• How to get the Dash and HUD to appear. (and stop Unity spewing error messages.)

  I just installed Ubuntu 12.04 on my wifes Dell Inspiron 1501, which uses an R300 ATI graphics chip. Neither the Dash or HUD appear when pushing the appropriate key. When I try unity --reset & in the terminal, I see that over and over it's spitting out: r300: CS space validation failed. (not enough memory?) Skipping rendering. This is just after starting Ubuntu with no apps open, so I find it hard to believe that just rendering the Dash / HUD is completely blowing out the VRAM. • How can I solve display glitches and poor performance with ATI fglrx driver on my ThinkPad X100e?

  Hi all, I noticed that video performance on my Thinkpad X100e was very poor compared to Windows 7, so I installed the ATI fglrx proprietary drivers by using the "Additional Drivers" dialogue box. The system has an ATI Radeon Mobility HD 3200 chip. The result of installing the drivers is pretty devastatingly negative, with symptoms such as skewed content in windows, browser tabs and text boxes failing to refresh when their content changes. In fact, please excuse typos in this post, because I can't really see what I am typing. :) I also notice that HD video playback performance is no better - perhaps even worse - than prior to installing the drivers. • Menu bar and launcher missing in new installation of ubuntu 13.04

  I have just installed ubuntu 13.04 on my ThinkPad laptop. I am missing the launcher and upper bar. I only found references to the same problem for upgrades, so I tried everything written here, here and here with no success. However, referring to the second link, I ran ccsm and found my Ubuntu Unity Plugin unchecked. Checking it required to also enable the OpenGL and so I did. But, apparently I am unable to enable the OpenGL. Trying to enable it manually...and the checkbox gets automatically unchecked after few seconds. Please help. Update: I have Intel graphics driver, maybe the problem is specifically with it?. I also tried running ccsm after logging using CTRL+ALT+F1 like given here. I was able to enable OpenGL and the Ubuntu Unity Plugin there, but still, no effect on my display, also after reboot.

• DRIconf in Ubuntu 64x plus ATI GPU or something more?

  I've been trying to get Call of Duty 2 to work in Wine in Ubuntu. It gives me a black screen. So I tried the fix suggested by the wine apphq and downloaded DRIconf. Funny thing is that it can't find my direct rendering device. "Could not detect any configurable direct-rendering capable devices. DRIconf will be started in expert mode" When I enter into it in Expert Mode is just errors out anyway. fglrxinfo gives me: display: :0 screen: 0 OpenGL vendor string: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. OpenGL renderer string: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 Series OpenGL version string: 3.3.11627 Compatibility Profile Context That shows me my driver is installed correctl,y right? World of Goo which is Linux native and requires direct rendering works like a charm. So I'm wondering, is there some other workaround? Is there a bigger issue? Does me running 64-bit affect it at all?

  Estamos en la segunda jornada de OpenWorld 2012. La sesión ha comenzado con la presentación de Mark Hurd, quien después de su intervención, ha ofrecido una rueda de prensa multitudinaria. Es probable que más de 80 o 90 periodistas estuviesen presentes en la sala. El presidente de Oracle nos ha presentado una muy buena síntesis sobre la estrategia de la compañía, que básicamente está basada en cuatro pilares. He aquí un breve resumen: 1. Ofrecer los mejores productos y soluciones en cada una de las capas tecnológicas. Es decir, los mejores productos de almacenamiento de información, los mejores servidores, la mejor base de datos… todos ellos basados en estándares de la industria, lo que favorece la interoperabilidad con los productos de otros fabricantes, si esa es la elección del cliente. 2. Integrar los productos desde la fase de diseño y desarrollo para ofrecer a los clientes soluciones que proporcionen un rendimiento extremo. Los mayores exponentes de esta estrategia son los Engineered Systems (sistemas de ingeniería conjunta), que incluyen productos estrella como Exadata, Exalogic, o Exalitycs. Al combinar las mejores capacidades de los productos Oracle e integrarlos verticalmente, se consiguen los siguientes beneficios. Rendimiento extremo de las soluciones tecnológicas. Por ejemplo, la última versión de Exadata, presentada ahora, ofrece una velocidad hasta 100 veces mayor que la anterior. Reducción de costes. Los sistemas integrados permiten reducir la necesidad de espacio, el tiempo de instalación e integración y los costes de mantenimiento. Su mayor rendimiento también se traduce en una menor necesidad de inversión en infraestructura. Simplificación de la gestión y el mantenimiento. La ventaja de la propuesta de Oracle es que se utiliza la misma tecnología para la cloud pública o la privada, de forma que los clientes tengan facilidad para escoger qué aplicaciones mantendrán en un sistema público, cuáles en un sistema privado, etc. La máxima interoperabilidad permite, además, trasnferir aplicaciones de unas modalidades a otras sin problemas. 4. Aplicaciones sectoriales. Oracle está apostando fuertemente por el desarrollo de aplicaciones específicas para los diferentes sectores de actividad. Así, Oracle proporciona soluciones concretas para Banca y Finanzas, Distribución, Logística, Sector Público, Telecomunicaciones y un largo etcétera. Tras sus palabras preliminares hubo una interesante ronda de preguntas. No es posible hacer un resumen de todas ellas, pero me quedo con un mensaje que Mark ha repetido en un par de ocasiones: Oracle quiere seguir creciendo en todos los mercados en los que opera y se trata de una estrategia para crecer.   Hi All, I am planning to develop an iphone app which makes use of image filters like blurring, sharpening,etc. I noticed that there are few approaches for this one, Use openGL ES. I even found an example code on apple iphone dev site. How easy is openGL for somebody who has never used it? Can the image filters be implemented using the openGL framework? There is a Quartz demo as well posted on apple iphone dev site. Has anybody used this framework for doing image processing? How is this approach compared to openGL framework? Don't use openGL and Quartz framework. Basically access the raw pixels from the image and do the manipulation myself. Make use of any custom built image processing libraries like this one. Do you know of any other libraries like this one? Can anybody provide insights/suggestions on which option is the best? Your opinions are highly appreciated. Thanks!

(Both aren't really but one has to be more) Who would be the possibly fastest in compiled state? (There is no BF compiler out there as far as I know but it wouldn't be hard writing one I suppose) Which of the both has the better code length/code action ratio? What I mean is If you get to distracted by the, compared to Brainf*ck, improved readability of assembler, just think of writing plain binary/machine code as what assembler assembles to. Both languages are so basic that it should be possible to answer the question(s) in a rather objective view, I hope.

I have multiple subfolders (http://www.site.com/es and http://www.site.com/de) that each have a respective .htaccess file.   I'm trying to setup a Git server on Windows 7, using CopSsh, PuTTY and msysgit. I'm having problems cloning a repository using ssh. If I use a regular directory path, it works: $ git clone ~/vc/git/depot/test.git/ /c/dev/es/app Initialized empty Git repository in c:/dev/es/app/.git/ warning: You appear to have cloned an empty repository. Ssh, doesn't work. • Initialize window code Mac OS X

  I'm currently reading "the red book" for learning OpenGL properly, and in one of the first examples, the author writes a line that says "InitializeAWindowPlease();" as a place holder for the code that will make a window to draw the OpenGL content in. Since I'm using Xcode for my programing, I know that I "get" a window to work with automatically (and that I have to make my own OpenGL view in interfacebuilder). How can I make this with pure code? I'm trying to learn programming, and I'm not to happy about taking "shortcuts" all the time. How can I make a window to draw my openGL stuff in? With Objective-C and C code I would love to see it. My goal is that I can make it without opening interface builder at all:)

• Git pull error: unable to create temporary sha1 filename

  Hi everyone, I've got a small git repo setup with the only real purpose to be able to develop locally on several machines (work, home, laptop). Thus I have one branch and I commit/push once I leave a computer, pull once I sit down at the next. Has worked fine, up to now that is. Now when I pull on my 'live test' machine, I get the following: remote: Counting objects: 38, done. remote: Compressiremote: ng objects: 100% (20/20), done. remote: Total 20 (delta 17), reused 0 (delta 0) error: unable to create temporary sha1 filename .git/objects/ed: File exists fatal: failed to write object fatal: unpack-objects failed Searching around the net the only real answer I could find was the following: http://marc.info/?l=git&m=122720741928774&w=2 which basically states that this is a bogus error that's on top of the pile and thus says nothing about what really is wrong. Where do I go from here to find out what is wrong? Edit: Removed the local copy and re-cloned

  I have a number resx files as follows, Resources-es-ES.resx Resources-es.resx Resources.resx (english defaults) They are compiled into an assembly and I use them for localising my web pages by simply referring to Resources.Ok for example. My question is whether there is a way to find out the "rendered culture", e.g. if I come into the site with my CurrentUICulture set to "fr-fr" for example it will fall back to using the English resources and I'm wondering how to get that information to help me with some JavaScript localisation.

  I've been working on this one error for a few hours so I thought I'd pick the brains of some pros. I am getting a null pointer exception at the modelData.add(i, es) method. I know from debugging that es isn't null.
