• What's the correct way to represent a linear process in CocoaTouch (UIKit)?

  I need to represent a linear process (think wizard) in an iPad app. In principle I could use a UINavigationController and just keep pushing new controllers for each step of the process. But this seems rather inefficient since the process I'm modeling has no notion of navigating backwards so all previous views would pointlessly stay around and use up resources. At the moment I keep adding and removing a subview to one "master" viewcontroller and basically swapping out the contents. This works but feels rather clunky and I hope there is some nicer way to achieve this. Additionally there needs to be an animated transition between the views. (I have this working at the moment via beginAnimations / commitAnimations)

• Rails routing: how to mix "GET" and "PUT"

  Not sure how to frame this question (I'm still wrapping my head around Rails). Let's try this: Say I wanted to implement the user side of Ryan Bates' excellent railscast on nested models. (He shows how to implement a survey where you can add and remove questions and answers dynamically). I want the user's side of this: to be able to answer questions and, not in the tutorial, be able to add comments. It seems to me that you have to implement a view that shows the questions and answers, allow selection of the answers, and the input of comments. So there would need to be a way to show the information, but also update the model on input, right? I know I'm not explaining this very well. I hope you understand what I'm getting at. Is it just a question of setting up the right routes? Or is there some controller mojo that needs to happen?

  I have compared gcc assembler output of do{ //some code }while(0); with do{ //some code break; }while(1); The output is equal, with or without optimization but.. It's always that way? No experiment can prove theories, they can only show they are wrong And because (I hope) programming is not an experimental science, and results can be predicted (at least simple things) I want to be sure next time I reeplace a break;}while(1); for the clearer (and less risky) while(0); Thank you for reading

• I would like to learn C++, what is the first step ?

  My actual experience comes from PHP and Delphi(Borland) and recently also from Obj-C (iPhone sdk). In the past I also used Java, Python, VB 6 and some other scripting language. I would like to learn C++ because i need a standard tool for write compiled applications with good performance but i have no idea about witch environment i have to choose (Ex: Borland, Microsoft, Eclipse+MinGW, ...). Based those parameters: Most useful more opensource project or work requests Most standard not a proprietary versions Biggest community documentation, manuals, tutorials, forums... Better IDE add-ons, highlight, debug, cross platform, autocomplete... Easy setup A simple setup, to focus on learning the basics Actually I'm on OSX but I can use a VM if needed. Advices about tutorial or books are welcome. I hope it's not too generic as question.

• Checking for 2 exepcted values in Junit

  Hi, I have a java program which throws an exception with 2 different messages for 2 different scenarios and I want the Junit test case to check for equality for both of these messages. As an example - public void amethod() { // do some processing if(scenario1 == true) { throw new MySystemException("An error occured due to case 1 being incorrect."); } else if(scenario2 == true) { throw new MySystemException("An error occured as case 2 could not be found"); } } Now the JUnit for this would be something like- public void testAMethod() { // do something assertEquals("Expected", "Actual"); } As I understand, in this above example, if I use the Scenario1 exception message the junit will fail when an exception is thrown for Scenario2 and vice versa. I would like to know if there is any other way provided in Junit by which I can use this one test method and check for both the messages for the test to pass? Something like an OR, if possible to provide the "Expected" value with both these expected message. I hope my query is clear enough. Thanks

• How do I make different texts to appear in after clicking x-times?

  I want to show some text within a class for each click but keep the clicky-class. Shortly, if you click 2 times, you will get a div-text "You clicked two times", you will still be able to click a third time, then you will get "You clicked three times", until the fifth time when everything will hide. Is there any simpel way to do this?   Hello, I'm a Delphiholic for quite some time now and lately I was thinking of learning some C# as well, however I'm kinda' "afraid of the unknown", I've done some simple apps as a test drive for C# and I have to admit that I've liked it, HOWEVER I do not really like the IDE... that being said here's the question that I would appreciate if others who went down this path would answer: As a Delphi developer what are the "main basic" changes from the Delphi language(by basic I mean basic -- utility functions, streams, etc.), I'm used to add "System, Classes, Windows" to uses not "use System.XXX.YYY.ZZZ", I'm trying to make a partial equality in my mind from Delphi to C# until I can see where does Delphi go hand-in-hand with C# and so on... I hope the question is pretty clear, if not, do not hesitate to swear me and I'll try to clarify as well as I can :-)

• Magento - How to link the Configurable Product image to the Simple Product image?

  This is the case: I have a configurable product with several simple products. These simple products need to have the same product image as the configurable product. Now I have to upload the same image to each simple product over and over again. Is there a way to link the product image of the configurable product to the simple products? Some of my products have 30 simple products in 1 configurable product and it is kinda irrelevant to upload the same image 30 times. I hope someone can help me with this problem! Thanks in advance!

• Django Problem - trying to access data entered into a form and feed it through a different page

  OK, so let me give you an overview first. I have this site and in it there is a form section. When you access that section you can view or start a new project. Each project has 3-5 different forms. My problem is that I don't want viewers to have to go through all 3-5 pages to see the relevant information they need. Instead I want to give each project a main page where all the essential data entered into the forms is shown as non-editable data. I hope this makes sense. So I need to find a way to access all that data from the different forms for each project and to feed that data into the new page I'll be calling "Main". Each project will have a separate main page for itself. I'm pretty much clueless as to how I should do this, so any help at all would be appreciated. Thanks

  Hello GNU 23.1.1 By clicking the F5 button I can compile my project. However, I want to extend this so that any unsaved work would be saved and then compiled. Normally I just do C-x-s to save then click F5. But can I add a line that will save without having to ask me do I want to save then it will compile, all done automatically? ; Compile program using <F5> ; Save all unsaved files here, then compile (global-set-key [f5] 'compile) Hope you understand me? I would like to perform a search from projects controller that can do the following: FIND all DISTINCT Project.scedule WHERE Category.slug != 'uncategorised' Apologies for the syntax, I'm no sequel expert. What I have managed to do is to retrieve all projects that do not belong to Category uncategorised into an array however I'm not sure as to how to search again the array result for DISTINCT Project.schedule values (needed to fill out a form drop down) I hope I made myself clear.

• What is a simple C library for a set of integer sets?

  I've got to modify a C program and I need to include a set of unsigned integer sets. That is, I have millions of sets of integers (each of these integer sets contains between 3 and 100 integers), and I need to store these in some structure, lets call it the directory, that can in logarithmic time tell me whether a given integer set already exists in the directory. The only operations that need to be defined on the directory is lookup and insert. This would be easy in languages with built-in support for useful data structures, but I'm a foreigner to C and looking around on Google did (surprisingly) not answer my question satisfactorily. This project looks about right: http://uthash.sourceforge.net/ but I would need to come up with my own hash key generator. This is a standard, simple problem, so I hope there is a standard and simple solution.

  I use javascript and css to build a multi-level drop down menu with following markups: <ul> <li>menu item 1</li> <ul> <li><a href="#">sub menu menu item 1</a></li> ................. This markup is generated by a custom JSTL tag <mui:menu .../> which loads menu data from a database. I hope my jsp page can behave like this: if menu data has not changed since last time I visited the page, just use browser's cache otherwise load from database... How can I do it? I don't know much detail about cache mechanism.

• Adding more OR searches with CONTAINS Brings Query to Crawl

  I have a simple query that relies on two full-text indexed tables, but it runs extremely slow when I have the CONTAINS combined with any additional OR search. As seen in the execution plan, the two full text searches crush the performance. If I query with just 1 of the CONTAINS, or neither, the query is sub-second, but the moment you add OR into the mix the query becomes ill-fated. The two tables are nothing special, they're not overly wide (42 cols in one, 21 in the other; maybe 10 cols are FT indexed in each) or even contain very many records (36k recs in the biggest of the two). I was able to solve the performance by splitting the two CONTAINS searches into their own SELECT queries and then UNION the three together. Is this UNION workaround my only hope? Thanks. • Slide through view controllers but not with the UISwipeGestureRecognizer

  Here is my issue, i got 5 view controllers and i can switch between them trough swipe with the UISwipeGestureRecognizer class and xcode's storyboard. So this works, but, i dont like the slide effect. I like to make it in a way so you can exactly slide the view to another by dragging it. I searched on the internet but i cant find any functions or tutorial on how to do this. Thanks in advance! Edit: Im not looking the scroll view.   Hello Experts, I have a tabcontrol and I place datagrid inside a tabcontrol... But I could not focus that Datagrid at the load event ... Focus means I couldn't navigate through keyboard into it... I thought it was for the mere reason that he deemed it would be more elegant than indenting the whole switch under an else statement, what do you think?

• Finding files with bash and copy to another location and reducing depth of folders

  I'm trying to recover a mates hard drive, there is no structure what so ever so music and images are everywhere but in named folders sometimes 5 folders deep, I've managed to write a one-liner that finds the files and copies them to a mounted drive but it preserves the file structure completely. What I'm after is a bit of code that searches the drive and copies to another location and copies just the parent folder with the mp3/jpg files within and not the complete path. The other issue I have is the music is /folder/folder/folder/Artist/1.mp3..2.mp3..10.mp3 etc etc so I have to preserve the folder 'Artist' to give him any hope of finding his tracks again. What I have working currently: find /media/HP/ -name *.mp3 -fprintf /media/HP/MUSIC/Script.sh 'mkdir -p "/media/HP/MUSIC/%h" \n cp "%h/%f" "/media/HP/MUSIC/%h/"\n' I then run the script.sh and it does all the copying. • After grouping by, can I refer to the elements of the original IEnumerable in a LINQ query?

  Example: from OriginalObject in ListOfOriginalObjects group new CustomObject { X = OriginalObject.A, Y = OriginalObject.B } by OriginalObject.Z into grouping select new GroupOfCustomObjects { Z = grouping.Key, C = OriginalObject.C, group = grouping } In the select part of the query, I'd like to add a property (OriginalObject.C) to the type GroupOfCustomObjects. But it seems that OriginalObject is out of scope in that part of the query. I can sort of understand why, since I am not grouping on that property and I am also not making that property part of CustomObject that I'm grouping. One workaround is to add a property C to CustomObject and the in the GroupOfCustomObjects read the value of the first CustomObject in the grouping. My issue with that is that I'm adding a property to an object that doesn't need it (CustomObject), just to be able to add it to the GroupOfCustomObjects. I hope I have explained this properly! Is there a way to refer to the OriginalObject that the query starts with? Thanks!

The BoxList should be able to: reorder by draging & droping items drag item from one BoxList to another display preview (ghost version) of dragged item show drop location (like a line between items where the dragged will be inserted) I hope there is some solution from microsoft (in toolkit for example), but if not I all be happy with any working solution. • Change the value of a dropdown if it is equal to something

  Sorry if this question has already been asked and answered, but I couldn't find anything specifically for my needs. I have a form that has placeholders and javascript to make sure the form isn't submitted with the placeholders still there. There is a dropdown box that has the value of 'Best time to call'. What I want to do is if this value is passed as the default, I want it to change to something like "n/a" or a blank value. I have achieved this with the comments box using the following javascript, but it doesn't seem to work the same for the dropdown: var comments=document.getElementById('comments').value; if (comments=="Comments") { document.getElementById('comments').value=""; } This isn't a required field so I can't have an alert come up, so I just need to value to be changed if submitted as 'Best time to call'. Hope I have explained everything correctly
