  i start learning jquery few days ago, and i like it very much. but now i have a problem, that can't solve alone. i have two selects <select id="select1"> <option value="1">1day</option> <option value="2">2day</option> <option value="3">3day</option> </select> <select id="select2"> <option value="1">1day</option> <option value="2">2day</option> <option value="3">3day</option> </select> i need to set #select2 the same value with #select1, when #select1 changes i've red some questions about select tag here, but i need to set "selected" attribute to that option, which have the same value. how can i do it? • Split Entire Hash Range Into n Equal Ranges

  Hello. I am looking to take a hash range (md5 or sha1) and split it into n equal ranges. For example, if n=5, the entire hash range would be split by 5 so that there would be a uniform distribution of key ranges. I would like n=1 to be from the beginning of the hash range to 1/5, 2 from 1/2 to 2/5, etc all the way to the end. I am new to hashing and a little bit unsure of where I could start on solving this for a project. Any help you could give would be great.

• Get the selected file in an Explorer window

  I'd like to know how, if possible, to get the path of the selected file in an open Windows Explorer window. If not, would it at least be possible to get the folder path of an open Windows Explorer window? The end reason I'm doing this, is a software tool I'm writing requires a user to select a file. I figure if they're already moving the file around with Windows Explorer and then start my tool up, it'd be good not to have to make them navigate to the folder again in the file open dialog box. My software would then be able to identify if it's got the right file extension and if so, just ask the user if they want to import that file. Thanks.

• How to publish to Facebook fan/business pages (not user profiles)

  I'm trying to figure out if fan/business pages are conceptually similar to regular user pages. My end goal is to publish events from a third-party Web site (new content, announcements, etc.) into the FB page that promotes the third-party site. I'm not sure where to start exactly. Been looking at the .NET Facebook SDK, and it seems focused on FB apps and authentication. Not sure where I should be looking. Help is appreciated!

• Keeping a window always on top -- including menus (win32)

  I would like to have a layered window that is always-on-top, which I can accomplish, but there are certain screen elements that still get drawn over it, such as menus (including the start menu). Is there any way to make a window or child window of my application have a high enough top-ness property that it will draw over another application's menus? Or is there something built in to windows that ensures that menus in the currently active application are always drawn on top? In fact, I don't really understand all that well how menus work. So it might not even make any sense for me to try to make my window "act like a menu" in hopes of making it cover more things.

  Hi, I have been working in Java for the past 4 years and I am currently switching over to Ruby. I am so excited about it and I feel good to finally get a hands on experience on a scripting language first time. The task assigned to me is to first pick a OS of my choice and setup a Ruby in it and study for 2 weeks. I have been developing applications in windows and Linux is not my cup of tea. Some part of me wants to try out Linux but I want to first convince myself whether OS really matters for Ruby development. If Linux does matter, which distribution can I start looking at? • Trying to re-create UI object from the native iPhone Calendar Notes

  Probably a lame question for a start but i'm trying to re-create the ui object that's used in Apple's native Calendar to create notes. It's the basic text-field but with multiple lines. Sort of a text-area. Now i know that anything from the calendar in terms of ui objects isn't available but i have seen this in quite few apps so i'm guessing it's some sort of standard component.   So here is my code: <?php $arr = array(array(2 => 5), array(3 => 4), array(7 => 10)); foreach ($arr as $v) { $k = key($v); if ($k > 5) { // unset this element from $arr array } } print_r($arr); // now I would like to get the array without array(7 => 10) member As you can see, I start with an array of sinwgle key = value arrays, I loop thorugh this array and get a key of the current element (which is a single item array). I need to unset elements of the array with key higher than 5, how could I do that? I might also need to remove elements with value less than 50 or any other condition. Basically I need to be able to get a key of the current array item which is itself an array with a single item.

• QT4: How to restart application? Reset settings?

  Hi. 1.) I would like to restart my QT4 application. Just a normal shutdown and start of the same application. 2.) Why? Well i need an Option to "reset" everything. To restart the application seems to be the easiest way to do this. The problem is, that there are a LOT of classes and everything. I dont have the time to put every setting of them back to standard, every textBox, Widget to clear... I Know application restart is not the best way, what do you think is there another way?   I've written a launcher program that fires off a given number of executables, with the following code: Process.Start(strPath2EXE); The problem I'm running into is it seems I'm being limited to launching only about four copies of the executable. Is there a different way I can launch the executables without this limit? I'm hoping to run 10+ concurrently.   Hi, I'm working on a quite big magento: it will have 50 different shops (1 magento install, 1 admin to rule them all) for start, this number is expected to raise in the future, and a catalog of more than 1k products. This catalog will be shared by all shops. I'm concerned about the server requirements I need for this to run smoothly. So far this is what I've found to get the most of it: Caching: using magento's cache with APC, MySQL's querys Images sprite in the theme use FastCGI instead of mod_php database clustering: I don't think it will be necesary for 1k products, what do you think? using Zend Server Are there other thing I can do in order to improve magento's performance? • Entity Framework with SQL Server 2000 (APPLY Operator) issue

  Hello, I have a simple Linq query below: var seq = (from n in GetObjects() select n.SomeKey) .Distinct() .Count(); This query works find with SQL Server 2005 and above. But, this start to give headache when I hooked the EF to SQL Server 2000. Because EF is using APPLY operator which only SQL Server 2005 and above can be supported. I do not know why the hell EF is using APPLy operator instead of sub queries. My current work around is: var seq = (from n in GetObjects() select n.SomeKey) .Distinct() .ToList() .Count(); But, I can forsee more problems to come. The above query is just a simple one. Did anyone come across such issue? And how you guys work around it? Or is there a way to force EF not to use APPLY operator? Any help will be very much appreciated. How Lun.

• Robust way to display an image with one fixed dimension

  Lets say that we have an image uploaded by the user, the upload script limits the mb but not the image size (so could be any proportion, 600X200,200X350, and so...). Im already showing this image in one part on my site using the twitter bootstrap image handler written on css, thats good for a profile picture, the problem is that now I want that image to be a cover (like facebook/twitter cover image), my site is responsive so the width of the cover is 900px or 100% if the screen resolution is less than 900px wide. The height is always fixed to 200px. So I know there is a way to control the correct image display using CSS (maybe with jquery too) but Im not a front-end dev, Im a php dev and I dont want to use server side scripts for doing this. So im looking for suggestions or pieces of codes (css, javascript) to start with, I belive that it have to be an already made solution for this, but I dont find any on google. Thanks for any advice!

  Hello, I found the discussion on Do you test private method informative. I have decided, that in some classes, I want to have protected methods, but test them. Some of these methods are static and short. Because most of the public methods make use of them, I will probably be able to safely remove the tests later. But for starting with a TDD approach and avoid debugging, I really want to test them. I thought of the following: Method Object as adviced in an answer seems to be overkill for this. Start with public methods and when code coverage is given by higher level tests, turn them protected and remove the tests. Inherit a class with a testable interface making protected methods public Which is best practice? Is there anything else? It seems, that JUnit automatically changes protected methods to be public, but I did not have a deeper look at it. PHP does not allow this via reflection.

  After seeing several threads rubbishing the regexp method of finding a term to match within an HTML document, I've used the Simple HTML DOM PHP parser (http://simplehtmldom.sourceforge.net/) to get the bits of text I'm after, but I want to know if my code is optimal. It feels like I'm looping too many times. • How do i force a file to be deleted? Windows server 2008

  On my site a user may upload a file (pic, zip, audio, video, whatever). He then may decide to replace it with a newer revision. This user may upload a file, make a post then decide to put up a new revision replacing the old (lets say its a large zip or tar.gz file). Theres a good chance people may be downloading it if he sent out an email or even im for the home user. Problem. I need to replace the file and people may be downloading and it may be some minutes before it is deleted. I dont want my code to stall until i cant delete or check every second to see if its unused (especially bad if another user can start and he takes long creating a cycle). How do i delete the file while users are downloading the file? i dont care if they stop i just care that the file can be replaced and new downloads are the new revision.

• Possibility of initiating playback of flash video on headless server through the terminal

  Hey so I have a website which has video's gathered from places around the web, primarily youtube but a few other's as well. Now I am wondering if there is some way to check link's to make sure they are still available through a unix shell. (My idea is to run a cron to check videos are still available and if not delete them.) I am aware i could use user to do this but it always bothered me and was wondering if there is somehow to check the playback of a flash video though the terminal . Any insight into this would be awesome as I haven't found much on the web. Also note ideally the tech. will work on all video type's including html5. update So it's occured to me that through the you tube api, I could check the status of the video's coming from youtube (which is a start). But I would love to know if there's something else that is not player specific but rather just calls the video to play similar to how a user would.

I read of C++0x is gonna come out 2011 so its called C++11. When C++11 comes out, we will still be developing the software of the project.   I'm trying to create a custom tag. Inside this custom tag, I want to be able to have some logic that checks if the user is logged in, and then have the tag rendered accordingly. This is what I have: def user_actions(context): request = template.Variable('request').resolve(context) return { 'auth': request['user'].is_athenticated() } register.inclusion_tag('layout_elements/user_actions.html', takes_context=True)(user_actions) When I run this, I get this error: Caught VariableDoesNotExist while rendering: Failed lookup for key [request] in u'[{}]' The view that renders this ends like this: return render_to_response('start/home.html', {}, context_instance=RequestContext(request)) Why doesn't the tag get a RequestContext object instead of the Context object? How can I get the tag to receive the RequestContext instead of the Context? EDIT: Whether or not it's possible to get a RequestContext inside a custom tag, I'd still be interested to know the "correct" or best way to determine a user's authentication state from within the custom tag. If that's not possible, then perhaps that kind of logic belongs elsewhere? Where?

• Getting back into C/C++ after several years

  While at university I started my first programming with ANSI C, before we moved onto Java later in the course. Now I would like to go back to (re)learning C and C++ again to allow me to contribute with open source projects and also to expand my CV and improve my career prospects. Currently I mostly program in VB.net (I know I know, I try to not do things the nasty way you can with this) and am slowly picking up C# as I get some time at work. I also use a bit of java for Android dev. While I realise just doing it is the best way to learn, my exercise ideas are usually either trivial or beyond my current skills. What are some good sources for this initial relearn, I intend to possibly start helping with Chromium as other people seem to think this a good place to get started in OS. Basically any help getting back into this would be appreciated.

  I try to grok that: Apple is talking about "packets" in audio files, and there is a fancy function called AudioFileReadPackets which takes a lot of arguments. One of them specifies the "start packet", and another one the number of packets which you want to read. So I imagine an audio file to look like this, internally: It's made up of a lot of packets. If it's an audio file which has an variable bit rate format, then every packet may have a different size. If the file has an constant bit rate format, then every packet is the same size. So an audio file is like a truck full of boxes, and every box contains some interesting stuff. Is that correct? Does it apply to any kind of file? Is this how files actually look like?
