  • OAS log files filling up hard drive

    We've had issues with log files for Oracle Application Server filling up the hard drive on our server. The files are in the /network/admin folder and are named server.log_XXXXX.trc and client.log_XXXXX.trc where XXXXX are 5 digits. The files are typically anywhere from 1-2MB in size but can be up to 100MB and thousands of them are created at a rate of about 5-10 per minute. Does anyone know how to disable these logs? Thanks!

  • Extract specific files in a tar archive using a wildcard

    I'm tring for a script to extract only jpeg pictures from an archive containing maky kind of files. To do so I tried first to use: tar -xf MyTar.tar *.jpg but it failed (*.jpg not found) and suggest me to use "--wildcard". So I tried tar -xf MyTar.tar --wildcard *.jpg I did that, but then the same error and a different warning saying yo me that the option "--wildcard" is ambigious. I've been over the manuel pages for tar, but didn't find a clue about the problem thanks

I went to www.centos.org but could see any kernel download only the complete distribution is available to download. I just want the kernel. Kernels on the www.kernels.org are the vanilla kernels.   • iMac memory limit

    I have an iMac that was from the first generation of aluminum iMacs. The reported model is "iMac 7,1". This iMac's manual says I can put 2 2GB modules, but when this manual was made we don't have modules with more than 2GB and also we had Leopard then, that I suppose can handle less memory than Snow leopard. Today we have 4GB modules, so can I put two 4GB modules and make it 8GB? thanks.

However this only works for virtual and the model that I made the image on how can i extend compatibility to another device? I am just using it for a vdisk that I can then also use as a virtual device but I wasnt the vdisk to be available over multiple devices. Using Win 7 on the client. Thanks

  • Problem with slow hard disk

    We bought some new PCs in my company with the new iCore 7 and 8GB memory and the following hard disk: WESTERN DIGITAL WD8000AARS 800GB CAVIAR GREEN SATA2 The problem we have is that after installing windows XP64 SP2 the write speed of the hard disk is extremely low!. The windows system monitor shows that the Average Disk queue length is always at 100% and a winzip extract of 350mb takes about 8min. Is there any idea on where to start looking for the cause of that? Thanks

    I installed postfix on my ubuntu vps. The server is hosting mysite.com. I set the MX records for mysite.com to use google apps for email: ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM ... I am using php's mail() function, and emails are working. Google apps has a 500 email / day limit. Am I using this limit? I'm not sure what postfix is doing exactly. Thanks

  • recently used programs stopped updating Vista Home Premium 64

    For some reason my list of recently used programs has stopped updating. Any program that I "pin" to the start menu remains, but where you would normally expect to see the recent programs is just blank space. What setting do you think could have changed?     Hi , I did the date command and it gave the following output root@localhost:~$ date Thu Dec 30 14:19:47 UTC 2010 Then i modified the date using date -s command whichn gave the following output root@localhost:~$ date -s "12/30/2010 JST 14:19:47" Thu Dec 30 05:19:47 UTC 2010 I noticed that the time changed to 9 hours behind UTC time to show exactly the JST time. But timezone as you can see is still showing UTC. Why is it showing the correct time and incorrect timezone? Thanks

    O.K I am trying to do the following very simple command and it is failing as follows... mv '/home/admin/Downloads/folder1' '/home/admin/MyLibrary/MyVideos/TV/folder1/' mv: cannot move `/home/admin/Downloads/folder1' to a subdirectory of itself, `/home/admin/MyLibrary/MyVideos/TV/folder1/' The destination is NOT a subfolder of the source - why is it giving me this error?? Linux version is a custom version of Red Hat on a NAS box. Thanks
