  Hi, I have a simple function which takes an array of characters as an argument, and converts all the characters to lower case. However, I get a weird access violation error.   For example, let's say this is my abstract class: abstract class A{ int x; int y; void foo(A fooMe); } ...and B and C are two classes which extend A. What I want is for B to only be able to call foo() on other Bs, and for C to only be able to call foo() on other Cs. But I want this to be out of the hands of the programmer who's extending my A class - that is, I want a way to ensure this functionality within As code alone. What can I do? (If possible) I'd like to avoid any hack or generics solution that's too messy - I still want foo to be able to be called like this, for example: B b=new B(); B bb=new B(); bb.foo(b);

  I'm following a guide (http://www.jsparrowhawk.com/blog/?p=75) on how to use the As3IsoLib library. It seems his examples are a little erroneous at times. I'm at the part of creating a sprite, assigning it an image and then rendering.   I want to disable inlining for a particular function. What the compiler does for everything else should be as specified in the project properties. I found a page on a forum which suggested the following: #pragma auto_inline(off) void func() { } #pragma auto_inline() The author suggested that calling auto_inline() with no arguments will set the compiler to revert to doing whatever the default action was before the call to auto_inline(off). Can anyone confirm that this works for visual studio 2008? I ask because the VS2008 documentation makes no mention at all of what happens if you call this function with no arguments.

  Prior to .net 4.0, I implemented a solution using named data slots in System.Threading.Thread. Now, in .net 4.0, there is the idea of ThreadLocal. How does ThreadLocal usage compare to named data slots? Does the ThreadLocal value get inherited by children threads? Is the idea that ThreadLocal is a simplified version of using named data slots? An example of some stuff using named data slots follows. When they submit, I have a jQuery callback to serialize all ids. I want to stick those ids into an http request parameter called, "ids" so that I can grab them easily. I figured I could do the following var ids = $("#downloadall").serializeArray(); Then I would need to take each of the ids and add them to a request param called ids. But is there a "standard" way to do this? Like using jQuery?

Even when i am trying to remove newline charactersets of substring the first 3 char there is no effect on the string. What can be done here?   I'm having problem displaying UIImage in UIImageView. I looked all over stackoverflow for similar questions, but none of the fixes helped me.   I have created a php webpage. I now want to create a launcher application in android phone, it simply opens the browser with the url "http://<mywebsite>/m". I use uri intent to launch the browser in onCreate function. public void onCreate(...) { .... startActivity(new Intent(Intent.ACTION_VIEW, new Uri(http://<mywebsite>/m))); ... } I execute this program in my G1 phone (Cyan Mod 5).   Hi, I have followed some advices I got here today and would need a bit more help now: I have an user control with login logic. In mainForm I am using this: private void Form1_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { LoginScreen login = new MainMenu(); login.Parent = this; login.Dock = DockStyle.Fill; login.Show(); } But I guess it is not modal and thus does not stop the original Form application. Sure I would need the main Form to do not continue until the login form is closed (and login sucessfull). Would using an event correct? Let login object to raise an event that login was successfull and let the MainForm handle it - run the app?
