  • Utility for scanning stacks of double-sided documents

    I have a simplex scanner with document feeder, and am looking for the best way to scan double-sided notes. It would be useful to be able to scan the same stack twice, once flipped, and have a utility automatically interleave the scanned images. Multi-page PDF export would also be nice. Is there a tool to do this? Otherwise, I'm considering writing it in Python, with the imagescanner module, if it can use the ADF -- http://pypi.python.org/pypi/imagescanner/0.9 Thanks

  • Cannot copy non-latin characters from PDF document

    Hi, I have a pdf file which contains some non-latin european characters. If I copy some text with the highlight tool, and paste it into another program (word, notepad) - the 'special' characters do not transfer correctly (I get other odd characters in their place). I have tried copying the text from both Acrobat Reader and Foxit. Is there anything I can do here to copy this? Thanks

  • "macros have been disabled" message in Word 2007 but no macros

    Hi there, I open a .doc file in Word 2007 (sorry I am unable to supply the .doc) which pops up with a message above the document "Security warning: Macros have been disabled" but there are no macros shown in the macros listing and no functionality displayed in the VBScript editor. Why does Word think this document contains macros and how can I remove them to prevent the warning? Thanks, Tom

    Unfortunately I did upgrade PHP to version 5.3, but it end up breaking up some web apps, now I'm trying to go back to 5.2. I removed both sources php53.dotdeb.org from /etc/apt/sources.list and I did apt-get update && apt-get upgrade, but it didn't downgrade anything. Any ideas on how to go back will be appreciated Thanks

    My notebook's(Compaq Presario V5000) graphic card damaged last week and after that it will be restarted when I want to boot. So I tested it via windows live, and it booted from CD without any problem (as you know in win live, the graphic card doesn't recognize, and in setting of graphic card write : unknown ) Now my question : Is there anyway to install windows without any graphic driver please ?for example, Should I delete some installation files ?! PS : I tested Windows XP , VISTA and 7 but, when it goes to GUI installation restarted again :( Thanks for your help

    Hi, I was just wondering, is using a cron job that is group readable a security risk? In this case, the script is chmod 755, and the group is basically a group of the sysadmins on the machine. The permissions seem to be fine, but I'm just wondering whether it's a bad idea to keep this script in a group or world readable place because it's a backup script that needs to be run as root. Is it possible to prevent modification (here: pausing) of a task through requiring the entering of the admin password to modify, EVEN THOUGH the currently-logged-in (and only) user is the admin account itself?     Referring to the screenshot below: I want to be able to reference the figure in the body of the text properly without having to change them manually every time I add a figure label before that body of text. However, I don't know how to do it aside from adding caption labels, which won't work for cases where I have more than one reference to the figure (at least I don't know how to do that properly anyway).
