  • Custom class deallocated as soon as the app starts.

    Heya, I've added a class object to the nib file. All connections are made. But for some reason, the object is deallocated as soon as it's created. Here's the code: control.h: #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> @interface control : NSObject { IBOutlet UILabel *PlayerScore; } -(IBAction) addPoint: sender; -(void) dealloc; @end control.m: #import "control.h" @implementation control -(IBAction)addPoint: sender { NSLog(@"Ohhai. The first one is supposed to pass data, a NSUrl object to the second one. .m of the first one: NSURL *temp = [NSURL URLWithString:@"http://example.com"]; UIViewController *presentationsFullScreen_ViewController = [self.storyboard instantiateViewControllerWithIdentifier:@"PresentationsFullScreen_ViewController"]; presentationsFullScreen_ViewController.urlToUse = temp; .h of the second one: #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> @interface PresentationsFullScreen_ViewController : UIViewController { NSURL *urlToUse; } @property (nonatomic,retain) NSURL *urlToUse; It is obviously not working and not compiling,telling me essentially that I didn't subclass it and that the property urlToUse is not found on UIViewController. How do I subclass correctly? Thanks!

  • detailsView title and description stays the same, not refreshing ...

    I have some values on my tableview coming from database. I simply tap one of them, navigate to detailsView then I can see the title and description of that value on my navigation controller. (title on navigation bar, description on text view in detailsView) but when I wanted to search, I click search bar, keyboard comes up from the bottom, tableview minimizes a bit then find what I want from table. I tap again but titles and descriptions show very first value of my table view .. It does not show the correct title and description. Whenever I searched, it shows the title and description of very first value on my table view..

    Looking for a way to retrieve a file size from a web server using cocoa/foundation. I know one can use NSURLconnection which will return NSURLResponse that contains the file size. Is there any other way to get the size. I'm looking for a synchronous way of doing it so when i do [myClass getsize] the size is returned. Thanks

If it's local then what is the point of self = [super init] in init? I can successfully define some local variable and use like this, why would I need to assign it to self. -(id) init { id tmp = [super init]; if(tmp != nil) { //do stuff } return tmp; } b. If [super init] returns some other object instance and I have to overwrite self then I will not be able to access A's methods any more, since it will be completely new object? Am I right? c. super and self pointing to the same memory and the major difference between them is method lookup order. Am I right? sorry, don't have Mac to try, learning theory as for now...

  • Simple iOS Get Request Not Pulling in Data

    I have a very simple get request that doesn't return data on my script. The script is fine when viewed in the web browser but the app does not pull in the data. Any other script works with this code in the app. I'm unsure of what to do because there shouldn't be a reason for this to not work. Please let me know if you need more information.     I've been trying to figure how whether the iPhone (either 3G or 3Gs) camera puts metadata into it's images. Anecdotally, it appears that it does (e.g., I've seen images posted on the web that included a bunch of metadata), but I can't find reference to it anywhere in the SDK documentation. So....does anyone have a definitive answer? Also, if there is metadata, how do I get at it?

    I have opened my mac app in a new nsviewcontroller - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(NSNotification *)aNotification { self.masterViewController = [[MasterViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"MasterViewController" bundle:nil]; [self.window.contentView addSubview:self.masterViewController.view]; self.masterViewController.view.frame = ((NSView*)self.window.contentView).bounds; } Masterviewcontroller has a customized view in the .xib file. When I need to create an NSApp sheet in this NSViewController for another, I'm calling [NSApp beginSheet:_newDataWindow modalForWindow:window modalDelegate:self didEndSelector:nil contextInfo:nil]; I have to use 'window' for beginSheetModalForWindow. But how do I call it from another NSViewController. I end up with compilation error.
