    Is there any way how to propagate properties from child control into parent - so I can access property like - Parent.Property1 instead of Parent.Child.Property1 ? I cant use inheritance - my parent cant be extended child type - its inherited from different class.     I am trying to do a simple query to get a unique result back in hibernate here is my code. public String getName(Integer id) { Session session = getSessionFactory().openSession(); String name = (String)session.createSQLQuery("SELECT name FROM users WHERE user_id = :userId").setParameter("userId", id).uniqueResult(); return name; } The name that is being returned is stored as HTML text that includes html syntacx language. I think this is what is causing the problem but it doesnt make sense I just want to return it as a string. It is only happening on this one field name, I can get every other field in the row but this one it gives me the error. I am getting an exception. The exception I am getting is No Dialect mapping for JDBC type: -1; nested exception is org.hibernate.HibernateException How do you query for a specific column on a row in hibernate?

    In PHP, is there a reliable and good way of getting these things: Protocol: i.e. http or https Servername: e.g. localhost Portnumber: e.g. 8080 I can get the server name using $_SERVER['SERVER_NAME']. I can kind of get the protocol but I don't think it's perfect: if(strtolower(substr($_SERVER["SERVER_PROTOCOL"],0,5))=='https') { return "https"; } else { return "http"; } I don't know how to get the port number though.     I just finished the Django tutorial and started work on my own project, however, I seem to have missed something completely. I wanted to get a random slogan from this model: from django.db import models class Slogan(models.Model): slogan = models.CharField(max_length=200) And return it in this view: from django.http import HttpResponse from swarm.sloganrotator.models import Slogan def index(request): return HttpResponse(Slogan.objects.order_by('?')[:1]) However, the view just returns 'Slogan object'. Then I thought, maybe I can access the slogan string itself by simply appending .slogan to the slice, but that gives me an error indicating that the object I have is actually a QuerySet and has no attribute slogan. I've obviously misunderstood something about Django here, but it just doesn't fall into place for me. Any help?

  • Can you step into specific properties in VS 2010?

    I know that you can either step into every property or not step into every property, but I would really like to be able to step into a specific property, and not the rest. Is this possible? (I also know I can use keyboard commands, but I'm asking if there's a more permanent solution.) I have a lot of properties and my setters do important things, so it's silly to step over them, but most of my getters are pointless.     When you make a new WCF project, sample service is generated for you. The default data contract is (I've just changed the string type field title): [DataContract] public class CompositeType { bool boolValue = true; string name = ""; [DataMember] public bool BoolValue { get { return boolValue; } set { boolValue = value; } } [DataMember] public string Name { get { return name; } set { name = value; } } } What is the point of having those private fields boolValue and name? Is it a good practice writing some data sanitizing or some other manipulations in contract, thus bloating it? It seems the only sane reason for me not writing to fields directly. So is it a bloatware or it has some reason behind it?

    Many are familiar with the hello world program in C #include <stdio.h> main () { printf ("hello world"); return 0; } Why do some precede the main () function with int as in: int main() Also, I've seen the word 'void' entered inside the () as in: int main(void) It seems like extra typing for nothing, but maybe it's a best practice that pays dividends in other situations? Also, why precede main() with an int if you're returning a character string? If anything, one would expect: char main(void) I'm also foggy about why we return 0 at the end of the function.
