• 6TO4 Windows 2003 DNS

  This is puzzling me a bit. We are running server 2003 DNS/DHCP and normally we disable IPV6 on the client end. But I have just noticed with windows 7 and server 2008 R2 if I disable IPv6 then it registers an 6TO4 address in DNS not its Standard IP address. If I enable IPv6 it registers its ip. Can anyone explain why this is? Regards Adam

• No mysql password under linux?

  I was told that mysql user, similar to root user, by default "has no password". Not an empty password, but rather "no password". I wasn't aware this situation was possible - I thought every user on a linux had to have a password. Am I wrong? Can you point me to a link that explain this?

• How do I change the default for the "df" command in the Unix terminal from KILOBYTES TO MEGABYTES?

  I can't really show the code in Unix, but I can explain it very clearly. In the terminal, when you type "df", you get information on the disk free space all in KILOBYTE units. KILOBYTES is currently set as the default in Unix. My problem is trying to change the default from KILOBYTES to MEGABYTES. After changing of the default, I should be able to type in "df" and all the disk free space should come up in MEGABYTES.

  I tried something on my vm ubuntu and managed to mess it up... luckily I made a snapshot not too long a go. I renamed a file to ,,, and tried to mv ,,, *. The entire dir's content of the dir disappeared. Can someone please explain to me what happened? Thank you.

  Can somebody help me in installing bugzilla (list out exact steps if possible) on Windows Server 2008 with IIS 7.0 , Mysql 5.1 & existing email server(already configured)? I followed installation steps from many posts & also your site , everything goes right but when I start to creating accounts by sending email in bugzilla web panel, I get error:- “There was an error sending mail from 'bugzilla-daemon@' to '[email protected]':Can't call method "address" on an undefined value at C:/Program Files (x86)/Bugzilla/perl/perl/site/lib/Email/Send/SMTP.pm line 25.” I also tried installing through Windows installer, but same issues. • Hiding some users in the user list of the OSX 10.6 login panel

  Is there a way to show only some users in the login panel? I'm using OSX 10.6, and if I recall correctly I did something like that in a distant past but I really can't find out how. In the system preferences there seem to be nothing like that (neither in Accounts nor in Security, for instance), and Tinkertool does not do that. Google didn't help. edit: I hoped there was a graphical solution, such as while hiding them from the first screen, having also a button like "show all". I guess there isn't or somebody would have answered. Maybe I'll just change the usernames adding leading Z at the start of the usernames of the ones to "hide", so they'll appear lower in the list... :/

• How to connect to WPA2 encrypted wireless-network when booted from CloneZilla Live-CD?

  My intention is to perform a backup of my laptop's (Dell Vostro 3350) sda1 disk to my desktop. After some googling I decided to use CloneZilla for that purpose. I have an OpenSSH server installed and running on my desktop. So I inserted CloneZilla CD to CD-rom, booted from it, then chose an option smth like "use ssh server to store image". Then I got an invitation to choose a network interface. I chose wlan0 and entered shell to manualy configure connection. And that's where I got into trouble, for wifi-network which I wanted to use is WPA2-encrypted, and I don't know how to connect to it from command line. Can somebody assist me. Appreciation for advance.

• Cannot access Azure Portal: We were unable to find any subscriptions associated with your account

  I am trying to get access to my Windows Azure Portal. Although I can access my user profile which shows two active subscriptions, I cannot access the portal (https://manage.windowsazure.com/). I get redirected to this site: https://manage.windowsazure.com/Error/NoSubscriptions, saying We were unable to find any subscriptions associated with your account. Now, this is a clear issue for the Azure support, but unfortunately, as azure thinks I don't have any subscriptions, I cannot get support, either, because I get redirected to the same error page. I've spent two hours talking and chatting with incompetent support people, i.e.: I've submitted feedback on the azure site but have no idea whether I will ever get a response. Maybe somebody has had this issue before, or can hint me which way to go?

  Howdie Scenario: Allow developers to submit new application packages to a market server. Developers run a bash script which contains a cURL call to market server (localhost/market/submit/$app-name). The submit script on the server creates a new folder in existing svn server with the name of the submitted app. Script on dev side waits for HTTP to issue a success message and then do a svn checkout in dev local machine. Problem: The submit script on the market server failed to create new svn directory through code: echo `svnadmin mkdir -m 'added new package $package' http://localhost/market/packages/$package`; this does not echo nothing and when I go on http://localhost/market/packages, the folder has not been added and the revision number has not been incremented. I've tried from a terminal in market server chown root:www-data /usr/bin/svnadmin but still no luck. Somebody has come acrosss similar problem? Any solutions? Thanks!   If you're a Firefox user you know that if you have 10 tabs open and say you're in the tab #5. If you open a new tab which will become #11 in order and search something, after you finish and close this #11 tab Firefox will direct you the the last active tab you were in which is #5. Using Vimperator You won't get the similar effect. In the same scenario, while you're in tab #5 you can go t and search for something which will lead to opening a tab at #11. Now you press d and where you are now ? #10 and you need to ctrl+p all the way back to #5. So in this case I am looking for one of these solutions. to be able to open a tab straight after the current tab (which closing it will capital D will put me back to my active tab) a way to close a tab and being brought back to the last active tab that I worked on. Will appreciate it if somebody got a solution for this. thanks

  I will soon be running an internet-based public service which will physically be hosted in the UK on a virtual server. The virtual server is provided by the ISP. I was wondering if there is/are any legal requirement(s) to keep access logs, and if yes - for how long? There is a Wikipedia article that touches this subject but I'm afraid my brain just can't grasp the legislative gibberish. I believe there's EU law and there's UK law; and I do need to comply to both, right? Can somebody explain this in pure layman's terms?

Does it keep doing it's job, or does it get suspended, and stopped at the point where it was. Can someone please explain. • Blacklisting: IP's or domains?

  I am implementing a blacklisting system on my website that monitors contact forms for suspicious usage (both spam content and excessive frequency). When I find somebody / robot that meets my criteria for blacklisting, I want to send them to my DB as a blacklisted entity. My question is, should I blacklist them as an IP or as a domain? As far as I can see, blacklisting an IP is going to be far more effective, because I allow people to enter their email address in the form, and they can easily just change their domain on a regular basis. However, the downside is that if I blacklist an IP, I could potentially be blacklisting a large group of people who share an IP, when only one person is bad (ie - college campuses, coffee shops, etc). Is there a solution I'm missing?
