• Trouble with a query

  Hi there, I'm having trouble with a query in SQL Server 2008 on some forex trading data. I have a trades table and an orders table. A trade needs to comprise of 2 or more orders. DDL schema and sample data below. What I want to do is write a query that shows the profit/loss in pips for each trade. A pip is 1/1000th of a currency. So the difference between USD 1.3441 and 1.3442 is 1 pip in forex-speak. A trade usually has one entry order and multiple exit orders. So for example if I buy 3 lots of the currency pair GBP/USD at the exchange rate of 1.6100 and then sell 1 lot at 1.6150, 1 lot at 1.6200 and 1 lot at 1.6250 then the profit is (1.6150 - 1.6100) + (1.6200 - 1.6100) + (1.6250 - 1.6100), or 50 + 100 + 150 = 300 pips profit. The trade could also go the other way (Shorting). For example the currency pair can be sold first before it's bought back later at a cheaper price. I would like a query that returns the following: tradeId, currencyPair, profitInPips It seems like a pretty straightforward query, but it's eluding me right now.   A lot of ISP rate limit the amount of e-mails that is sent from a particular IP address. What is the proper way to get around that rate limit? Our company has an iPhone application that sends many e-mails because of our large user base and many e-mails go to different ISPs that rate limit the number of messages coming from a specific IP. We do not send spam and we are a legitimate business. However, is there a better way to resolve this limitation rather than just getting a ton of IP addresses? Ideally, I wouldn't want to rely on a third party service to send mail. However, if its the only possible solution, we would consider.

• DataContext Refresh and PropertyChanging & PropertyChanged Events

  I'm in a situation where I am being informed from an outside source that a particular entity has been altered outside my current datacontext. I'm able to find the entity and call refresh like so MyDataContext.Refresh(RefreshMode.OverwriteCurrentValues, myEntity); and the properties which have been altered on the entity are updated correctly. However neither of the INotifyPropertyChanging INotifyPropertyChanged appear to be raised when the refresh occurs and this leaves my UI displaying incorrect information. I'm aware that Refresh() fails to use the correct property getters and setters on the entity to raise the change notification events, but perhaps there is another way to accomplish the same thing? Am I doing something wrong? Is there a better method than Refresh? If Refresh is the only option, does anyone have a work around?

• How to force a page refresh or reload in jQuery?

  The code below displays a google map and search results when you enter an address and hit the submit button. I've been playing with it to try and force the page to completely refresh or reload once you hit the submit button. But I can't get it to work right. It loads the results "in page," but I'd like the page to completely refresh when the results load, like when you hit the back button on your browser. Hope that makes sense. • How can I script SCCM to change the rate limit percentage?

  I am trying to script SCCM 2007so I don't have to manually go through 400 servers and set the rate limit by hand. I want all of the servers to use 75% of their bandwith 24 hours a day.   If you haven't seen their implementation Of the refresh of a tableview it is extremely slick. I was surprised to see no search results asking for this to be explained so I figured ask it myself. If you haven't seen it, it basically adds a subviews to the uitableview above the header to the blank part of the screen when you pull a uitableview view down farther than it has data to display. Sorry if that doesn't make sense but just download the app and you will immediately want to do it too. Just wondering how they did it?

  I'm implementing a search service called SearchInsideOut. http://bit.ly/97SFyW This search service simply replaces web page results by full web pages (Yes, I used iframe). The problem I have to deal with is iframe-breaking pages. The promising solution I found is using onbeforeunload to let users decide whether to stay or leave my site. But this also creates another annoying behavior. When users click other links in my site, onbeforeunload will also be triggered. Fortunately, I could solve this case by placing window.onbeforeunload=null in the onclick event of those links of my site. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to detect external events like clicking "refresh/back" buttons. What should I do to solve this difficulty? All suggestions and comments are highly appreciated.

  The original date of June 30, 2011 where FASB and IASB would align/converge major areas of accounting has been extended to the end of 2011. They will still meet the June 2011 date for many "urgently required" projects but some projects will not come until the second half of 2011. The reason for this is to allow more time for due diligence, review and consensus. Will this delay the U.S. adoption to IFRS? According to Ms. Schapiro, no, it will not; she is confident that the decision to adopt IFRS in the U.S. will be decided by 2011. I personally hope so because I fear that if the decision is delayed further, it might seep into the 2012 presidential election which could delay the adoption further.   I have an idea for a cross platform application. It will require knowledge of several different languages, web development, and system administration/IT. I don't personally code, but I want to pay professionals to do it. I'm wondering how I should go about paying them. Yes, this will be a large project, but I want it done ASAP. Is it ok if I don't pay them by the hour? I really want it to be a set price. Also, is it reasonable to pay them in stock of the company? Like, 20%? P.S. How do I know how big a project will be in order to give the devs themselves an idea?

• Multiplayer Network Game - Interpolation and Frame Rate

  Consider the following scenario: Let's say, for sake of example and simplicity, that you have an authoritative game server that sends state to its clients every 45ms. The clients are interpolating state with an interpolation delay of 100 ms. Finally, the clients are rendering a new frame every 15ms. When state is updated on the client, the client time is set from the incoming state update. Each time a frame renders, we take the render time (client time - interpolation delay) and identify a previous and target state to interpolate from. To calculate the interpolation amount/factor, we take the difference of the render time and previous state time and divide by the difference of the target state and previous state times: var factor = ((renderTime - previousStateTime) / (targetStateTime - previousStateTime)) Problem: In the example above, we are effectively displaying the same interpolated state for 3 frames before we collected the next server update and a new client (render) time is set. The rendering is mostly smooth, but there is a dash of jaggedness to it. Question: Given the example above, I'd like to think that the interpolation amount/factor should increase with each frame render to smooth out the movement. Should this be considered and, if so, what is the best way to achieve this given the information from above?

• XNA frame rate spikes in full screen mode

  I'm loading a simple texture and rotating it in XNA, and this works. But when I run it in full screen 1920x1080 mode I see spikes while my texture is rotating. If I run it windowed with 1920x1080 resolution, I don't get the spikes. The size of the texture does not seem to matter, I tried 512 texture size and 2048 texture size, same thing happens. Spikes in full screen, no spikes in windowed, resolution does not seem to matter, Debug or Release does not seem to do anything either. Anyone got ideas of what could be the problem? Edit: I think this problem has something to do with the vertical retrace. Set this property: _graphicsDeviceManager.SynchronizeWithVerticalRetrace = false; you'll lose vsync but it will not stutter.

• Is good practice to optimize FPS even when it's above the lower limit to give illusion of movement?

  I started over 50 FPS on the iPhone, but now I'm bellow 30 PFS, I've seen most iPhone games clamped to either 60 or 30 FPS, even when 24 or less would give the illusion of movement. I've concidered my limit to be a little bit over 15 FPS, in fact my physics simulation is updated at that rate (15.84 steps/s) as that is the lowest that still give fluid movement, a bit lower gives jerky motion. Is there a practical reason why to clamp FPS way above the lower limit? Update: The following image could help to clarify I can independently set the physic simulation step, frame rate, and simulation interval update. My concern is why should I clamp any of those to values greater than the minimum? For instance to conserve battery life I could just to choose the lower limits, but it seems that 60 or 30 FPS are the most used values.

• XNA 4.0 Refresh AudioEngine, WaveBank and Others Not Found

  I'm going through the Learning XNA 4.0 book, and unfortunately I installed XNA 4.0 refresh. All the code up until now has worked, with the exception of me needing to remove the Framework.Net and Framework.Storage. (As a side question, will this be problematic later?) The problem I'm having now is that in my Game1.cs file, I have imported all of the XNA.Framework libraries, and when I try and create instances of any of the following classes, an error pops up saying VisualStudio can't find them: AudiEngine, WaveBank, SoundBank, and Cue. I have googled around for a while, and the only solution I saw was to import Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Xact, but this doesn't seem to exist for me. Any help is much appreciated, Thanks Peter.

• Adjusting the rate of movement of different objects on the same timer

  I have a series of objects moving along the straight lines. I want to implement slight changes of velocity of each of the object. Constraint is existing model of animation. I am new to this, and not sure if it is the best way to accommodate varying speeds, but what do I know? It is a Java application that repaints the panel every time the timer expires. Timer is set via swing.Timer object that is set by timer delay constant. Every time the game is stepped objects’ coordinates advanced by an increment constant. Most of the objects are of the same class. Is there fairly easy way to refactor existing system to allow changing velocity for an individual object? Is there some obvious common solution I am not aware about? Idea I am having right now is to set timer delay fairly small, and only move objects every so many cycles of animation so that the apparent speed can be adjusted by varying how often they get moved. But that seems fairly involved, and I do not think it is the most elegant solution in terms of performance what with repainting the whole frame every 3-5 milliseconds. Can it be done by advancing the objects so many (varying) times during the certain interval (let’s say 35ms for something like 28fps), and use repaint() method to redraw just individual object? Do I need to mess with pausing animation for smoothness at higher redraw rates? Is it common practise to check for collision at larger step interval, but draw animation a lot more frequently?

• Minecraft program frame rate is very slow

  I have recently downloaded Minecraft to Ubuntu 12.04. It launches and plays successfully, however- the frame rates for the game are extremely slow. They never go past 9 fps and usually drop below 3 fps. I have been a Windows XP user for years and have just recently switched to Ubuntu, so I'm not an expert with this OS. My video card is a Diamond Stealth s60 with Radeon 7000. I don't know what other information you guys need but if you ask for it, and would please tell me how to get to it, I will tell you as soon as I can. Thanks for your help.
