thing is that if i manually run this command in commandline , it again run successfully,

• Octave: Multiple submatrices from a matrix

  I have a large matrix from which I would like to gather a collection of submatrices. If my matrix is NxN and the submatrix size is MxM, I want to collect I=(N - M + 1)^2 submatrices. In other words I want one MxM submatrix for each element in the original matrix that can be in the top-left corner of such a matrix. Here's the code I have: for y = 1:I for x = 1:I index = (y - 1) * I + x; block_set(index) = big_mat(x:x+M-1, y:y+M-1) endfor endfor The output if a) wrong, and b) implying there is something in the big_mat(x:x+M-1, y:y+M-1) expression that can get me what I want without needing the two for loops. • WinAPI C - RunAsUser from REDMON_USER and REDMON_SESSIONID

  I installed a PostScript printer driver and have setup REDMON (redmonnt.dll) for redirecting postscript output to my program. In my rather simple c program I capture the data from STDIN and I am able to successfully save it into a .ps file. The file looks OK. However, I want to start gsview.exe for viewing the file. If I call ShellExecute it fails in Windows 7 because of permission issues. It seems that my program is called under a different user account (LOCAL SERVICE). So I am looking for a way to run gsview.exe under a specific username (the user who initiated the print job is available to me in a variable as REDMON_USER along with the SESSIONID as well. I am stuck (and my stack is overflowing =) What are the minimum WinAPI call I need to use to launch a program given a username and a sessionid? Any code examples in C/C++, .NET would be very helpful

I just wanted to keep the same format of the original String date and make it into a Date object. I'm using Netbeans 6.8 Mac version.
