  • Cached Jquery selector behavior that I do not understand

    - by gaoshan88
Given the following code why am I getting different values for a and b? I would have thought they would return the same thing: (function() { var a = $('#foo'); var Test = function(){ console.log(a); //outputs 'jQuery()' var b = $('#foo'); console.log(b); //outputs 'jQuery(select#foo)' which is what I want }; })(); This question stems from me trying to stick frequently used selectors into vars. Originally I was doing it in each method (like I did with var b in the above example) but then I found I needed to use the selectors in multiple methods so I moved the assignment out to be available (or so I thought) to all of the methods in that anonymous function. As you can see, it does not work. Why is this?

  • Does anyone know of a good free bulk upload tool for web apps?

    - by Ev
I have a web application in which a user has to upload images to a gallery. At the moment they need to upload one image at a time so it's pretty tedious. I'd like to implement a system where they could potentially drag and drop files into the browser, or select a folder to upload. Any ideas? Thanks in advance! (By the way; it's a .Net App if it makes a difference, but I was thinking most of the work would be happening client side so shouldn't matter) -Ev

  • Modifying DOM of a webpage

    - by Prashant Singh
The structure of a webpage is like this :- <div id='abc'> <div class='a'>Some contents here </div> <div class='b'>Some other contents< </div> </div> My aim is to add this after the class a in above structure. <div class='a'>Some other contents here </div> So that final structure looks like this :- <div id='abc'> <div class='a'>Some contents here </div> <div class='a'>Some other contents here </div> <div class='b'>Some other contents< </div> </div> Can there be a better way to do this using DOM properties. I was thinking of naive way of parsing the content and updating. Please comment if I am unclear in asking my doubt !

  • changing window.location without triggering refresh

    - by jdwyah
I have an AJAX form that submits GET requests. Because these are all GET requests these should be easily bookmark-able. Preferably I'd make my Ajax request, update the screen and then update window.location.href to be the URL for the new page. Unfortunately this reloads the page. Is there any way I can get around this? Basically I'd like the URL bar to be a permalink bar, but it needs to be able to change to keep up with the state of the page. window.location.hash is no good because that doesn't get sent to the server.

Thanks in advance!

    - by bensiu
Hi, I try to use ComboBox on FormPanel, it is defined like this: xtype: 'combo', name: 'Reasons', store: new Ext.data.ArrayStore({ id: 0, fields: [ 'myId', 'displayText' ], data: [ [ 1, 'Reason 1' ], [ 2, 'Second Reason' ], [ 3, 'Something else' ] ] }), typeAhead: false, mode: 'local', valueField: 'myId', displayField: 'displayText', allowBlank: false, editable: false, forceSelection: true I would like to act like a ordinary select element, when I have editable as false I not able to re-select anymore, when as true ( default ) I need to remove selection ( by backspace or delete ) in order to re-select. • qTip with jQuery dialogs

    - by MikeWyatt
I'm using qTip to show validation errors in a grid. The tooltip appears after a failed row save and doesn't disappear until the row is resaved or the changes are canceled. The problem with this is that opening a dialog while the tooltip is visible causes the tooltip to be rendered on top of the dialog. That is because the z-index is hard-coded to 6000+ for all tooltips, while jQuery dialogs are set to 1000+. I could fix this problem by changing the hard-coded value in qTip to <1000, but then tooltips fired from the dialog will appear behind the dialog. Is there anything I can do, aside from changing the qTip code or using a different tooltip library?

  • AJAX: Problems returning multiple variables

    - by fwaokda
    First off sorry if I'm missing something simple just started working with AJAX today. I have an issue where I'm trying to get information from my database, but different records have different amounts of values. For instance, each record has a "features" column. In the features column I store a string. (ex: Feature1~Feature2~Feature3~Feature4... ) When I'm building the object I take apart the string and store all the features into an array. Some objects can have 1 feature others can have up to whatever. So... how do I return this values back to my ajax function from my php page? Below is my ajax function that I was trying and I'll provide a link with my php file. [ next.php : http://pastebin.com/SY74jV7X ] $("a#next").click(function() { $.ajax({ type : 'POST', url : 'next.php', dataType : 'json', data : { nextID : $("a#next").attr("rel") }, success : function ( data ) { var lastID = $("a#next").attr("rel"); var originID = $("a#next").attr("rev"); if(lastID == 1) { lastID = originID; } else { lastID--; } $("img#spotlight").attr("src",data.spotlightimage); $("div#showcase h1").text(data.title); $("div#showcase h2").text(data.subtitle); $("div#showcase p").text(data.description); $("a#next").attr("rel", lastID); for(var i=0; i < data.size; i++) { $("ul#features").append("<li>").text(data.feature+i).append("</li>"); } /* for(var j=1; j < data.picsize; j++) { $("div.thumbnails ul").append("<li>").text(data.image+j).append("</li>"); } */ }, error : function ( XMLHttpRequest, textStatus, errorThrown) { $("div#showcase h1").text("An error has occured: " + errorThrown); } }); });

  • Toastr.js notifications as modal notfication

    - by Maxsteel
I know it's not what toastr (or toast notifs in general) are meant to be used for, but I want to use them as a modal notification. My idea is following. On toast show: toastr.options.onShown = function() { //Create an overlay on the entire page} Overlay: #overlay { background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.8); z-index: 999; position: absolute; left: 0; top: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%; display: none; } And on toast close: toastr.options.onHidden = function() { //make overlay go away } Also, I'm setting timeout of toast to 0 so it won't disappear by itself. Question: I want the toast notification to stay atop the overlay and not behind it as overlay will cover everything. How can I do it?

  • JS - Why is this hidden div not showing in IE?

    - by Dodi300
Hello. I've made a page which should show a div when the user clicks on a input text box. The div will contain more information about the required input, etc. The page works fine on FireFox and the div shows, but when using IE the div just doesn't show. It seems like I've tried everything and nothing has worked so far. This is the page. Maybe you could look at the source and see what I'm doing wrong? If you need me to upload the source as a text file, I can do that. Thanks for the help!

  • crossdomain cookie using iframe, how?

    - by vsync
I searched a lot on this topic, but didn't really found a solid answer to this. I need to set a cookie from any domain (out of my control), lets say "Domain B" to my main domain, lets say "Domain A", and be able to read the cookie also, without exiting Domain B. kinda like Facebook connect for websites, or Snap.com, and others of the sort. how it that done? If I look at lets say http://ajaxian.com/ I see Firecookie shows cookies from many domains being used on that website, and I really wanna know how it's achieved.
