  • Execution time of ALTER COLUMN

    Having a table with 60 columns, and 200 rows. Altering a BIT column from NULL to NOT NULL, now has a running execution time of over 3 hours. Why is this taking so long? This is the query that I'm execution: ALTER TABLE tbl ALTER COLUMN col BIT NOT NULL Is there a faster way to do it, besides creating a new column, updating it with values from the old column, then dropping the old column and renaming the new one? This is on MS SQL Server 2005.

  • Scala script to copy files

    I want to copy file a.txt to newDir/ from within a scala script. In java this would be done by creating 2 file streams for the 2 files, reading into buffer from a.txt and writing it to the FileOutputStream of the new file. Is there a better way to achieve this in scala? May be something in scala.tools.nsc.io._. I searched around but could not find much.

Actually it should be multiple rows with multiple columns, instead it forms as a multiple rows with a single column.     When I got sick my email ended up in every drug sellers email list. Some days I get over 200 emails selling everything from Viagra to Xanax. Either they don't know what my condition is or they are telling me you are a goner, might as well chill-ax and have a good time. In order to cut down on the mail being downloaded I thought I would add all of the Junk email senders from Outlook to my Network Solution mail server. Much to my amazement I could not find that import Spammers button, so I submitted a tech support request. Here is the response: Thank you for contacting Network Solutions Customer Service Department. We are committed to creating the best Customer experience possible. One of the first ways we can demonstrate our commitment to this goal is to quickly and efficiently handle your recent request. Using java via dalvik JVM. im fretting over a decision to represent objects in a particular map. should i use an id based map (2 dimensional integer array) and place game logic in a separate function in the game engine, or create an object array (2 dimensional array of game objects) and store game logic within the class methods. i am thinking about the cost of object creation and garbage collection vs extensibility.

QUESTION: Is there any reason in fact I should use an abstract class here as opposed to just a normal class? Note - Have already decided I do not want to use interfaces as I want to include actual default methods in my library so the client using it doesn't have to write the code.

    so I have this problem in running my Spring WS app which implements JPA ( or should implement..) I have a problem with running a WS, it looks like my Spring context can't find file persistence.xml Which i am able to believe because i did not have generated META-INF folder in my template (which is Maven project template with archetype org.springframework.ws) I have created META-INF manually. Suppose I am creating a service in IIS localhost. example localhost\TestService\Service.svc (WCFService Website). and my client is in d:\demo\client (windows form) Does it mean client is running on different AppDomian and Service is running on different Appdomain? How can i have client and service both running on same AppDomain?

    Hello. I have a Core Data model, and was wondering if you know how to create a binding to an Entity, programmatically? Normally you use bind:toObject:withKeyPath:options: to create a binding. But I'm having a little difficulty getting this to work with Core Data, and couldn't find anything in Apple's docs regarding doing this programmatically. The Core Data model is simple: An Entity called Book An Attribute of Book called author (NSString) I have an object called BookController. It looks like so: @interface BookController : NSObject { NSString *anAuthor; } @property (nonatomic, retain) NSString *anAuthor; // @synthesize anAuthor; inside @implementation I'd like to bind anAuthor inside BookController, to author inside a Book entity. We need a new instance of this class for each http request that comes in, but only one per request. What is the proper way to go about this?
