• How to display popup from code-behind in ASP.net ?

  hello I wonder how it would be possible to launch a series of popups, containing a form, from code-behind. I possess a list of objects 'Products' and I wish I could change one property (quantity) of each "product". Here's how I build my list (normally I use a database).   I'm attempting to send a message to a remote private queue from an error queue with powershell. The code I use looks like this: $msg = $src_q.Peek() $msg.Label = GetLabelWithoutFailedQueue($msg) $msg.UseDeadLetterQueue = $true $msg.UseTracing = $true $msg.AcknowledgeType = [System.Messaging.AcknowledgeTypes]::NegativeReceive $msg.TimeToBeReceived = [System.TimeSpan]::FromSeconds(10) $msg.TimeToReachQueue = [System.TimeSpan]::FromSeconds(10) $tx = new-object System.Messaging.MessageQueueTransaction $tx.Begin() $dest_q.Send($msg, $tx) $tx.Commit() The message keeps on appearing on the transactional dead letter queue with the class: "The time-to-reach-queue has elapsed." Anyone's got any idea what could trigger such an error? The queue definitely exists- I do manage to peek it. Also, the reason I get the message from the error queue by peeking is just for testing purposes; I have tried doing the same thing with Receive and the result is the same.

What is the best way to create a User object that contains all of the users details, and persist it across the entire site for the duration of their visit? I Was trying this in my Global.asax, but I'm not really happy using Session variables. I'd rather have a single object with all the details inside. • Unit tests logged (or run) multiple times

  I have this simple test: protected readonly ILog logger = LogManager.GetLogger(MethodBase.GetCurrentMethod().ReflectedType); private static int count = 0; [Test] public void TestConfiguredSuccessfully() { logger.Debug("in test method" + count++); } log4net is set up like this: [TestFixtureSetUp] public void SetUp() { log4net.Config.BasicConfigurator.Configure(); } The problem is, that if I run this test in nUnit once, I get the output (as expected): 1742 [TestRunnerThread] DEBUG Tests.TestSomthing (null) - in test method0 But if I press RUN in nUnit.exe again (or more) I get the following: 1742 [TestRunnerThread] DEBUG Tests.TestSomthing (null) - in test method1 1742 [TestRunnerThread] DEBUG Tests.TestSomthing (null) - in test method1 And so on (if I run it 5 times, I'll get 5 repeating lines). Now, if I run the same test alone from reSharper the output is fine and does not repeat. However, if I run this test along side 2 other tests in the same class, the output is repeated three times. I am totally confused. What the hell is going on here?

• Do fields need to be explicitly final to have a "proper" immutable object?

  You often read about immutable objects requiring final fields to be immutable in Java. Is this in fact the case, or is it simply enough to have no public mutability and not actually mutate the state? For example, if you have an immutable object built by the builder pattern, you could do it by having the builder assign the individual fields as it builds, or having the builder hold the fields itself and ultimately return the immutable object by passing the values to its (private) constructor. Having the fields final has the obvious advantage of preventing implementation errors (such as allowing code to retain a reference to the builder and "building" the object multiple times while in fact mutating an existing object), but having the Builder store its data inside the object as it is built would seem to be DRYer. So the question is: Assuming the Builder does not leak the Object early and stops itself from modifying the object once built (say by setting its reference to the object as null) is there actually anything gained (such as improved thread safety) in the "immutability" of the object if the object's fields were made final instead?

  I have an abstract "GridBase" class with two types of derived classes "DetailGrid" and "HeaderGrid". Respectively, one is comprised of "DetailRow" objects and the other "HeaderRow" objects. Both of those inherit from a "RowBase" abstract class. What I am trying to do is the following: Public MustInherit Class GridBase Private pRows As List(Of RowBase) Public ReadOnly Property Rows As List(Of RowBase) Get Return pRows End Get End Property End Class Public Class DetailGrid Inherits GridBase End Class In this scenario, I want DetailGrid.Rows to return a list of DetailRow. I want HeaderRow.Rows to return a list of HeaderRow. Am I on the right track with this or should the Rows property not be included in the GridBase class?

• Anyway to improve my gzip PHP method?

  I Gzip my pages currently like so: <?php ob_start("ob_gzhandler"); //my page content ob_flush(); ?> However, I read a comment somewhere, earlier on, that this method uses a lot of memory, and I know that my website has been using a lot of memory on my virtual private server, so I thought it would be nice if I knew a way to reduce memory usage. I tested my site with an online gzip tester which says my websites are sending gzipped pages, so my gzip method works, but the main obviously I'm looking for a less memory intensive option, if any. I appreciate all suggestions. :) Oh and merry christmas ;P

However, when I add the following: frm1.Show(); after this.Close(); in Form2 code, the Form1 is being opened again (two windows). But I want it to update in the same window so I suggest this.Close() is unnecessary.

No matter 3 strings in that string [] are true if one is false then the annotaion message is displayed for all. I want the message not to display where the string is true. Help please

• Trying to understand the Zend_Auth OpenId

  I'm using a slightly modified version of the Zend_Auth_OpenId classes to get openid logins from google apps. The results are very positive, as I seem to be getting successful results from Google. I cannot get successful results passed to Zend_Auth, though. For example, Zend_Auth_Adapter_OpenId on line 241: if (!$consumer->login($id, $this->_returnTo, $this->_root, $this->_extensions, $this->_response)) { return new Zend_Auth_Result( Zend_Auth_Result::FAILURE, $id, array("Authentication failed", $consumer->getError())); } The consumer calls login() which in turn calls the private method _checkId() in Zend_OpenId_Consumer. _checkId() always ends in redirecting to the openid server. How is this ever supposed to return a valid Zend_Auth_Result object? I'm pretty close to giving up and trying to implement another OpenId library, but I'm so close to just making this work. I must be missing something so obvious! Maybe I don't understand how openid works exactly, but if someone could help me understand I would really appreciate it.

• How do I replace "this" in Java with something that works.

  I'm looking to get the showGUI() method work, the compiler says "this" is not a static variable and cannot be referenced from a static context, what would I use to replace "this"? I've tried test.main (test being the package it's in). The reason I'm using the static method showGUI() is because I need the method to be called from another static method, as well as the startup() method. I have tried to use the WebBrowser control to open the new tab as well as tried to use the Script manager however I have not been able to open the new tab. • Dictionary as parameter, where the Value-Type is irrelevant

  Hi folks, I have a function, that returns the next higher value of a Dictionary-Keys-List compared to a given value. If we have a Key-List of {1, 4, 10, 24} and a given value of 8, the function would return 10. Obviously the type of the Value-Part of the Dictionary doesn't matter for the function, the function-code for a Dictionary<int, int> and Dictionary<int, myClass> would be the same. How has the method-head have to look like, when I want to call the function with any Dictionary, that has int as key-Type and the value-Type is irrelevant? I tried: private int GetClosedKey(Dictionary<int, object> list, int theValue); but it says that there are illegal arguments, when I call it with a Dictionary. I don't want to copy'n'paste the function for each different value-type that my function may be called. Any idea, how to accomplish that? Thanks in advance, Frank

  I'm writing an RPC middleware in C++. I have a class named RPCClientProxy that contains a socket client inside: class RPCClientProxy { ... private: Socket* pSocket; ... } The constructor: RPCClientProxy::RPCClientProxy(host, port) { pSocket = new Socket(host, port); } As you can see, I don't need to tell the user that I have a socket inside. Although, to make unit tests for my proxies it would be necessary to create mocks for sockets and pass them to the proxies, and to do so I must use a setter or pass a factory to the sockets in the proxies's constructors. My question: According to TDD, is it acceptable to do it ONLY because the tests? As you can see, these changes would change the way the library is used by a programmer.
