• Deploying my flex application

  Hi, I am doing some trial testing awith Amazon ec2 boxes, deploying flex apps running on top of restlet powered webservices. I have this problem - Everytime i deploy the app to the cloud, I'm having to hardcode the IP address of the server into the ActionScript/MXML files (http://72.93.48.39:8080/xxx/abc/) and for certain reasons, i am forced to choose a different IP everytime. and i think its really not the right way to deploy the application. I would like to know what other people do in such scenarios? On thinking about it, i thought i could make it pickup values from the HTMLVars of the HTML wrapper. but that again has to be edited everytime again and again. will it be possible to be able to supply these values : server's ip address, server's port number(in case its not 8080 on some machine) at build time? if so can anyone give me a barbones sample build.xml just as an example?

• How should it work if I want a page to have a theme-roller (more or less like the jQuery themeroller

  The basic idea is to create a page that gives the user the ability to choose a skin or theme from a menu. When the user selects the desired skin/theme, it should be applied to the page, just like the jquery ui theme roller page. So, to be more precise, what I am trying to know is how to apply dynamically the style to a page - how to load the css and so forth. On the jquery ui theme roller, is there any javascript triggered after the new set of styles is loaded? (for js positioning or sizing?) (The answer may be simple as "just create a new style element and set its src"...) Just to be clear, I don't need the option to let users customize the UI, I want them just to be able to pick from a few pre set styles. Thanks!

• View of nodes and their translations

  I'm trying to create a view of nodes and their translations. Specifically, I want each row to show the node title for each language. The way I'm doing it right now is by filtering the view by a specific language, then adding one relationship of type "Node translation: Translations" for each language on the site. I can then choose the "Node: Title" field, once for the original language and once per relationship. The problem with this approach is that the nodes that don't exist in the filtered language, but exist in other languages, are not included in the view. That's what I need help with.

• Can I combine atom feeds from seperate resources into one?

  I have two resource for which I would like to generate feeds; they are called podcasts and posts. The problem is that when I include the auto_discovery_link in my templates, I have to add one for each of the two atom feeds that I've generated. The reason why this is a problem is that there are now two feeds for users to choose from, and most people probably won't realise that they need both so will only pick one. Is there a way to combine atom feeds from different resources into one atom feed? Like application.atom or something? I'm using builder to generate the feed.

  I saw an interesting post sometime back but with no solution. Trying luck here: There is a table which contain 10 names (U1, U2, U3..and so on). I have to choose 5 names everyday, and display one as the Editor and 4 as Contributors While selecting the random names, I have to also consider that if one user is selected as Editor, he cannot become editor again till everyone got their chance. The output should look similar to the following: Editor Cont1 Cont2 Cont3 Cont4 20-Jun U1 U8 U9 U3 U4 21-Jun U7 U2 U5 U6 U10 22-Jun U3 U4 U9 U2 U8 23-Jun U4 U8 U3 U5 U2 and so on..

  This is about formatting the messages for logging so as to subsequently be able to parse them relatively easily esp. given the extensive logging required in financial apps Typically a line in the log file is of the form TimeStamp: Module/Function: where the log string contains whatever you choose, typically you'd have some key=value paradigm or even johnny5 key {value} etc. A regex search through the log file might easily pick up Module/Function but enforcing and maintaing consistency on the log string itself for every developer on the team is often a pain The logging api's are typically ILog.LogInfo(string text, params object[] args) ILog.LogWarning(string text, params object[] args) ILog.LogError(string text, params object[] args) Looking for opinions on better logging api's to format the log messages where a regex search can be performed for Module/Function = Basket/AddItem TokenA = Value1 and TokenB = Value2 etc. without going over every developer's every logging call

• distributing R package with optional S4 syntax sugar

  I've written a small package for logging, I'm distributing it through r-forge, recently I received some very interesting feedback on how to make it easier to use, but this functionality is based on stuff (setRefClass) that was added to R in 2.12. I'd like to keep distributing the package also for R-2.9, so I'm looking for a way to include or exclude the S4 syntactical sugar automatically, and include it when the library is loaded on a R = 2.12 system. one other option I see, that is to write a small S4 package that needs 2.12, imports the simpler logging package and exports the syntactically sugared interface... I don't like it too much, as I'd need to choose a different name for the S4 package.

  Hi I am trying to delete a row using the DataTables plugin. First I don't get the example at all. What I have this is a user checks the row they want to delete. I do this then var row = $('#id :checked').parents('tr'); So I get the row of the checked checkbox. Lets assume they only check one box( if multiple where choose it might be different - might need a jquery each loop). • In Sinatra, best way to serve iPhone layout vs. normal layout?

  I'm writing a Sinatra app which needs to render different layouts based on whether the user is using an iPhone or a regular browser. I can detect the browser type using Rack-Mobile-Detect but I'm not sure of the best way to tell Sinatra which layout to use. Also, I have a feeling that how I choose to do this may also break page caching. Is that true?   Hello, we are converting from sharepoint 2003 to sharepoint on line. I am having trouble reproducing a specific behavior in the online version. If a choose a list, I get a "select a view" navigation on the left hand side of the page showing the available views. When a new view is created, it automatically appears on this navigation list. In the online sharepoint, instead there is a view dropdown. I know I can manually setup links on the quick launch but I'm looking for an automatic way to do this. Can the online sharepoint be set up so that when views are added they automatically appear as left-hand links? Or can the "views" dropdown be moved to the left side which would be an acceptable work around? Please note I am unfamiliar with SP designer and I do work with .NET but I dont want to go that route just for this issue - thanks.

• zend_acl: Adding extra resources dynamically and getting a param predispatch

  First sorry about the woffle as I'm not sure how best to describe this. Basically I am not sure how I can get param in the bootstrap before the controller is loaded, but here is the long winded version... I have got an acl class storing all my default resources in. All my page/post content is a database and I want the admin the ability to choose who which role the page would become available. I know it is possible just to loop through the database table and add them all in at once, but I am concerned that this is a drain on resources. I have it working whereby my access check plugin can call a dynamic permission function, but I need to get the parameter of the current page ID and it's permission to set it before the controller is loaded. Does that make sense or am I worry over nothing and I should just get the resources of all the pages at once? thanks in advance for reading my garble!!

Via virtual machine manager I try to choose any interface it gives me interface not bridged When I try to bridge the interceface eth0 as below auto br0 iface br0 inet static address 192.168.0.223 network 192.168.0.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.0.255 gateway 192.168.0.1 bridge_ports eth0 bridge_fd 9 bridge_hello 2 bridge_maxage 12 bridge_stp off I cannot communicate with this interface to network, host server looses all the communication to network. But when I remote bridge interface from /etc/network/interfaces And configure eth0 as below it works fine The primary network interface auto eth0 iface eth0 inet static address 192.168.0.223 netmask 255.255.255.0 network 192.168.0.0 broadcast 192.168.0.255 dns-nameservers 62.215.6.51 gateway 192.168.0.1 how can i setup bridge interface correctly and how would my /etc/netwrok/interfaces file would look a like.

• How to prevent autoplay and run my own app when inserting an USB-Flash drive

  when inserting an USB-Flash drive, Windows normally opens the Autoplay dialog that offers to browse the drive or if there are multimedia files it offers to choose an app to open them. We developed a media player that is connected to the USB-Drive and registers itself as Mass Storage Device. What I need is, that when inserting the Player that this Dialog is not shown, but instead my own application is launched. Ideally the application would be on the Flash Drive itself, but as I understood is that Autorun is disabled for USB-Drives. It would be enough if a preinstalled application is launched. I already tried to catch the WM_DRIVE_CHANGE message, but this only works if my application is the top most window, otherwise the Autoplay Dialog is displayed. Best Tom

• Strategy to keep track of stored files in the documents directory?

  In my app, the user can save his input to disk. This is done with NSKeyedArchiver. Currently I simply name my files with a timestamp. But of course, the user may want to load one of them back in to keep on editing them. What would be the most reliable / safe strategy to keep track of those files? I need to present the user a list of those files, so that he can choose one to open. Currently I think of making an archived NSMutableArray which simply stores the file names, but I feel that this strategy is not really good. We all know when we save files sometimes something goes wrong, and this seems very likely to get currupted easily, or not? How would you do it?

If I just type a "<" then the code assist popup will come up with all the options I can choose from. I would like to know if the code assist can appear in more places though. If I type "<div" and hit space can I get another code assist popup? If so, how?

• Finding an available network port on the machine

  I'm trying to implement a simple FTP server (a variation of the EFTP protocol) in linux. When a client connects and sends the PASV command, the server should respond with a port number, so the client can connect to that port to transmit the file. How can the server choose a port number? Do I need to iterate through all the ports from 1024 to 65535 until I find a port that the process can bind to? I know that calling bind() with 0 as the port automatically chooses the port to bind to, but then how can I know which port was chosen? Many thanks.

  Hello! I have articles on my site, and I would like to add tags which would describe each article, but I'm having problems with design mysql table for tags. I have two ideas: 1) each article would have field "tags", and tags would be in format: "tag1,tag2,tag3" 2) create other table called tags with fields: tag_name, article_id, so when I want tags for article with ID 1, I would run SELECT ... FROM tags WHERE news_id=1; But, I would also like to know 3 similar articles by comparing tags, so if I have article which has tags "php,mysql,erlang", and 5 articles with tags: "php,mysql", "erlang,ruby", "php erlang", "mysql,erlang,javascript", I would choose 1., 3. and 4., since those 3 have most same tags with main article.   Hi, iam looking for a datagrid which contains objects from my class. class user { string name; int ID; ... } i tried AutoGenerateColumns = true. this will add columns (name, ID, ... like the properties of my class) but i want a different design. not all attributes from the object shold be shown and the columnheader shouldn't be generated from the variablenames... if i build a custom. column-design, i cant add my objects / they will not be displayed. is it possible to define my own columns according to my objects/class. i read about databindings, but i have no idea how i can bind objects/classes in WPF. (in Visual Studio i cant choose my class as datacontext)

• Is MS Reporting Services suitable for stand-alone reports?

  Hello all: I work for a ISV. Our product can use both SQL Server and Oracle as its back-end server. It includes a number of reports (currently in Crystal). We are investigating moving to Micrsoft Reporting Services, but I'm beginning to think that it's a bad idea. We want for our reports to look and feel as though they are a part of our application, and we will not require SQL Server (the customer can choose Oracle). Although I see the reporting services supports a stand-alone mode (RDLC), the boundry between what requires SQL server and what doesn't looks extremely ambiguous. (example, the stand-alone report builder appears to require SQL Server, most of the documentation appears to be part of SQL Server's documentation) It looks to me like if I want to keep my application DB-agnostic, I had better steer clear of Reporting Services. Have I missed the boat here?
