  • Can't get iPhone to Sync with MacBook running OS X.

    I can't get the iPhone to sync with my MacBook running OS X, I've re-installed OS X and iTunes and then it worked, however once the MacBook had been switched off and on again the iPhone wouldn't sync. I then deleted AppleMobileDevice.kext, DeviceLink.Framework, MobileDevice.Framework and AppleMobileDeviceSupport.pky and re-installed iTunes, this then solved the problem until the MacBook was turned off and then on again.     I am looking for the best way to keep a VGA cable plugged into a laptop for an extended period of time. The laptop doesn't have the female end threads like you may see on a video card. Between the VGA port location and my hand size, I knock the cable out often. I am working on getting a docking station, but not sure when it would be ordered (work-related). I found an adapter, but not sure if it will work. Thanks

    We are using Win 2008 R2 and connecting to it from Win7 boxes. The RDP is faster then before but we want to know if their are any other solutions that will make it faster. Due to licensing issue we got a software that multiple people need to access (not all at the same time) and the only way i can find is to install on a server and give RDP access to users.     Hi, I setup a cron for taking backup of my SVN repo( 8 GB) to another server. But some times I get errors and I feel that this is not the proper way to back an svn to a remote server. I used the command rsync -avz myrepo. Please suggest me a good way to do svn backup to a remote server. I cannot zip the files and transfer it daily since it's 7 GB. Thanks

I was looking at an answer to a different question, and Ben Richards had made mention that laptops that support digitizer (possibly wrong terminology) technology is superior.     I type echo $PATH on the command line and get /opt/local/bin:/opt/local/sbin:/Users/andrew/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/mysql/bin:/usr/local/pear/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/X11/bin:/opt/local/bin:/usr/local/git/bin I'm wondering where this is getting set since my .bash_login file is empty. I'm particularly concerned that, after installing MacPorts, it installed a bunch of junk in /opt. I don't think that directory even exists in a normal Mac OS X install.   • Import a bunch of certificates into the correct certificate store using a script

    I have a collection of certificates in a p7b file, and I would like to automatically import each certificate into the correct store depending on the certificate template. What is the best way to do this with a script? I tried using certutil -addstore root Certificate.p7b, and that will correctly place all of the root CAs into the root store, but it returns an error if it encounters any other type of certificate. I'm willing to use batch scripts, vbscript or powershell to accomplish this task. Thanks!

    When I plug in my Windows mobile it appears in My Computer as a portable device but the data I need regular access to is many sub directories in. Is it possible to create a shortcut or access a path on a mobile device directly? When I open the properties of the folder I want it says the location starts with "Computer\Name of Phone\Phone\". The problem is using that as a path to navigate straight to the files doesn't work. Thanks for your help.

    I have an unfortunate problem: my old Win Xp installation has died, probably due to the hard drive failing. The drive now fails all SMART tests, but I can get files off it OK. I have now installed Windows 7 on a new drive, and want to transfer files from the old drive. However, some sensitive files were in an encrypted folder (I think EFS?). How can I un-encrypt them, given that I have essentially my entire old XP installation on disk? Thanks!
