  • how to make a CUDA Histogram kernel?

    - by kitw
    Hi all, I am writing a CUDA kernel for Histogram on a picture, but I had no idea how to return a array from the kernel, and the array will change when other thread read it. Any possible solution for it? __global__ void Hist( TColor *dst, //input image int imageW, int imageH, int*data ){ const int ix = blockDim.x * blockIdx.x + threadIdx.x; const int iy = blockDim.y * blockIdx.y + threadIdx.y; if(ix < imageW && iy < imageH) { int pixel = get_red(dst[imageW * (iy) + (ix)]); //this assign specific RED value of image to pixel data[pixel] ++; // ?? problem statement ... } } @para d_dst: input image TColor is equals to float4. @para data: the array for histogram size [255] extern "C" void cuda_Hist(TColor *d_dst, int imageW, int imageH,int* data) { dim3 threads(BLOCKDIM_X, BLOCKDIM_Y); dim3 grid(iDivUp(imageW, BLOCKDIM_X), iDivUp(imageH, BLOCKDIM_Y)); Hist<<<grid, threads>>>(d_dst, imageW, imageH, data); }

  • Storing string in CStatic

    - by Shark
    I have to create dynamically allocated array of CStatic (CStatic* array;), which then displayed on the dialog. It must be allocated and filled like this: array = new CStatic[list_box.GetCount()]; for (int i = 0; i < list_box.GetCount(); i++) { CString str; list_box.GetText(i, str); array[i].Create(str, WS_CHILD, CRect(), GetParent()); } But str is destroyed after the dialog is closed, because list_box destroyes too, and all pointers inside CStatics points nowhere (I assume it is not working because of this). What can I do to fix this? Any help would be appreciated. P.S. I know, that this is awful way and this is all wrong and I know how to do this right, but unfortunately, I can't change tasks, they give us in the university :)

  • MS Exam 70-536 - How to throw and handle exception from thread?

    - by Max Gontar
    Hello! In MS Exam 70-536 .Net Foundation, Chapter 7 "Threading" in Lesson 1 Creating Threads there is a text: Be aware that because the WorkWithParameter method takes an object, Thread.Start could be called with any object instead of the string it expects. Being careful in choosing your starting method for a thread to deal with unknown types is crucial to good threading code. Instead of blindly casting the method parameter into our string, it is a better practice to test the type of the object, as shown in the following example: ' VB Dim info As String = o as String If info Is Nothing Then Throw InvalidProgramException("Parameter for thread must be a string") End If // C# string info = o as string; if (info == null) { throw InvalidProgramException("Parameter for thread must be a string"); } So, I've tried this but exception is not handled properly (no console exception entry, program is terminated), what is wrong with my code (below)? class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { Thread thread = new Thread(SomeWork); try { thread.Start(null); thread.Join(); } catch (InvalidProgramException ex) { Console.WriteLine(ex.Message); } finally { Console.ReadKey(); } } private static void SomeWork(Object o) { String value = (String)o; if (value == null) { throw new InvalidProgramException("Parameter for "+ "thread must be a string"); } } } Thanks for your time!

  • Address book Phone number (+45) prefix causing crash!

    - by CCDEV
    Hi Guys... I am having trouble getting phone numbers from the iPhone Addressbook. There is no problem when the number do not contain a country code prefix like +45, but if it does, my app crashes... Is this a known issue? I haven't been able to find anything about it... Thanks EDIT: I get phonenumber like this: -(void)getContact { ABPeoplePickerNavigationController *pp = [[ABPeoplePickerNavigationController alloc] init]; pp.displayedProperties = [NSArray arrayWithObject:[NSNumber numberWithInt:kABPersonPhoneProperty]]; pp.peoplePickerDelegate = self; [self presentModalViewController:pp animated:YES]; [pp release]; } - (void)peoplePickerNavigationControllerDidCancel:(ABPeoplePickerNavigationController *)peoplePicker { // assigning control back to the main controller [self dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; } - (BOOL)peoplePickerNavigationController:(ABPeoplePickerNavigationController *)peoplePicker shouldContinueAfterSelectingPerson:(ABRecordRef)person { return YES; } -(BOOL)peoplePickerNavigationController:(ABPeoplePickerNavigationController *)peoplePicker shouldContinueAfterSelectingPerson:(ABRecordRef)person property:(ABPropertyID)property identifier:(ABMultiValueIdentifier)identifier { ABMultiValueRef phoneProperty = ABRecordCopyValue(person,property); saveString = (NSString *)ABMultiValueCopyValueAtIndex(phoneProperty,identifier); saveString = [saveString stringByReplacingOccurrencesOfString:@" " withString:@""]; nummerTextField.text = saveString; }

  • passing reference of class to another class android error

    - by prolink007
    I recently asked the precursor to this question and had a great reply. However, when i was working this into my android application i am getting an unexpected error and was wondering if everyone could take a look at my code and help me see what i am doing wrong. Link to the initial question: passing reference of class to another class My ERROR: "The constructor ConnectDevice(new View.OnClickListener(){}) is undefined" The above is an error detected by eclipse. Thanks in advance! Below are My code snippets: public class SmartApp extends Activity { /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.intro); final Button connectDeviceButton = (Button) findViewById(R.id.connectDeviceButton); connectDeviceButton.setOnClickListener( new View.OnClickListener() { @Override public void onClick(View v) { Thread cThread = new Thread(new ConnectDevice(this)); cThread.start(); } }); } } public class ConnectDevice implements Runnable { private boolean connected; private SmartApp smartAppRef; private ObjectInputStream ois; public ConnectDevice(SmartApp smartAppRef) { this.smartAppRef = smartAppRef; } }

  • Multiple dropdown combination check and filter

    - by Tom
    Using Javascript / jQuery, I'm trying to build a "combination checker" that will take the values of three (but can be more) dropdown lists and filter the options based on a supplied list of allowed combinations. For example: DROPDOWNS Field 1: - value_1 - value_2 Field 2: - value_3 Field 3: - value_4 - value_5 COMBINATIONS - value_1, value_3, value_5 - value_1, value_3, value_4 - value_2, value_3, value_5 When a user selects Field 3 - value_4, the unavailable options will be disabled - ie, Field 1 - value_2 (there is no combination that allows value_2 and value_4 to be selected together). It would be really great if someone could provide some pointers on how this can be achieved or just provide a fresh perspective - I'm going round in circles on this one!

  • Strange results about C++11 memory model (Relaxed ordering)

    - by Dancing_bunny
    I was testing the example in the memory model of the Anthony Williams's book "C++ Concurrency" #include<atomic> #include<thread> #include<cassert> std::atomic_bool x,y; std::atomic_int z; void write_x_then_y() { x.store(true, std::memory_order_relaxed); y.store(true, std::memory_order_relaxed); } void read_y_then_x() { while(!y.load(std::memory_order_relaxed)); if(x.load(std::memory_order_relaxed)) { ++z; } } int main() { x = false; y = false; z = 0; std::thread a(write_x_then_y); std::thread b(read_y_then_x); a.join(); b.join(); assert(z.load()!=0); } According to the explanation, relaxed operations on difference variables (here x and y) can be freely reordered. However, I repeated running the problem for more than several days. I never hit the situation that the assertion (assert(z.load()!=0);) fires. I just use the default optimization and compile the code using g++ -std=c++11 -lpthread dataRaceAtomic.cpp Does anyone actually try it and hit the assertion? Could anyone give me an explanation about my test results? BTW, I also tried the version without using the atomic type, I got the same result. Currently, both programs are running healthily. Thanks.

  • How to copy files from local machine to server using SSH file transfer protocol?

    - by morpheous
    I have an Ubuntu 9.10 desktop machine which I use locally. I am setting up a server on a hosting provider. The server will run a very minimal version of Ubuntu server LTS (only LAMP and email server no GUI). I want to write a script (scheduled as a cron job) that will allow me to upload local files onto the server. I want to use [SFTP][1], for security reasons. I am new to shell scripting - but I guess shell scripting is the way to do this (unless I am mistaken). Can anyone provide me with the initial pointers on how to go about writing such a script, in order to SECURELY upload local files to the server? Ideally, I would like to compress the files before the transfer (to save on bandwidth) [1]: http://SSH file transfer protocol

  • How do I get an Iterator over a vector of objects from a Template?

    - by nieldw
    I'm busy implementing a Graph ADT in C++. I have templates for the Edges and the Vertices. At each Vertex I have a vector containing pointers to the Edges that are incident to it. Now I'm trying to get an iterator over those edges. These are the lines of code: vector<Edge<edgeDecor, vertexDecor, dir>*> edges = this->incidentEdges(); vector<Edge<edgeDecor, vertexDecor, dir>*>::const_iterator i; for (i = edges.begin(); i != edges.end(); ++i) { However, the compiler won't accept the middle line. I'm pretty new to C++. Am I missing something? Why can't I declare an iterator over objects from the Edge template? The compiler isn't giving any useful feedback. Much thanks niel

  • java label setText and setBounds clashing?

    - by java
    I would like to have a JLabel changint color to a random one, while jumping to a random position, and while changing its text. but the setText and setBounds seem to clash and i don't know why. if you comment out the setText then the setBounds will work, but they won't work together. import java.awt.*; import java.util.*; import javax.swing.*; public class test2 extends JFrame { private static JLabel label = new JLabel("0"); private static Random gen = new Random(); public test2() { JPanel panel = new JPanel(); panel.add(label); this.add(panel); } public static void move() { for (int i = 0; i < 10; i++) { int n = gen.nextInt(254)+1; int nn = gen.nextInt(254)+1; int nnn = gen.nextInt(254)+1; label.setText(""+i); //the setBounds command will not work with the setText command. why? label.setBounds(n*2, nn*2, 20, 20); label.setForeground(new Color(n, nn, nnn)); try { Thread.sleep(200); } catch (Exception e) {} } } public static void main(String[] args) { test2 frame = new test2(); frame.setVisible(true); frame.setSize(600, 600); frame.setResizable(true); frame.setLocationRelativeTo(null); frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); move(); } }

  • C++ MACRO that will execute a block of code and a certain command after that block.

    - by Poni
    void main() { int xyz = 123; // original value { // code block starts xyz++; if(xyz < 1000) xyz = 1; } // code block ends int original_value = xyz; // should be 123 } void main() { int xyz = 123; // original value MACRO_NAME(xyz = 123) // the macro takes the code code that should be executed at the end of the block. { // code block starts xyz++; if(xyz < 1000) xyz = 1; } // code block ends << how to make the macro execute the "xyz = 123" statement? int original_value = xyz; // should be 123 } Only the first main() works. I think the comments explain the issue. It doesn't need to be a macro but to me it just sounds like a classical "macro-needed" case. By the way, there's the BOOST_FOREACH macro/library and I think it does the exact same thing I'm trying to achieve but it's too complex for me to find the essence of what I need. From its introductory manual page, an example: #include <string> #include <iostream> #include <boost/foreach.hpp> int main() { std::string hello( "Hello, world!" ); BOOST_FOREACH( char ch, hello ) { std::cout << ch; } return 0; }

  • Troubles moving a UIView.

    - by Joshua
    I have been trying to move a UIView by following a users touch. I have almost got it to work except for one thing, the UIView keeps flicking between two places. Here's the code I have been using: - (void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { NSLog(@"touchDown"); UITouch *touch = [touches anyObject]; firstTouch = [touch locationInView:self.view]; lastTouch = [touch locationInView:self.view]; [self.view setNeedsDisplay]; } - (void)touchesMoved:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { InSightViewController *contentView = [[InSightViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"SubView" bundle:[NSBundle mainBundle]]; [contentView loadView]; UITouch *touch = [touches anyObject]; currentTouch = [touch locationInView:self.view]; if (CGRectContainsPoint(contentView.view.bounds, firstTouch)) { NSLog(@"touch in subView/contentView"); sub.frame = CGRectMake(currentTouch.x - 50.0, currentTouch.y, 130.0, 21.0); } NSLog(@"touch moved"); lastTouch = currentTouch; [self.view setNeedsDisplay]; } And here's what's been happening: http://cl.ly/Sjx

  • Indirect property notification

    - by Carlo
    Hello, this question might look a little trivial, but it might not be. I'm just wondering which of the following two cases is better for indirect property notification, or perhaps there is an even better way. The scenario: I have two properties, the first one is an object called HoldingObject, the second one is a boolean called IsHoldingObject, which is false if HoldingObject == null, otherwise it's true. I'm just wondering what is the best notification mechanism for IsHoldingObject: Case (A) - Notify IsHoldingObject changed from the HoldingObject proeperty: public class NotifyingClass1 : INotifyPropertyChanged { private object _holdingObject; public object HoldingObject { get { return _holdingObject; } set { if (_holdingObject != value) { _holdingObject = value; NotifyPropertyChanged("HoldingObject"); // Notify from the property that is being checked NotifyPropertyChanged("IsHoldingObject"); } } } public bool IsHoldingObject { get { return this.HoldingObject == null; } } #region INotifyPropertyChanged Members public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged; private void NotifyPropertyChanged(string propertyName) { if (this.PropertyChanged != null) this.PropertyChanged(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs(propertyName)); } #endregion } Case (B) - Notify IsHoldingObject changed from the IsHoldingObject directly, by setting it to false or true from HoldingObject property: public class NotifyingClass2 : INotifyPropertyChanged { private object _holdingObject; public object HoldingObject { get { return _holdingObject; } set { if (_holdingObject != value) { _holdingObject = value; NotifyPropertyChanged("HoldingObject"); // 1) Set the property here this.IsHoldingObject = _holdingObject != null; } } } private bool _isHoldingObject; public bool IsHoldingObject { get { return _isHoldingObject; } set { if (_isHoldingObject != value) { _isHoldingObject = value; // 2) Notify directly from the property NotifyPropertyChanged("IsHoldingObject"); } } } #region INotifyPropertyChanged Members public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged; private void NotifyPropertyChanged(string propertyName) { if (this.PropertyChanged != null) this.PropertyChanged(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs(propertyName)); } #endregion } I personally lean to the first one because it requires less code, but I'm not sure how recommendable it is to do that. Let me know if there is another (better) way. Thanks!

  • casting vs using the 'as' keyword in the CLR

    - by Frank V
    I'm learning about design patterns and because of that I've ended using a lot of interfaces. One of my "goals" is to program to an interface, not an implementation. What I've found is that I'm doing a lot of casting or object type conversion. What I'd like to know is if there is a difference between these two methods of conversion: public interface IMyInterface { void AMethod(); } public class MyClass : IMyInterface { public void AMethod() { //Do work } // other helper methods.... } public class Implementation { IMyInterface _MyObj; MyClass _myCls1; MyClass _myCls2; public Implementation() { _MyObj = new MyClass(); // What is the difference here: _myCls1 = (MyClass)_MyObj; _myCls2 = (_MyObj as MyClass); } } If there is a difference, is there a cost difference or how does this affect my program? Hopefully this makes sense. Sorry for the bad example; it is all I could think of... Update: What is "in general" the preferred method? (I had a question similar to this posted in the 'answers'. I moved it up here at the suggestion of Michael Haren. Also, I want to thank everyone who's provided insight and perspective on my question.

  • SWIG_NewPointerObj and values always being nil

    - by Tom J Nowell
    I'm using SWIG to wrap C++ objects for use in lua, and Im trying to pass data to a method in my lua script, but it always comes out as 'nil' void CTestAI::UnitCreated(IUnit* unit){ lua_getglobal(L, "ai"); lua_getfield(L, -1, "UnitCreated"); swig_module_info *module = SWIG_GetModule( L ); swig_type_info *type = SWIG_TypeQueryModule( module, module, "IUnit *" ); SWIG_NewPointerObj(L,unit,type,0); lua_epcall(L, 1, 0); } Here is the lua code: function AI:UnitCreated(unit) if(unit == nil) then game:SendToConsole("I CAN HAS nil ?") else game:SendToConsole("I CAN HAS UNITS!!!?") end end unit is always nil. I have checked and in the C++ code, the unit pointer is never invalid/null I've also tried: void CTestAI::UnitCreated(IUnit* unit){ lua_getglobal(L, "ai"); lua_getfield(L, -1, "UnitCreated"); SWIG_NewPointerObj(L,unit,SWIGTYPE_p_IUnit,0); lua_epcall(L, 1, 0); } with identical results. Why is this failing? How do I fix it?

  • i integer does not +1 the 1st time

    - by Hwang
    I have a gallery where it will load an image after a previous image is loaded, so every time 'i' will +1 so that it could move to the next image. This code works fine on my other files, but I dunno why it doesn't work for the current file. Normally if I trace 'i' the correct will be 0,1,2,3,4,5,6... etc adding on till the limit, but this files its 'i' repeat the 1st number twice, only it continues to add 0,0,1,2,3,4,5,6...etc The code is completely the same with the other file I'm using, but I don't know why it just doesn't work here. The code does not seems to have any problem. Anyway i can work around this situation? private var i:uint=0; private function loadItem():void { if (i<myXMLList.length()) { loadedPic=myXMLList[i].thumbnails; galleryLoader = new Loader(); galleryLoader.load(new URLRequest(loadedPic)); galleryLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE,picLoaded); } else { adjustImage(); } } private function picLoaded(event:Event):void { var bmp=new Bitmap(event.target.content.bitmapData); bmp.smoothing=true; bmpArray.push(bmp); imagesArray[i].addChild(bmp); i++; loadItem(); }

  • EF in a UserControl can't see the app.config?

    - by Sven
    I just created a user control. This control also makes use of my static Entity Framework class to load two comboboxes. All is well and runs without a problem. Design and runtime are working. Then when I stop the application all the forms that contain my UserControl don't work any more in design time. I just see two errors: Error1: The specified named connection is either not found in the configuration, not intended to be used with the EntityClient provider, or not valid. Error 2: The variable ccArtikelVelden is either undeclared or was never assigned. (ccArtikelVelde is my UserControl) Runtime everything is still working My static EF Repositoy class: public class BSManagerData { private static BSManagerEntities _entities; public static BSManagerEntities Entities { get { if (_entities == null) _entities = new BSManagerEntities(); return _entities; } set { _entities = value; } } } Some logic happening in my UserControl to load the data in the comboboxes: private void LaadCbx() { cbxCategorie.DataSource = (from c in BSManagerData.Entities.Categories select c).ToList(); cbxCategorie.DisplayMember = "Naam"; cbxCategorie.ValueMember = "Id"; } private void cbxCategorie_SelectedIndexChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { cbxFabrikant.DataSource = from f in BSManagerData.Entities.Fabrikants where f.Categorie.Id == ((Categorie)cbxCategorie.SelectedItem).Id select f; cbxFabrikant.DisplayMember = "Naam"; cbxFabrikant.ValueMember = "Id"; } The only way to make my forms work again, design time, is to comment out the EF part in the UserControl (see above) and rebuild. It's very strange, everything is in the same assembly, same namespace (for the sake of simplicity). Anyone an idea?

  • Problems with Unity BuildUp Method

    - by Voice
    Hi everybody) I'm using Unity App Block for my project (version 1.2.0.0). I have a problem with Unity Container BuildUp method which I'm using for my ascx controls. Here is some code (that's pretty simple) public class BaseUserControl<T>:UserControl where T:class { protected override void OnInit(EventArgs e) { InjectDependencies(); base.OnInit(e); } protected virtual void InjectDependencies() { var context = HttpContext.Current; if (context == null) { return; } var accessor = context.ApplicationInstance as IContainerAccessor; if (accessor == null) { return; } var container = accessor.Container; if (container == null) { throw new InvalidOperationException("No Unity container found"); } container.BuildUp<T>(this as T); } } This method is called in base control for ascx controls in my solution. And here the property that should be injected in child control: [Dependency] private IStock Stock { get; set; } So after buildup Stock property is still empty. Resolve method works fine for IStock with the same container and configuration. I've tried buildup with simple test class with only one property IStock and got the same result. So what can be wrong with buildup?

  • How to manage lifecycle in a ViewGroup-derived class?

    - by Scott Smith
    I had a bunch of code in an activity that displays a running graph of some external data. As the activity code was getting kind of cluttered, I decided to extract this code and create a GraphView class: public class GraphView extends LinearLayout { public GraphView(Context context, AttributeSet attrs) { super(context, attrs); LayoutInflater inflater = (LayoutInflater) context.getSystemService(Context.LAYOUT_INFLATER_SERVICE); inflater.inflate(R.layout.graph_view, this, true); } public void start() { // Perform initialization (bindings, timers, etc) here } public void stop() { // Unbind, destroy timers, yadda yadda } . . . } Moving stuff into this new LinearLayout-derived class was simple. But there was some lifecycle management code associated with creating and destroying timers and event listeners used by this graph (I didn't want this thing polling in the background if the activity was paused, for example). Coming from a MS Windows background, I kind of expected to find overridable onCreate() and onDestroy() methods or something similar, but I haven't found anything of the sort in LinearLayout (or any of its inherited members). Having to leave all of this initialization code in the Activity, and then having to pass it into the view seemed like it defeated the original purpose of encapsulating all of this code into a reusable view. I ended up adding two additional public methods to my view: start() and stop(). I make these calls from the activity's onResume() and onPause() methods respectively. This seems to work, but it feels like I'm using duct tape here. Does anyone know how this is typically done? I feel like I'm missing something...

  • How do you mentally handle going from writing managed to non-managed code?

    - by Glenn Sandoval
    ~80% of the code I write is in C#. The other ~20% is in C++. Whenever I have to switch from C# to C++, it takes me quite a while to mentally "shift gears" to thinking in C++. I make simple mistakes using pointers and memory allocation that I would not have made when I was in university. Is this normal? Does anyone else experience something similar and if so, what do you do to cut down on the time this wastes?

  • Using Visual Studio to create web application in Sharepoint 2010

    - by bryan0010
    Hello, I am looking for pointers, examples, etc. to create a basic application in sharepoint 2010 using visual studio. The application would show a list on page 1 (driven by linq entities). When you click a row, it shows a details page. I've gone through the tutorials but could not find a basic crud-like example as explained above. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If I missed something in one of the tutorials, please let me know. To summarize, in a very generic way; I am looking for information on how to display two web application pages and have the user click a link or control to move through pages. Regards, Bryan

  • Why is the 'this' keyword not a reference type in C++ [closed]

    - by Dave Tapley
    Possible Duplicates: Why ‘this’ is a pointer and not a reference? SAFE Pointer to a pointer (well reference to a reference) in C# The this keyword in C++ gets a pointer to the object I currently am. My question is why is the type of this a pointer type and not a reference type. Are there any conditions under which the this keyword would be NULL? My immediate thought would be in a static function, but Visual C++ at least is smart enough to spot this and report static member functions do not have 'this' pointers. Is this in the standard?

  • Failed to specialize function template

I'm getting the following from Visual Studio 2008 error C2893: Failed to specialize function template 'void std::sort(_RanIt,_RanIt,_Pr)' The code is as follows main.cpp Database<> db; db.loadDatabase(); db.sortDatabase(sort_by_title()); Database.cpp void Database<C>::sortDatabase(const sort_by &s) { std::sort(db_.begin(), db_.end(), s); } And the function objects are defined as struct sort_by : public std::binary_function<const Media *, const Media *, bool> { virtual bool operator()(const Media *l, const Media *r) const = 0; }; struct sort_by_title : public sort_by { bool operator()(const Media *l, const Media *r) const { ... } }; ... What's the cure here? [Edit] Sorry, maybe I should have made the inheritance clear template <typename C = std::vector<Media *> > class Database : public IDatabase<C> [/Edit]
