  • Using Flot's Bar Graph in an Android WebView with Highlighting

    - by Nicholi
    The issue is unhighlighting bars which are no longer selected in a bar graph plotted by flot in a WebView on Android. Got no other issues drawing the actual graphs (which look beautiful for something so simple btw). I am not extremely knowledgeable in terms of javascript and web design/development but it seems little should have been needed, if it would just work!! :( I believe I'm following the Flot API correctly, if not someone please scream and yell at me. It seems to work just fine in a non-mobile browser at least. Hoping someone has done this before, but if not I've got the minimal necessary code to poke at your droids if inquiring minds would like to test. I've tested on two Nexus Ones (both 2.2.1), and have tried targeting with Andriod 1.5 and 2.2 SDKs (my intention is to target 1.5 if possible). I've been attempting to hack away at this for far too long on my own now. What happens: 1. Graph loads fine with bars. All bars unhighlighted. 2. Select a bar in graph, gets highlighted fine (and a tooltip is placed). 3. Select a different bar in graph, old bar is unhighlighted, old tooltip removed, new bar highlighted and tooltip placed (still no problems). 4. Click in the vast darkness of the graph which should then unhighlight the last bar... but it doesn't. I've tried disabling flot's autohighlight and manually doing it as well to no avail. Looking into flot itself and only getting down to drawOverlay() where the issue seems to begin... An even more disturbing bug(?) appears if the fill bar option is enabled in the graph, but I'd rather just forget about that for now. Also grabbed the latest version of flot from their svn (r290), but made no different from last public release (v0.6). As a complete guess I'm thinking it's an issue with WebKit's javascript implementation (or something specific to Nexus Ones, which wouldn't be so bad), but if there is any ugly hack to just get it to work I'm all ears. I've thrown the graph data directly into the html/js, rather than deal with showing all the code involved in the Java-javascript handler and callbacks. The simple html placed in 'assets/flot/test/' with jquery.js and jquery.flot.js: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8"> <script src="jquery.js"></script> <script src="jquery.flot.js"></script> <script id="source" language="javascript" type="text/javascript"> var lastItem = null; var plot = null; $(document).ready(function () { //window.testhandler.loadGraph(); // bind plotclick here $("#graphHolder").bind("plotclick", function (event, pos, item) { if (item) { var lastPoint = null; if (lastItem != null) lastPoint = lastItem.datapoint; if (!pointEquals(lastPoint, item.datapoint)) { //if (lastItem != null) // plot.unhighlight(lastItem.series, lastItem.datapoint); lastItem = item; $("#tooltip").remove(); //plot.highlight(item.series, item.datapoint); showTooltip(item.pageX, item.pageY, item.datapoint[1]); } } else if (lastItem != null) { plot.unhighlight(lastItem.series, lastItem.datapoint); // not unhighlighting anything //plot.unhighlight(); // doesn't work either, supposed to unhighlight everything lastItem = null; $("#tooltip").remove(); } }); GotGraph(); }); /** * Show a tooltip above bar in graph * @param {int} x Left coordinate of div * @param {int} y Top coordinate of div * @param {String} contents text to place in div */ function showTooltip(x, y, contents) { $('<div id="tooltip">' + contents + '</div>').css( { position: 'absolute', display: 'none', top: y, left: x, border: '1px solid #fdd', padding: '2px', 'background-color': '#fee', opacity: 0.80 }).appendTo("body").fadeIn(200); } /** * Draw the graph. • Smooth Error in qplot from ggplot2

    - by Jared
    I have some data that I am trying to plot faceted by its Type with a smooth (Loess, LM, whatever) superimposed. Generation code is below: testFrame <- data.frame(Time=sample(20:60,50,replace=T),Dollars=round(runif(50,0,6)),Type=sample(c("First","Second","Third","Fourth"),50,replace=T,prob=c(.33,.01,.33,.33))) I have no problem either making a faceted plot, or plotting the smooth, but I cannnot do both. The first three lines of code below work fine. The fourth line is where I have trouble: qplot(Time,Dollars,data=testFrame,colour=Type) qplot(Time,Dollars,data=testFrame,colour=Type) + geom_smooth() qplot(Time,Dollars,data=testFrame) + facet_wrap(~Type) qplot(Time,Dollars,data=testFrame) + facet_wrap(~Type) + geom_smooth() It gives the following error: Error in [<-.data.frame(*tmp*, var, value = list(NA = NULL)) : missing values are not allowed in subscripted assignments of data frames What am I missing to overlay a smooth in a faceted plot? I could have sworn I had done this before, possibly even with the same data.

  • Obey the MediaBox/CropBox in PDF when using ghostscript to render a PDF to a png

    - by gordonwatts
    I've been using ghostscript to convert my single figure plots rendered in PDF to png: gswin32c -sDEVICE=png16m -r300x300 -sOutputFile=junk.png -dBATCH -dNOPAUSE Figure_001-a.pdf This works in the sense I get a png out and it contians the plot. But it contains a huge amount of white space as well (an example source image: http://cdsweb.cern.ch/record/1258681/files/Figure_001-a.pdf). If you view it in Acrobat you'll note there is no white space around the plot. If you use the above command line you'll find the plot is only about 1/3 of the space. When doing the same thing with an eps file I run into the same problem. However, there is the command-line parameter -dEPSCrop that one can pass to get the PS rendering engine to pay attention to the BoundingBox. I need the similar argument for rendering PDF's. I was not able to find it in docs (nor even the EPSCrop, actually).

  • How to compare a memory bits in C++?

    - by Trunet
    Hi, I need help with a memory bit comparison function. I bought a LED Matrix here with 4 x HT1632C chips and I'm using it on my arduino mega2560. There're no code available for this chipset(it's not the same as HT1632) and I'm writing on my own. I have a plot function that get x,y coordinates and a color and that pixel turn on. Only this is working perfectly. But I need more performance on my display so I tried to make a shadowRam variable that is a "copy" of my device memory. Before I plot anything on display it checks on shadowRam to see if it's really necessary to change that pixel. When I enabled this(getShadowRam) on plot function my display has some, just SOME(like 3 or 4 on entire display) ghost pixels(pixels that is not supposed to be turned on). If I just comment the prev_color if's on my plot function it works perfectly. Also, I'm cleaning my shadowRam array setting all matrix to zero. variables: #define BLACK 0 #define GREEN 1 #define RED 2 #define ORANGE 3 #define CHIP_MAX 8 byte shadowRam[63][CHIP_MAX-1] = {0}; getShadowRam function: byte HT1632C::getShadowRam(byte x, byte y) { byte addr, bitval, nChip; if (x>=32) { nChip = 3 + x/16 + (y>7?2:0); } else { nChip = 1 + x/16 + (y>7?2:0); } bitval = 8>>(y&3); x = x % 16; y = y % 8; addr = (x<<1) + (y>>2); if ((shadowRam[addr][nChip-1] & bitval) && (shadowRam[addr+32][nChip-1] & bitval)) { return ORANGE; } else if (shadowRam[addr][nChip-1] & bitval) { return GREEN; } else if (shadowRam[addr+32][nChip-1] & bitval) { return RED; } else { return BLACK; } } plot function: void HT1632C::plot (int x, int y, int color) { if (x<0 || x>X_MAX || y<0 || y>Y_MAX) return; if (color != BLACK && color != GREEN && color != RED && color != ORANGE) return; char addr, bitval; byte nChip; byte prev_color = HT1632C::getShadowRam(x,y); bitval = 8>>(y&3); if (x>=32) { nChip = 3 + x/16 + (y>7?2:0); } else { nChip = 1 + x/16 + (y>7?2:0); } x = x % 16; y = y % 8; addr = (x<<1) + (y>>2); switch(color) { case BLACK: if (prev_color != BLACK) { // compare with memory to only set if pixel is other color // clear the bit in both planes; shadowRam[addr][nChip-1] &= ~bitval; HT1632C::sendData(nChip, addr, shadowRam[addr][nChip-1]); shadowRam[addr+32][nChip-1] &= ~bitval; HT1632C::sendData(nChip, addr+32, shadowRam[addr+32][nChip-1]); } break; case GREEN: if (prev_color != GREEN) { // compare with memory to only set if pixel is other color // set the bit in the green plane and clear the bit in the red plane; shadowRam[addr][nChip-1] |= bitval; HT1632C::sendData(nChip, addr, shadowRam[addr][nChip-1]); shadowRam[addr+32][nChip-1] &= ~bitval; HT1632C::sendData(nChip, addr+32, shadowRam[addr+32][nChip-1]); } break; case RED: if (prev_color != RED) { // compare with memory to only set if pixel is other color // clear the bit in green plane and set the bit in the red plane; shadowRam[addr][nChip-1] &= ~bitval; HT1632C::sendData(nChip, addr, shadowRam[addr][nChip-1]); shadowRam[addr+32][nChip-1] |= bitval; HT1632C::sendData(nChip, addr+32, shadowRam[addr+32][nChip-1]); } break; case ORANGE: if (prev_color != ORANGE) { // compare with memory to only set if pixel is other color // set the bit in both the green and red planes; shadowRam[addr][nChip-1] |= bitval; HT1632C::sendData(nChip, addr, shadowRam[addr][nChip-1]); shadowRam[addr+32][nChip-1] |= bitval; HT1632C::sendData(nChip, addr+32, shadowRam[addr+32][nChip-1]); } break; } } If helps: The datasheet of board I'm using. On page 7 has the memory mapping I'm using. Also, I have a video of display working.

  • possible bug in geom_ribbon

    - by tomw
    i was hoping to plot two time series and shade the space between the series according to which series is larger at that time. here are the two series-- first in a data frame with an indicator for whichever series is larger at that time d1 <- read.csv("https://dl.dropbox.com/s/0txm3f70msd3nm6/ribbon%20data.csv?dl=1") And this is the melted series. d2 <- read.csv("https://dl.dropbox.com/s/6ohwmtkhpsutpig/melted%20ribbon%20data.csv?dl=1") which I plot... ggplot() + geom_line(data = d2, aes(x = time, y = value, group = variable, color = variable)) + geom_hline(yintercept = 0, linetype = 2) + geom_ribbon(data = d1[d1$big == "B",], aes(x = time, ymin = csa, ymax = csb), alpha = .25, fill = "#9999CC") + geom_ribbon(data = d1[d1$big == "A",], aes(x = time, ymin = csb, ymax = csa), alpha = .25, fill = "#CC6666") + scale_color_manual(values = c("#CC6666" , "#9999CC")) which results in... why is there a superfluous blue band in the middle of the plot?

  • geom_tile heatmap with different high fill colours based on factor

    - by Michael
    I'm interested in building a heatmap with geom_tile in ggplot2 that uses a different gradient high color based on a factor. The plot below creates the plot where the individual tiles are colored blue or red based on the xy_type, but there is no gradient. ggplot() + geom_tile(data=mydata, aes(x=factor(myx), y=myy, fill=factor(xy_type))) + scale_fill_manual(values=c("blue", "red")) The plot below does not use the xy_type factor to choose the color, but I get a single group gradient based on the xy_avg_value. ggplot() + geom_tile(data=mydata, aes(x=factor(myx), y=myy, fill=xy_avg_value)) Is there a technique to blend these two plots? I can use a facet_grid(xy_type ~ .) to create separate plots of this data, with the gradient. As this is ultimately going to be a map (x~y coordinates), I'd like to find a way to display the different gradient together in a single geom_tile map.

  • Flex chart display with no datapoint

    - by Shah Al
    I need to display price of item for every date in the month. The chart can be Bar chart or plot chart. Question: Suppose there is no data available for 01/15/2010 then, Is there a way to display (01/15/2010) on x axis but no (bar or plot point) corresponding y axis point ? i.e. there will be a empty space between 2 bars or plot points. Currently i am using 0 , But 0 is a valid value. Let me know if such a display is possible.

  • for (i in xxx) ggplot problem

    - by Andreas
    This is strange - I think? library(ggplot2) tf <- which(sapply(diamonds, is.factor)) diamonds.tf <- diamonds[,tf] So far so good. But next comes the trouble: pl.f <- ggplot(diamonds.tf, aes(x=diamonds.tf[,i]))+ geom_bar()+ xlab(names(diamonds.tf[i])) for (i in 1:ncol(diamonds.tf)) { ggsave(paste("plot.f",i,".png",sep=""), plot=pl.f, height=3.5, width=5.5) } This saves the plots in my working directory - but with the wrong x-label. I think this is strange since calling ggplot directly produces the right plot: i <- 2 ggplot(diamonds, aes(x=diamonds[,i]))+geom_bar()+xlab(names(diamonds)[i]) I don't really know how to describe this as a fitting title - suggestions as to a more descriptive question-title is most welcome. Thanks in advance

  • Issue with plotting daily data using ggplot

    - by user1723765
    I tried to plot daily data from 9 variables in ggplot, but the graph I get cannot handle the date variable properly. The x axis is unreadable and its impossible to read the plot. I'm guessing there's an issue with the handling of dates. Here's the data: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/22681355/su.csv Here's the code I've been using: su=read.csv(file="su.csv", head=TRUE) meltdf=melt(su) ggplot(meltdf, aes(x=Date, y=value, colour=variable, group=variable))+geom_line() and here's the output: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/22681355/output.jpg here's the same plot done in excel, why does it look completely different?

  • Get rid of "Figure 1" in the title of the figure

    - by Alon Shmiel
    I have a figure that I want his name to be Step 2 of 3: Simulation Plot Window, but its name is: figure 2: Step 2 of 3: Simulation Plot Window. How can I change his name to the name I want? I don't know if it's necessary, but in the start of the code I wrote: hFig = figure('Name','window 1','Visible','Off'); and Towards my code ends, I write: hFig = figure('Name','Step 2 of 3: Simulation Plot Window','Menubar','none', 'Resize','off', ... 'WindowStyle','modal', 'Position',[300 300 1150 600]);

  • Python, Matplotlib, subplot: How to set the axis range?

    - by someone
    How can I set the y axis range of the second subplot to e.g. [0,1000] ? The FFT plot of my data (a column in a text file) results in a (inf.?) spike so that the actual data is not visible. pylab.ylim([0,1000]) has no effect, unfortunately. This is the whole script: # based on http://www.swharden.com/blog/2009-01-21-signal-filtering-with-python/ import numpy, scipy, pylab, random xs = [] rawsignal = [] with open("test.dat", 'r') as f: for line in f: if line[0] != '#' and len(line) > 0: xs.append( int( line.split()[0] ) ) rawsignal.append( int( line.split()[1] ) ) h, w = 3, 1 pylab.figure(figsize=(12,9)) pylab.subplots_adjust(hspace=.7) pylab.subplot(h,w,1) pylab.title("Signal") pylab.plot(xs,rawsignal) pylab.subplot(h,w,2) pylab.title("FFT") fft = scipy.fft(rawsignal) #~ pylab.axis([None,None,0,1000]) pylab.ylim([0,1000]) pylab.plot(abs(fft)) pylab.savefig("SIG.png",dpi=200) pylab.show() Other improvements are also appreciated!

  • ggplot add percentage labels based on x-axis variables

    - by eugeneyan
    I've a ggplot that shows the counts of tweets for some brands as well as a label for the overall percentage. This was done with much help from this link: ggplot: showing % instead of counts in charts of categorical variables # plot ggplot of brands ggplot(data = test, aes(x = brand, fill = brand)) + geom_bar() + stat_bin(aes(label = sprintf("%.02f %%", ..count../sum(..count..)*100)), geom = 'text', vjust = -0.3) Next, I would like to plot it based on brand and sentiment, with the labels for the bars of each brand totalling up to 100%. However, I have difficulty amending my code to do this. Would you be able to help please? Also, would it be possible to change the colours for neu to blue and pos to green? # plot ggplot of brands and sentiment ggplot(data = test, aes(x = brand, fill = factor(sentiment))) + geom_bar(position = 'dodge') + stat_bin(aes(label = sprintf("%.02f %%", ..count../sum(..count..)*100)), geom = 'text', position = position_dodge(width = 0.9), vjust=-0.3)

  • Is Android (read typical devices) fast enough for a game that requires plotting pixel by pixel rather than blitting

    - by mP
    i have an idea for an Android game which is a little different from the typical game that usually moves sprites(bitmaps) around the screen. Id want to plot lots of little pixels to create my visuals. PROS no bitmaps required pixel plotting of stuff like "fire" can react to wind. no need to scale bitmaps, works w/ any screen res (lets pretend device can handle more drawing because its got a bigger screen). CONS slower to plot pixels than blit bitmaps need lot of animation frames. WISHES id like to update my game in real time, more is better 30fps is good but not essential, 15fps is enough. PERFORMANCE Q... Is the typical Android device fast enough to plot say half a screenful of pixels w/ a default background ? if full screen is not practical what window size should be able to handle such refreshes

  • ggplot2 add legend for each geom_point manually

    - by user1162769
    I created a plot using 2 separate data sets so that I could create different errorbars. The first data set has error bars that go down only whereas the second data set has error bars that go up only. This prevents unnecessary overlap in the plot. I also used a compound shape for one of the groups. I want to create a legend based on these shapes (not a colour), but I can't seem to figure it out. Here is the plot code. p<-ggplot() p + geom_point(data=df.figure.1a, aes(x=Hour, y=Mean), shape=5, size=4) + geom_point(data=df.figure.1a, aes(x=Hour, y=Mean), shape=18, size=3) + geom_errorbar(data=df.figure.1a, aes(x=Hour, y=Mean, ymin = Mean - SD, ymax = Mean), size=0.7, width = 0.4) + geom_point(data=df.figure.1b, aes(x=Hour, y=Mean), shape=17, size=4) + geom_errorbar(data=df.figure.1b, aes(x=Hour, y=Mean, ymin = Mean, ymax = Mean + SD), size=0.7, width = 0.4)

  • Bing Maps Integrated With ASP.NET Pivot Grid v2010 vol 1

    Check out this slick demo which shows how sales data from the ASPxPivotGrid is plotted and displayed using the Bing.com maps service. The Bing Maps service provides you the capability to plot data geographically on a map. For example, this ASPxPivotGrid shows the quantity of products sold per country: We can plot this data on to a map because the Bing maps services provides developers with a JavaScript API to display maps, locate countries and businesses and create pushpin indicators! Now, we...Did you know that DotNetSlackers also publishes .net articles written by top known .net Authors? We already have over 80 articles in several categories including Silverlight. • Free/opensource application for charting stock prices?

    - by Homunculus Reticulli
    I am looking for a free or FOSS software application for SIMPLY charting stock prices. I am not interested in any of the other nonsense typically bundled with such packages (technical analysis, back testing, tracking etc, etc). All I want to do is the following: Import file from CSV and plot on the chart Ability to scroll the chart left/right (zoom feature would be nice to) Ability to draw straight line (between 2 points) on the plot Ability to plot the graph for different resolutions (for e.g weekly, monthly - or some other custom resolution that I want) print the displayed graph (I can always use screen capture if printing is too much to ask) Thats all I want to do. I am not interested in anything else. I would have thought I could have found something by now. I would have written my own tool (I still will do that at a later stage), but I am a bit short of time at the moment, so I just want something that will do all of the above. Can anyone recommend a package. Last but not the least, I am running on Linux (and would prefer to do so - BUT if I have to, I can run on ahem - you know, Windows)

How can I tell matplotlib to put it to the right of the plot and at the right?

  • Tools for visualizing and implementing elliptic curve cryptography

    - by LL
    I need to create a program which will show how elliptic curve cryptography works. I was considering using Java Swing to create the GUI, but the main problem is what tool to use to plot the elliptic curve itself, and how to integrate that with Java Swing. I would like the plot to be included in the user interface and also allow changes to be made to it. Can you suggest any tools that would help with this?

  • Mathematica, PDF Curves and Shading

    - by Venerable Garbage Collector
    I need to plot a normal distribution and then shade some specific region of it. Right now I'm doing this by creating a plot of the distribution and overlaying it with a RegionPlot. This is pretty convoluted and I'm certain there must be a more elegant way of doing it. I Googled, looked at the docs, found nothing. Help me SO! I guess Mathematica counts as programming? :D
