  • UIImage Fade in after load on my UITable

    - by Cy
I have an UIImage that loads from the web, and I'd like it to fade in when it displays in my UITableCell. if([thumb image]) { UIImage *imagen = [thumb.image retain]; [imagen drawInRect:CGRectMake(15, 4, 44, 44)]; [imagen release]; } How could I achieve it?

  • iPhone SDK SDL_openAudio with Multitasking Support

    - by brokedid
Hello, I'm playing audio from a Online Live RTPS Stream with ffmpeg(because Apple doesn't support rtsp live streaming). Now I would play my Stream in the background. I started a thread in the background and registered the music for Background support. When the Application is entering in Background the NSThread is paused, and then Resuming after returning from background. If I start playing a Music (MP3-Stream) in the Application which use official Apple Frameworks then when the App is entering Background both Streams are played. What can I do to fix this?

  • ARC and __unsafe_unretained

    - by J Shapiro
I think I have a pretty good understanding of ARC and the proper use cases for selecting an appropriate lifetime qualifiers (__strong, __weak, __unsafe_unretained, and __autoreleasing). However, in my testing, I've found one example that doesn't make sense to me. As I understand it, both __weak and __unsafe_unretained do not add a retain count. Therefore, if there are no other __strong pointers to the object, it is instantly deallocated. The only difference in this process is that __weak pointers are set to nil, and __unsafe_unretained pointers are left alone. If I create a __weak pointer to a simple, custom object (composed of one NSString property), I see the expected (null) value when trying to access a property: Test * __weak myTest = [[Test alloc] init]; myTest.myVal = @"Hi!"; NSLog(@"Value: %@", myTest.myVal); // Prints Value: (null) Similarly, I would expect the __unsafe_unretained lifetime qualifier to cause a crash, due to the resulting dangling pointer. However, it doesn't. In this next test, I see the actual value: Test * __unsafe_unretained myTest = [[Test alloc] init]; myTest.myVal = @"Hi!"; NSLog(@"Value: %@", myTest.myVal); // Prints Value: Hi! Why doesn't the __unsafe_unretained object become deallocated?

  • UIImage for UIImageView is nil

    - by yeesterbunny
I'm having problem displaying UIImage in UIImageView. I looked all over stackoverflow for similar questions, but none of the fixes helped me. The image is indeed in my bundle File Inspector - Target Membership is checked for the image IBOutlet is connected (I have tried both using IBOutlet and doing it programmatically) Both png nor jpg works Here's the code for using Interface Builder - //@property and @synthesize set for IBOutlet UIImageView *imageView - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; NSAssert(self.imageView, @"self.imageView is nil. Check your IBOutlet connection"); UIImage *image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"banner.jpg"]; NSAssert(image, @"image is nil"); self.imageView.image = image; } This code will terminate with NSAssert, printing in the console that 'image is nil'. I also tried selecting the Image directly from the attributes inspector: However it still doesn't show the image (still terminates with NSAssert - 'image is nil'). Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  • UIImage in UIView and display image parts out of bounds

    - by Mpampinos Holmens
I have an image in a subview that is bigger than the subview it self, is it possible to display parts of the image that are out of the subview! have tried the view.clipsToBounds=NO; but no lack still. here is part of my code so far. xRayView = [[XRayView alloc] initWithFrame: CGRectMake((1024 - 800) / 2, self.device.frame.origin.y - 26, 800,530)]; xRayView.clipsToBounds=NO; [xRayView setForgroundImage: [UIImage imageWithContentsOfFile: [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource: @"xray_foreground_01" ofType: @"png"]]]; [xRayView setBackgroundImage: [UIImage imageWithContentsOfFile: [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource: @"xray_background_01" ofType: @"png"]]]; the foreground and the background images are bigger than the xray view

  • Change Interval Of CADisplayLink

    - by user3679109
I have replaced an NSTimer with a CADisplayLink. I have it working properly but it is running too slowly. How could I go about speeding this up? This is the code that I'm using: ViewController.h (In {} with @interface: CADisplayLink *displayLink; ViewController.m (viewDidLoad): displayLink = [CADisplayLink displayLinkWithTarget:self selector:@selector(onTimer)]; [displayLink addToRunLoop:[NSRunLoop currentRunLoop] forMode:NSRunLoopCommonModes]; onTimer is the method that it is calling. So my question is how do I speed up how often this is being called? Thanks

  • NSTableView doesn't populate with array objects until a new object is added via the controller

    - by Luke
I have an NSTableView and an array controller set up as shown here, using cocoa bindings: https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/documentation/Cocoa/Conceptual/TableView/PopulatingViewTablesWithBindings/PopulatingView-TablesWithBindings.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/10000026i-CH13-SW3 In my app delegate during applicationDidFinishLaunching I have the following snippet in here, initialising the array and filling it with objects array = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; SomeObject* foo = [[Object alloc] init]; foo.text = @"sup"; [array addObject:foo]; //Repeat this a few times However, when I build the app and run it I end up with an empty table. However, if I bind a button to the array controller's add: input and click it during runtime (this adds a new object to the array and table) then the table will show the new object first, with the objects added during applicationDidFinishLaunching following it. Why does this happen? And is there a way to make my table populate without having to add an element first?

  • NSPredicate 'OR' filtering based on an NSArray of keys

    - by So Over It
Consider the following NSArray: NSArray *dataSet = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects: [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys:@"abc", @"key1", @"def", @"key2", @"hij", @"key3", nil], [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys:@"klm", @"key1", @"nop", @"key2", nil], [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys:@"qrs", @"key2", @"tuv", @"key3", nil], [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys:@"wxy", @"key3", nil], nil]; I am able to filter this array to find dictionary objects that contain the key key1 // Filter our dataSet to only contain dictionary objects with a key of 'key1' NSString *key = @"key1"; NSPredicate *key1Predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"%@ IN self.@allKeys", key]; NSArray *filteretSet1 = [dataSet filteredArrayUsingPredicate:key1Predicate]; NSLog(@"filteretSet1: %@",filteretSet1); Which appropriately returns: filteretSet1: ( { key1 = abc; key2 = def; key3 = hij; }, { key1 = klm; key2 = nop; } ) Now, I am wanting to filter the dataSet for dictionary objects containing ANY of the keys in an NSArray. For example, using the array: NSArray *keySet = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:@"key1", @"key3", nil]; I want to create a predicate that returns and array of any dictionary objects that contain either 'key1' or 'key3' (ie. in this example all dictionary objects would be returned except for the third object - as it does not contain either 'key1' or 'key3'). Any ideas on how I would achieve this? Would I have to use a compound predicate?

  • UIViewController maintains state after being nilled

    - by Eric
In my app, I made a BookViewController class that displays and animates the pages of a book and a MainMenuViewController class that displays a set of books the user can read. In the latter class, when the user taps on one of the books, a function is called that should create a completely new instance of BookViewController, but for some reason the instance maintains its state (i.e. it resumes from the page the user left off). How can this be if I set it to nil? What am I missing here? (Note that I'm using ARC). MainMenuViewController.m @interface MainMenuViewController () @property (strong) BookViewController *bookViewController; @end @implementation MainMenuViewController @synthesize bookViewController; -(void)bookTapped:(UIButton *)sender{ NSString *bookTitle; if(sender == book1button) bookTitle = @"book1"; else if(sender == book2button) bookTitle = @"book2"; bookViewController = nil; bookViewController = [[BookViewController alloc] initWithBookTitle:bookTitle]; [self presentViewController:bookViewController animated:YES completion:nil]; } BookViewController.h @interface BookViewController : UIViewController -(id)initWithBookTitle:(NSString *)bookTitle; @end BookViewController.m @implementation BookViewController -(id)initWithBookTitle:(NSString *)theBookTitle{ self = [super init]; if(self){ bookTitle = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@", theBookTitle]; [self setModalTransitionStyle:UIModalTransitionStyleCrossDissolve]; NSLog(@"init a BookViewController with bookTitle: %@", bookTitle); } return self; } Every time a book is tapped, bookTapped: is called, and thee console always prints: 2012-08-31 16:29:51.750 AppName[25713:c07] init a BookViewController with bookTitle: book1 So if a new instance of BookViewController is being created, how come it seems to be returning the old one?

  • Language restrictions on iPhone partially lifted?

    - by John Smith
Apparently Apple has changed some term in the agreement again. From http://www.appleoutsider.com/2010/06/10/hello-lua/ section 3.3.2 is now Unless otherwise approved by Apple in writing, no interpreted code may be downloaded or used in an Application except for code that is interpreted and run by Apple’s Documented APIs and built-in interpreter(s). Notwithstanding the foregoing, with Apple’s prior written consent, an Application may use embedded interpreted code in a limited way if such use is solely for providing minor features or functionality that are consistent with the intended and advertised purpose of the Application. instead of the original No interpreted code may be downloaded or used in an Application except for code that is interpreted and run by Apple’s Documented APIs and built-in interpreter(s). I am more interested in embedding Lua, but other people have other embeddings they want to make. I am wondering how you ask for permission, and what they mean by the terms "minor features" and "consistent" and how will Apple interpret this section? It seems to have enough loopholes to drive a real firetruck through. (BTW this is a terribly important question for me an my product.)

  • Increase content size of UIWebView using Javascript

    - by Sam
Hi folks, I have a translucent toolbar over the bottom of my UIWebView. The trouble is, if there is a link at the bottom of the page, I can't press it because the webview will always bounce back down to the bottom. I don't want to shrink the webview and use a solid colour toolbar, and UIWebViews interface doesn't open much up. What I would like to do, ideally, is to actually increase the size of the web page by one toolbar height, so that I can scroll that extra bit and have all the content above the toolbar, but when scrolling down I will be able to see the page content through the toolbar. I could use the stringByEvaluatingJavaScriptFromString: function of UIWebView. I'm very rusty on JavaScript- is it possible for me to do this? Increase the window height or something? I tried: [webView stringByEvaluatingJavaScriptFromString: [NSString stringWithFormat:@"window.resizeBy(0,%d);", TOOLBAR_HEIGHT] ]; but it didn't do anything. Any pointers welcome. Thanks.

  • CADisplayLink stops updating when UIScrollView scrolled

    - by Tricky
Title is quite self explanatory, but I have some animation being done in a loop triggered by CADisplayLink. However, as soon as I scroll a UIScrollView I have added to my view hierarchy, the animation stops immediately, only to return again when scrolling has completely stopped and come to a standstill.... Anyway to cancel this behaviour?

  • How to make same UIWebView take data from different local .html files?

    - by Mike Rychev
I have an app, where there's one UIWebView and a UITableView. I don't want to create many .xib's, so I decided to make one .xib for all elements of the table. When user chooses a table element, the UIWebView appears and I want it to load data from different .html's depending on the name of the parent controller. I tried this: if (selectedTableElement==@"FirstElement") { [childController.message loadRequest:[NSURLRequest requestWithURL:[NSURL fileURLWithPath:[[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"_" ofType:@"html"]isDirectory:NO]]]; } And then myWebView=message; But it didn't work. Thanks in advance!

  • detailsView title and description stays the same, not refreshing ...

    - by ahmet732
I have some values on my tableview coming from database. I simply tap one of them, navigate to detailsView then I can see the title and description of that value on my navigation controller. (title on navigation bar, description on text view in detailsView) but when I wanted to search, I click search bar, keyboard comes up from the bottom, tableview minimizes a bit then find what I want from table. I tap again but titles and descriptions show very first value of my table view .. It does not show the correct title and description. Whenever I searched, it shows the title and description of very first value on my table view..

  • passing info from facebook to UITabBarController

    - by EquinoX
When my app first start, it shows up a main page showing to login to facebook and then it goes to the UITabBarController. The code that I have in my app delegate is the following: //this is the .h @interface NMeAppDelegate : NSObject <UIApplicationDelegate> { UIWindow *window; MainViewController *controller; UITabBarController *tabBar; } @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UITabBarController *tabBar; @property (nonatomic, retain) MainViewController *controller; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UIWindow *window; @end //this is the .m of the app delegate #import "NMeAppDelegate.h" @implementation NMeAppDelegate @synthesize window; @synthesize tabBar; @synthesize controller; #pragma mark - #pragma mark Application lifecycle - (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions { // Override point for customization after application launch. controller = [[MainViewController alloc] init]; [window addSubview:tabBar.view]; [window addSubview:controller.view]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; return YES; } Inside of MainViewController, I actually have a Facebook * facebook object, which basically has all of the information that I need. Every information that I need for this apps is queried in the MainViewController. The problem is that after getting this info and now I am in the UITabViewController... how do I get those information that I already queried facebook for? I have a class called UserInfo as well, which basically has everything essential I need. I need to have the info from UserInfo so that the other ViewController in the UITabBarController have access to it.... I hope my question makes sense

Many thanks

  • The right approach to loading dynamic content into a UITableView in iOS

    - by OS.
ok, I've read tons of bits and pieces on the subject of loading dynamic content (from the web) into a UITableView and the problem with calculating cell height upfront. I've tried different simple implementations but the problem persists... Assuming I need to read a JSON file from the web, parse it into 'item' objects, each with variable size image and various text labels, here is what I believe would be the right approach to avoid long hang time of the app while everything is loading: on app load read JSON file and parse into items array provide only small part of the items array to the tableview (about 10 items) - since I need to load the images associated with each item to calculate cell height - I don't want the view to go through the whole items list and load all images - this hangs the app until every image is loaded display the tableview with the available cells (assuming I load a few 'spare' ones, user can even scroll to more items) in the background using Grand Central Dispatch download images for all/some of the remaining items and then reload the tableview with the new data (repeat step 4 if item list is very long) Step 2 above is necessary since I have no way to calculate the cell height without loading the images first, and since tableview first calculates height of all cells it may take a very long time to download all images for all items. Would you say this is the right approach? am I missing something?

  • game currency convert: math efficient

    - by Comradsky
For variables:4 text views named diamondText, goldText, silverText, and bronzeText;money variable unsigned int money;and an NSTimer, every .1 sec, runs function: -(void)updateMoney{ money++; bronzeText.text = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d",money]; silverText.text = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d",money%10]; goldText.text = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d",money%100]; diamondText.text= [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d",money%1000]; } Given that my currency is diamond = 10 gold = 10 silver = 10 bronze = 1; What would be most efficient way to calculate and display the money labels? How would you store this variable, with GameCenter and NSDictionary or GameCenter and something else? More details are below if you don't understand. To clarify: bronze has the last 2 numbers, silver has the next 2 numbers, and so on. I understand I could use 4 ints or an array, but i would rather try to use this method, unless theres a much more efficient way. Example: When money = 1000;bronzeText = nothing, silverText = 10,goldText = nothing, diamondText = nothing; What other ways would you do this that you think would be more efficient? I will be calling a function (void)collisionDetector that detects if my player.frame crosses with a flyingObject.frame, and if that object is a coin it gives an added value to money and then calls (void)updateMoney. Im just using the timer to test this and spawn these flying objects.

  • Structuring iPhone/iPad application views

    - by Mark
I have an idea about an application that I want to build and Im new to iPhone/iPad development (but not new to development in other languages/frameworks such as .NET and Java). I want to layout some views on the screen so that they animate (slide in) from different directions into their places. The question is about the strucuture of the application, if I have say 4 rectanglular areas on the screen that contain business data, such as contacts (name, photo, etc...) and they all take up different widths of the screen (say the first contact takes up one row of the screen, but the next 2 take up half the width of the next row each, and so on). Should I create a custom view for the different sized contact views, (i.e. LargeCustomView and SmallCustomView, and any other special type that I make) or should it all be one type, say, CustomerDetailsView which could be stretched to fit at design time? Also, if there were, say, 3 different instances of the same custom view on the one screen, are there 3 instances of the view controller also? Im a little confused about powering the data behind a view, can someone shed some light on this for me? Do I just set the properties (say an instance variable ContactForView) on the view controller for each instance? Thanks for any help you can give Cheers, Mark
