    What would the steps be to creating an app that connected to YouTube's XML API. Here is my setup currently but it is not working. App Delegate creates object "YTXMLParser" App Delegate calls [parser prepAndPrase]; In Prep and Parse the app initiates a NSURLConnection The app downloads the XML Data using the NSURLConnection well appeneding to NSMutableData The app parses the data with NSXMLParser At the end of each "entry" the app adds the current dictionary to the class. At the beginning of each "entry" the app creates an instance of a dictionary. Here's where i'm stuck. How do I get this data back to my app delegate?

  • Trying to trigger php script, get EXC_BAD_ACCESS iPhone development

The only thing left is to display it in a Table view. The data i want to display is stored in a Mutable array and i can see the data in console and this is in app delegate.   • Problem when use compiled .A with simulator mode

    Hi all, i have a lib .a that run only in device mode. My sdk vers is 4.2 with xcode 3.2.x. In simulator, compile correctle with no warning and no errors, but in run mode (simulator) it crash with this error: Detected an attempt to call a symbol in system libraries that is not present on the iPhone: strtod$UNIX2003 called from function pj_init in image MyAPP. If you are encountering this problem running a simulator binary within gdb, make sure you 'set start-with-shell off' first Program received signal: “SIGABRT”. I try to clean, rebuild and set "set start-with-shell off" from terminal in this way: cd ~ echo '' >> .gdbinit echo 'set start-with-shell 0' >> .gdbinit Restarted all, but nothing. The problem don't wont to resolve! Is there any tag or property that i forgotted to set in the options? In other linker flag is there only "-ObjC". It's very important to solve this issue... any idea please? thanks, A EDIT: It's my lib, compiled in simulator mode! EDIT: It run only with Simulator 4.1. Don't work with iphone 4.0, 4.2 and ipad 3.2 (all simulator).

    I have two entities in core data (call them entityOne and entityTwo). I have a entityOne<---entityTwo relationship between them. I am now trying to code an NSPredicate to fetch entityTwo objects on the following basis: Fetch entityTwo objects that have a relationship with a specified entityOne object. Filter out those entityTwo objects which have no value for one of their attributes. I am best doing both of these in an NSPredicate or is there a better way? I am trying the following: NSPredicate *predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"(attribute <> "") AND (relationship == entityOne"]; [request setPredicate:predicate]; Any pointers on coding great fully received.

  • Downloading large files with AFNetworking

    I'm trying to implement downloading of a large file and show to user current progress, but block in: -[AFURLConnectionOperation setDownloadProgressBlock:] returns incorrect bytesRead and totalBytesRead values (they are smaller than they should be). For example: If I have a 90MB file and when it downloads completely, latest block invocation in setDownloadProgressBlock: gives me totalBytesRead value about 30MB. On other side, if file is 2MB large, latest block invocation gives correct totalBytesRead 2MB value. AFNetworking is updated to the latest version from github. If AFNetworking can't do it correctly, what solution can I use? Edit: I've determined that even if file is not downloaded completely (and this happens every time with relatively big file) AFNetworking calls success block in: -[AFHTTPRequestOperation setCompletionBlockWithSuccess:failure] I asked a similar question here about this situation, but didn't get any answers. I can check in code downloaded and real file sizes, but AFNetworking has no API for continuation of partial download.

  • Getting a UIImage from MySQL using PHP and jSON

    I'm developing a little news reader that retrieves the info from a website by doing a POST request to a URL. The response is a jSON object with the unread-news. E.g. the last news on the App has a timeStamp of "2013-03-01". When the user refreshes the table, it POSTS "domain.com/api/api.php?newer-than=2013-03-01". The api.php script goes to the MySQL database and fetches all the news posted after 2013-03-01 and prints them json_encoded. This is // do something to get the data in an array echo $array_of_fetched_data; for example the response would be [{"title": "new app is coming to the market", "text": "lorem ipsum dolor sit amet...", image: XXX}] the App then gets the response and parses it, obtaining an NSDictionary and adds it to a Core Data db. NSDictionary* obtainedNews = [NSJSONSerialization JSONObjectWithData:responseData options:kNilOptions error:&error]; My question is: How can I add an image to the MySQL database, store it, pass it using jSON trough a POST HTTP Request and then interpret it as an UIImage. It's clear that to store an UIImage in CoreData, they must be transform into/from NSData. How can I pass the NSData back and forth to a MySQL db using php and jSON? How should I upload the image to the db? (Serialized, as a BLOB, etc)

  • How can I make a UIPickerView like a UIDatePicker?

    I have a custom UIViewController subclass which acts as Datasource and Delegate for a UIPickerView which I would like to serve two different purposes, as each are simple enough, and don't really warrant separate files. One operation must be as a custom picker, and this works fine. However, for the other operation, I want it to act just like a UIDatePicker. The problem is, UIDatePicker is a subclass of UIControl, not UIPickerView. Is there any sort of enum value I can set in a method (or other way) that will set the UIPickerView to act as a date picker? Or do I have to make two completely different classes and use them differently (pain in the ass)?

Here my question: I want to put a space between the my PageViews, but when it change the page it show the space between the views in the next page. The scroll must stop after the space when I change the page. Someone can help me?     Why am I getting an "out of scope" error whenever I try to access the "url" variable in this loop? for(NSString *url in self.winnerImageURLs) { [mediaItemString appendFormat:@"{\"type\":\"image\",\"src\":\"%@\",\"href\":\"%@\"},", url, url]; } The class of very item in the "self.winnerImageURLs" NSMutableArray comes back as NSCFString so I'm not sure what the dealio is here.     I am adding a UILabel as a subview to a UIView and sometime later I want to hide it. It is assigned to a variable but I don't think setting the variables property Hidden after it's been added to the view will work (well it doesn't seem to anyway). Is there a way to loop through the subviews in a view and then find the one that has a specific tag or is of type UILabel that I could then remove?

  • Storing and retrieving CGPoints inside NSMutableArray

    I've looked through countless questions on here and elsewhere and cannot for the life of me figure out what I'm doing wrong. I'm trying to store an array of CGPoints as NSValues inside of an NSMutableArray named points like so on the iPhone: NSValue *point = [NSValue valueWithCGPoint:firstTouch]; NSLog(@"NSValue *point = %@", point); [points addObject:point]; NSLOG OUTPUT NSValue *point = NSPoint: {120, 221} Everything is going smooth converting from the CGPoint to NSValue. But when I try to retrieve the point I get nothing. NSValue *getPoint = [points objectAtIndex:0]; CGPoint thePoint = [getPoint CGPointValue]; NSLog(@"Point = %@", NSStringFromCGPoint(thePoint)); NSLOG OUTPUT Point = {0, 0} The points should be the same but I'm getting a null result. For testing purposes this is happening in the touchesBegan method. Does anyone have any idea where I'm going wrong? Thanks in advance.

After that while running apps, It is giving three erros that is no such files, they are #import "SBJSON.h" #import "NSObject+SBJSON.h" #import "NSString+SBJSON.h" When i select framework, Two of the files containing in it Headers and PrivateHeaders is red in colour.     This is probably a dumb question, but I can't find the answer in the docs. Did the "Done" button on the pop-up keyboard always cause the keyboard to disappear? I see a lot of code around the web like this: - (BOOL)textFieldShouldReturn:(UITextField *)theTextField { [theTextField resignFirstResponder]; return YES; } When I press the "Done" button, the keyboard pops down and the UITextField resigns first responder. I'm presuming that pressing the "Done" button didn't used to cause a UITextField to resignFirstResponder, but that behavior changed at some time. I'm debugging on OS 3.0 - 3.1.3

    Writing an iphone app, and I'm getting my data from a REST API that returns JSON. My problem is, some of the data has special characters embedded and Im getting errors. Example: MartÌn Petite-RiviËre-Saint-FranÁois Here is my current code: NSString *jsonString = [[NSString alloc] initWithData:receivedData encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]; NSMutableArray *tempResults = [[[jsonString JSONValue] objectForKey:@"getRegionResortsLastUpdatedResponse"] objectForKey:@"return"]; Whenever the data has special characters in it "jsonString" return "(null)", otherwise everything works fine. Is this something I can handle on my end, or does the API need to be modified to output the character codes?

  • iPhone tableview: titleForHeaderInSection derived from array

    I have a tableview that is populated by an array. Currently the tableview has no grouping. What I would like to do is check a value of each array object, such as State, and group all the CA items together, all the OR items together, etc. Then, assign those groups a title. The array is dynamic, and will grow and get new values in the future, so I can't hardcode titles, I would like these to somehow come from my initial array. Currently I am using the following, but it does not take into account sorting of the array, or if I removed all of the items in the array that have to do with California. - (NSString *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView titleForHeaderInSection:(NSInteger)section { if (section == 0) { return @"California"; } else if (section == 1) { return @"Washington"; } else { return @"Utah"; } }//end tableView So, I am confusing myself as to how this would be possible.
