  • Permissions changed after Mail.app and associated data crash

    Hi there, I experienced a major Mail.app crash on Snow Leopard couple of days ago. It took me hours to be able to make the folder structure usable again by Mail. I changed permissions back to 755 for all subfolders starting from and including ~/Library/Mail Mail now works again but settings such as folder order in the left side bar and mail ordered by date in some folders don't persist anymore. Any idea? Thxs for help

  • How do I run multiple instances of Microsoft Outlook 2010, each with a specific profile?

    I have 2 mail profiles - one profile has a single Exchange 2010 account and the other has a single IMAP account. I want to open an instance of Outlook for each. I execute outlook.exe /profile MyExchangeProfile for the Exchange profile and outlook.exe /profile MyIMAPProfile for the IMAP profile and the result is that I get 2 instances of Outlook each with the MyExchangeProfile. In fact, whichever profile I load first is always the one that gets loaded no matter what profile I specify on separate executions.

    Like the Topic says: Our Exchange Server accidentally forwards sent mails from one User to another User's Inbox. The sent mails are mostly to Outbound Adresses and they where successfully delivered but all those sent Mails are accidentally forwarded into our Info Mail account. There are no Outlook rules defined and the forward routing in exchange is not used, for such things. I really don´t know the cause of the problem and i don´t know where I have to look, because I´m new to exchange...

  • Sent items folder in a shared mailbox - Outlook 2003/2007

    I have permission to attached a mailbox to my profile. This is a mailbox I share and manage with other people. When we send from this address, we would like to have the message show up in this mailbox's sent items folder. The current behavior is that the message goes to our primary account's sent items. I'm using Outlook 2007 but others are using Outlook 2003. This is in an Exchange 2007 environment.

  • Pasting images into gmail from clipboard, shows fine when sent, but arrives as text

    I have had consistent problems with pasting images into Gmail. I use Firefox (just in case that is relevant, but I wouldn't expect so). The image displays fine as I write it. But when it arrives at my family members Gmail account, it is being displayed in some base64 encoded form as many pages of text with a beginning like: img src="data:image/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAA..... On the receiving end I cannot get the images to display properly.

    I wrote a tool that sends automated mails to a couple of addresses. This worked for a couple of weeks. Now since yesterday I get Mailer-Daemon responses like this Hi. This is the qmail-send program at test.test2.net. I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses. This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out. testuser@domain.com: Connected to 123.456.789.10 but greeting failed. Remote host said: 554 foo.bar.com I'm not going to try again; this message has been in the queue too long. Does someone have an idea what I can do now?

  • Save open emails when exiting Outlook 2007?

    I use open emails as my todo list in Outlook 2007. For instance, when I look at my Inbox in the morning, I open all emails which I need to respond to, and throughout the day read, respond to and close each one. It's an odd system but it's how I manage my emails. Are there any addons available which will save open emails and reopen them if Outlook is restarted? I'm looking for behavior like Firefox's tabs, which will reopen each one if the process gets killed.

    In Chrome, when I click on a mailto: link, I'd like to be taken to my Gmail's Compose window. So I downloaded ChromeMailer and it works relatively well. However, after using Outlook 2010, the default for the mailto reverts to Outlook. I went into Outlook's Options, clicked Default Programs... and was greeted with this: As you can see, the checkbox is grayed out and I can't do anything to changed it. Clicking Select All checkbox does nothing either. How do I stop Outlook from stealing the mailto protocol handler?

  • Rewriting to address on postfix local aliases

    I was running into the common problem that mail for "root" on my system was having $mydomain appended, and because $mydomain is not in $mydestination, the mail was being sent to our central mail server as "root@domain." I cannot add $mydomain to $mydestination, because if I understand it correctly, that would mean all mail addressed to $mydomain would be looked up locally, and if an alias does not exist, delivery would fail. So, I followed these instructions: Delivering some, but not all accounts locally which seems to have resolved the problem. Mail for "root" is now expanded according to /etc/aliases and delivered to the non-local address I desire. The one oddity however is that the "To:" address still reads "root@domain." Is there any way I can get the "To" address to be the one that the alias directed its delivery? So for example, if my alias says that mail for "root" should go to "hostname-admin@domain" is there any way the "To" address can be rewritten as "hostname-admin@domain?" Currently it still shows as "root@domain."

  • Undeliverable messages to newly migrated Exchange user

    We are in the process of migrating from our old domain to a new one, part of which involves migrating mailboxes from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007. A bunch of users have been migrated already without problems. However, one of the users is having trouble receiving emails from others. When someone sends to him, they get an Undeliverable NDR that says "A configuration error in the e-mail system caused the message to bounce between two servers or to be forwarded between two recipients." The message shows the user's distinguished name as /OU=OurDomain/CN=Recipients/CN=USER57137172. The user's account name should just be "USER", so I don't know where the extra numbers ("57137172") are coming from. Thanks in advance.

  • Lotus Notes "Format painter" or Quick access to fonts.

    I got Lotus Notes 7.0.3 at my job and I miss the "format painter" to copy the style in my mails. Does it exist? If not, the biggest problems I got are when I paste text form another program. The style is imported and I don't like that. I got to search for the "Default sans serif" font (witch is somewhere in the middle of the font list, another annoying thing). Basically, I use "Default sans serif" for text and "Default Monospace" for code. Is there a way to put them at the top of the font list of to get a quick access to them, or maybe in a toolbar or something?

Please check error log.'; } ?> I get the Mail sent message but don't receive a message in my inbox. Not even in the spam folder. Especially I want mail sent to `abc-123-def-geh@localhost' to redirect to 'user@localhost'. Is there a way using the pre-installed stuff or do I need some other software?   • Postfix to deliver mail to a virtual address mailbox

    Postfix version 2.6.6, Dovecot Version 2.0.9 I want to setup Postfix + Dovecot. Dovecot seems to be working. I can authenticate. However, the mailbox is empty! Nothing will get delivered! I followed many tutorials on Postfix + Dovecot but they seem to want to complicate things by using Dovecot LDA or MySQL. I just want it to be very simple and having Postfix deliver to the virtual mail boxes are fine. I don't need MySQL either. I already set up a custom password file that Dovecot uses for authentication and I can login to POP3 with SSL. I can see from the logs that Postfix is delivering to the system user accounts (the catch-all), instead of the virtual users that I set up in Dovecot. The SMTP + SSL authentication seems to work also. I can also see from the logs that Dovecot is checking the correct virtual mail folder. I just need to figure out how to get Postfix to deliver to the virtual mail boxes. I have the following which I believe are relevant.     I use Outlook 2013 and an IMAP account for my mails. I have configured several filters (rules) directly in the webmail application of my provider in order to deliver certain mails, e.g., from my boss, into certain folders other then the "inbox". Note that I did not define any rules in Outlook itself and I also do not want to do so (because I want these mails being delivered into the folders not only in Outlook but also on other devices). The problem is that that I receive desktop notifications only for incoming mails in the main folder ("Inbox") but not for mails in any of the other folders.

And Contains messages that match any of the following conditions: Message is Unread Message is not in Mailbox News (AT) lovejungle.com Message is not in Mailbox Info (AT) lovejungle.com For some reasons, it is still displaying messages in either News@ or Info@.   • does it still have any sense to directly drop mails that trigger RBLs?

    Once upon a time, using RBLs to drop mails was actually a good idea. These days seems it is no more possible for a reason or the other, so every one switched / is_switching to just use RBLs as another test in score based antispam solutions (read: SpamAssassin & friends). This gives good results, but neglects one of the benefits of RBLs, namely the ability to reject (supposed) spam before even receiving the message body. Is still there any RBL that makes sense to use that way, to hardly reject anything that fires a match in that list? If there are people doing it that way, do you ever get false positives due to the list?

  • Best way to convert from IMAP to POP3?

    At work, I connect to a corporate Exchange server via IMAP and Thunderbird 3. Over the course of a year or so, I've created quite a few folders on the server and have a lot of mail stored there. I'm hitting the storage limit of my mail account and want to convert to pulling mail down to my local box (running Linux) via POP3. I know that polling mail will only get mail in INBOX, but I'm wondering if there are solutions out there that could be used to pull mail from the other folders as well, or am I doomed to moving mail into the inbox manually and polling over and over again?

  • Adding MX records to DNS

    Let's say I have a computer A which is running postfix, computer B is running tinydns. On domain project.domain.com I'm running httpd server and other server with DNS (tinydns) have entries like =project.domain.com:1.2.3.4:86400 and +project.domain.com:1.2.3.4:86400 where 1.2.3.4 is correct addres for server which runs httpd server. I also have a postfix mail server on 1.2.3.5 which I'd like to work with this domain (project.domain.com). I'm afraid that if I add another alias like +project.domain.com:1.2.3.5:86400 to tinydns configuration - it could break. How that entry should look like? Thank you for any hints.
