Starting a browser from a textbox via Intent - Is http:// required?

Hi, I have the following code: /** Open a browser on the URL specified in the text box */ private void openBrowser() { Uri uri = Uri.parse(urlText.getText().toString()); Intent intent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_VIEW, uri); startActivity(intent); } When I input "http://www.google.com" to the textbox, it works fine. However, when I try something like "www.google.com" it crashes with: No Activity found to handle Intent { act=android.intent.action.VIEW dat=www.google.com } Am I using Uri wrong? Is there a way to extract full address from it? Or am I supposed to write code that adds http manually? e.g, if not starts with http://, add http://. Thanks!

C# Serial Communications - Received Data Lost

Hello. Received data in my C# application is getting lost due to the collector array being over-written, rather than appended. private void serialPort1_DataReceived(object sender, SerialDataReceivedEventArgs e) { try { pUartData_c = serialPort1.ReadExisting().ToCharArray(); bUartDataReady_c = true; } catch ( System.Exception ex ) { MessageBox.Show(ex.Message, "Error", MessageBoxButtons.OK, MessageBoxIcon.Error); } } In this example pUartData_c is over-written every time new data is received. On some systems this is not a problem because the data comes in quickly enough. However, on other systems data in the receive buffer is not complete. How can I append received data to pUartData_c, rather than over-write it. I am using Microsoft Visual C# 2008 Express Edition. Thanks.

How to batch retrieve documents with mongoDB?

Hello everyone, I have an application that queries data from a mongoDB using the mongoDB C# driver something like this: public void main() { foreach (int i in listOfKey) { list.add(getObjectfromDB(i); } } public myObject getObjFromDb(int primaryKey) { document query = new document(); query["primKey"] = primaryKey; document result= mongo["myDatabase"]["myCollection"].findOne(query); return parseObject(result); } On my local (development) machine to get 100 object this way takes less than a second. However, I recently moved the database to a server on the internet, and this query takes about 30 seconds to execute for the same number of object. Furthermore, looking at the mongoDB log, it seems to open about 8-10 connections to the DB to perform this query. So what I'd like to do is have the query the database for an array of primaryKeys and get them all back at once, then do the parsing in a loop afterwards, using one connection if possible. How could I optimize my query to do so? Thanks, --Michael

Android Out of memory regarding png image

I have a jpg image in my app that shows correctly. In my listview i'd like to make the image more transparent so it is easier to see the text. I changed the image to a png format and altered it's opacity in GIMP. Now that the new image is in the app drawable folder. How do I set a value to the Session in asp.net on an onClick event of a normal htmlElement?

I need to make a Function that receives a Session Key and a Session Value and call this function on a normal HTML onClick event. When this function is called the Session variable is assigned the Key I sent with the Value I sent. I am in the midst of converting a VB library to C#. One of my methods has the following signature in VB: Private Shared Sub FillOrder(ByVal row As DataRowView, ByRef o As Order) In C# I converted it to: private static void FillOrder(DataRowView row, ref Order o) From my constructor inside my Order class, I am calling the FillOrder() method like so: DataView dv = //[get the data] if (dv.Count > 0) { FillOrder(dv[0], this); } In VB, this works: Dim dv As DataView = '[get data]' If dv.Count > 0 Then FillOrder(dv.Item(0), Me) End If However, in VS10 in the C# file I am getting a red squiggle under this call with the following error: The best overloaded method match for [the method] has some invalid arguments This was working code in VB. What am I doing wrong?

Im kinda stuck with using a set with a pointer delegate. my code is as follows: void Graph::addNodes (NodeSet& nodes) { for (NodeSet::iterator pos = nodes.begin(); pos != nodes.end(); ++pos) { addNode(*pos); } } Here NodeSet is defined as: typedef std::set NodeSet; The above piece of code works perfectly on my windows machine, but when i run the same piece of code on a MAC, it gives me the following error: no matching function for call to 'Graph::addNode(const boost::shared_ptr&)' FYI, Node_ptr is of type: typedef boost::shared_ptr Node_ptr; can somebody plz tell me why this is happening?

However, no callback is registered through the ApplicationListener events I setup in java. I used the code listed in http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1460193/set-default-file-association-mac-os-x-java-package-maker-installer to do the file association, and the file association itself appears fine, but it seems as if it is the application stub trying to launch the file, and thus fails. Ensuring all waiting threads complete

I'm building a system where the progress of calling threads is dependent on the state of two variables. One variable is updated sporadically by an external source (separate from the client threads) and multiple client threads block on a condition of both variables. The system is something like this TypeB waitForB() { // Can be called by many threads. synchronized (B) { while (A <= B) { B.wait(); } A = B; return B; { } void updateB(TypeB newB) { // Called by one thread. synchronized (B) { B.update(newB); B.notifyAll(); // All blocked threads must receive new B. } } I need all the blocked threads to receive the new value of B once it has been updated. But the problem is once a single thread finishes and updates A, the waiting condition becomes true again so some of the other threads become blocked and don't receive the new value of B. Is there a way of ensuring that only the last thread that was blocked on B updates A, or another way of getting this behaviour?

I have this generic method for saving or updating objects ... protected void saveOrUpdate(Object obj) { final Session session = sessionFactory.getCurrentSession(); session.saveOrUpdate(obj); } You can assume that every argument, "obj," will have a member field that is marked with the "@Id" annotation. I would like to change the return type to return an Object that represents the persisted object in the database (meaning if "obj" didn't contain an id before, what is returned is the database object with a populated id. What is the fastest way to do this given my versioning and generic constraints?

Locating the UIView that UITableView scrolls over

Hi all, I'm working on trying to obtain the UIView that UITableView scrolls over, if scrolling is enabled. Typically, the background is white, and if you push the UITableView out of its bounds, you'll see a background. I'm trying to set this background to a UIColor of blackColor. I can't seem to find the appropriate one to tag. I've tried the following code in my UIViewController: - (void)loadView { [super loadView]; UITableView *aTableView = [[[UITableView alloc] initWithFrame:self.view.bounds style:UITableViewStylePlain] autorelease]; [aTableView setScrollEnabled:YES]; [self.view setBackgroundColor:[UIColor blackColor]]; [self.view addSubview:aTableView]; self.tableView = aTableView; } The color still stays white. How to tell a UITableView to preload all Rows?

Is there a way to tell a UITableView to preload all rows? The tableView is supposed to show several comments (up to 80 comments). So my CommentCell uses a Setter to adapt the cell to a specific comment. -(void)setComment:(Comment *)newComment { if (newComment != comment) { [comment release]; comment = [newComment retain]; /* * set the cells view variables here */ } } This specific setter takes quite a bunch of processing resources and scrolling gets kinda laggy. I am using a comment-specific reuseIdentifier instead of a static cellIdentifier when calling dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier: in order to assure, that "newComment" equals the old "comment". And in fact this does work great when scrolling over cells which have already been loaded. But when scrolling through the comments for the first time, it still lags like hell. Which leads me to my question: Is there a way to tell the tableview to preload all cells? (which I doubt) or Do I have to implement my own cache instead of relying on "dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:"?

IPhone SDK - Vibration triggered by Thread

Hi, I'm currently working on an IPhone App that should make the phone vibrate if a special event occurs. The checks to trigger the alert is done in a thread. Unfortunately the phone won't vibrate if I call AudioServicesPlaySystemSound(kSystemSoundID_Vibrate); from inside the thread. (It works fine if I call this in my "viewDidAppear" method). I even tried to do a callback from inside the thead like this: inside Thread: [self performSelectorOnMainThread:@selector(doAlarm) withObject:nil waitUntilDone:true]; -(void)doAlarm { AudioServicesPlaySystemSound(kSystemSoundID_Vibrate); } which has the same result: No vibration on the phone. How do I make the phone vibrate from inside a thread ?? Thanks in advance

Compiler reordering around mutex boundaries?

Suppose I have my own non-inline functions LockMutex and UnlockMutex, which are using some proper mutex - such as boost - inside. How will the compiler know not to reorder other operations with regard to calls to the LockMutex and UnlockMutex? It can not possibly know how will I implement these functions in some other compilation unit. void SomeClass::store(int i) { LockMutex(_m); _field = i; // could the compiler move this around? UnlockMutex(_m); } ps: One is supposed to use instances of classes for holding locks to guarantee unlocking. I have left this out to simplify the example.

hello first of all i'm kinda new to C# I'm trying to do something like this in a C# winforms application when my app starts, a form starts minimized in the system tray. when i double click it, it opens and sends a request to a qpid broker for some info. then a message is sent back, and received in a listener in my app (i'm not sure code is relevant but i'll post it anyway) namespace MyApp { public class MyListener : IMessageListener { public void MessageTransfer(IMessage m) { //do stuff with m } } } what i'm trying to do is populate a listbox that's in that form with the message received in that function, but i have no idea how to communicate with that specific form from the MessageTransfer function

apache commons http client efficiency

I use apache commons http client to send data via post every second, is there a way to make the following code more efficient?
