  • Free alternative to Audio Hijack Pro?

    I'd like to record what I hear coming out of the main audio jack on my Mac. Nothing fancier than that. I'm aware of Audio Hijack Pro but that really does much more than I'm looking for and comes with a steep price tag. If it's the only tool that can do the job that's fine but I was hoping to find something that simply captured all audio coming from the computer and dumped it to a file. Thanks in advance!

  • Show command prompt on reboot

    Hi, In one of my linux machines, when i give reboot command at the shell command prompt then press enter, i get another command prompt and then the system reboots. $reboot $ But in one of my office Linux machines, when i give the reboot command, it suddenly reboots without showing another shell command prompt What could be the reason for this? I need the first behavior to be present in my office machine also. Kindly tell me where i should tweak my office machine. Thanks

  • Is Tripp Lite a trusted brand for a UPS?

    I am looking to buy a rack mounted UPS that can take in 208V power and serve up 120V power. A basic APC unit that can do this is $4k. I have found a Tripp Lite model that will work for $2.5k. Is the extra $1.5k for the APC just for the brand? Or will the Tripp Lite serve me just as well? Thanks!

    I would like to write things like this in /etc/apt/sources.list: deb sftp://[email protected]/path other stuff When I try this, apt-get complains that there is no sftp method for apt: # apt-get update E: The method driver /usr/lib/apt/methods/sftp could not be found. Has anyone written a patch to add the sftp method for apt? All I could find in Google was this spec for Ubuntu. Thanks for your help.

    I am trying to save audio using mplayer from a live http stream. saving audio is successful. If there is no live stream playing it does not exit automatically.     I know in TextMate I can go to preferences - advanced - folder references and play with the regex pattern to remove certain types of files and folders by default. I heard that if you have an existing project, however, and chance these, the project is not affected. From a similar but different angle, I am interested to know if I can exclude certain types of files, say anything named "index.html" from an existing project while not changing the global scope.
